Late Night Problems - right below the dam
fishinwrench replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
What is ILLEGAL about a goose dying of natural causes ? Without anyone witnessing how the bird died, I think you'd be ok in federal court. "The ground was littered in feathers.....I just picked them up". π Hell, the town I live in is covered with goose feathers. -
Given my experiences working on their boats I can honestly speculate that there are A LOT of guys that wouldn't be out there fishing at all.....if there wasn't a derby for them to participate in. It's actually the ONLY reason why they ever fish.....or care anything at all about fishing. It would be like someone playing BINGO just for fun.

The "he" that you are referring to is suspected to be nuttier than a squirrel turdπ That pic, and the sighting of bait bags, or whatever, could have been from 10 years ago for all anyone else knows. Not everything found dead was intentionally "killed". -

Covid. Was flying upstream in the fog and ran into the dam.....or the cable. Either way.... it's free fly tying material π -
Tell him... "Listen, all FS requires me to do is to provide you food and clothing. What food, and what clothing, is MY CHOICE. So if you would like to continue living a halfway decent life then you'd better start being a better team player!"

You shoulda seen the offhand shot at 43 yards that I pulled off the other day. π

Perfect candidate for a moderator to replace @Terrierman π -
You can overdose on ANYTHING. I used to love fishing competitively, but that was when there were only 1-2 tournaments per month on each lake. Now there are over 50! π. Have you looked at the regatta listings on our lakes lately? One wife is really nice to have.....but 17-20 would have any man ready to commit suicide ! I don't care how smokin' hot they are. Am I wrong?

License plate numbers ? I doubt that they crawled in through the woods on the far bank. -
"Save"? Ain't gonna "save" much with a initial 4k investment! My in-laws are doomsday preppersπ The amount of money they have spent to help insure they'll survive when the SHTF is completely ridiculous. Especially since my mother in-law can't even piss outside, and is scared to death of EVERYTHING. And my father in-law has 30-40k tied up in guns and ammo......and can't even mount a scope or sight them in effectively. π Have you ever shot a .22 magnum DERRINGER ? Yeah, DON'T ! π²

They eat the trout, but not the Geese ? -
Your order has been placed. That's Peep's department......I hope to not have to visit the in-laws between now and then, but if she goes out there she'll score y'all a big bag of them.
-
My in-laws have oneπ We're all sick of freeze dried Skittles and assorted Gummies. And I refuse to even try the beef stew.
-
Whatever it was it brought the shad to the surface and turned the White bass & Hybrids on in a big way ! Best topwater bite I've seen in a LONG time. π

There's something in the atmosphere. I thought it was just oil/crud on the road this morning when it started raining. It was like this for 10-12 miles. Then when we got back home my rain gauge looked like this ... It's like soap suds π€ Anyone else notice this?
-
More exciting to fish for ? Browns fight like a channel cat π At least Rainbows take to the air occasionally.

Not anyone else I know either. This is why I like the older motors....after being completely refreshed of course. 9 times out of 10 using the diagnostic program on the newer computer controlled outboards does NOT solve the problem, and any service done outside that realm is unsupported (not advised & can even void warranty). Today's techs are trained to run computer diagnostics....and if nothing indicates a failure then the protocol is to change spark plugs & fuel filters and consider it "cured". Which would be GREAT if that actually worked.....but it seldom does. π€·ββοΈ -

To be honest, if your outboard is one that's subject to sit unused for periods of 4 months or more.....then you REALLY have no business owning a motor equipped with a Vapor separator, Fuel rail, Injectors, Tracker valve, or High pressure fuel pump, Oxygen sensors, and a computer programmed to operate it for the lowest possible emissions. When you bought that thing your MOST IMPORTANT REASON for paying all that extra money.....was to not pollute the environment, right ? π€ -

Alcohol resistant materials have been used in outboard and automotive fuel systems since 1999-2002. A few random things, like injector O-rings, crankshaft/propshaft seals, some hose, and carburetor gaskets remained until 2006.....but after that EVERYTHING made of rubber-type material was redesigned to be alcohol resistant. Nothing made of nylon/rubber/silicone/amphenol/or plastic of any kind will last FOREVER. But certain technicians will continue to blame "ethanol" everytime anything made of those materials fails. It's bull----.π Haven't you ever wondered why you never hear automobile technicians cry about ethanol? It's because they haven't been brainwashed to do so. The Marine service industry needs to let that ---- go ! The only thing I'm aware of that is bad about ethanol blended fuel....is that it has a lower "shelf life". If you buy it.....then you need to burn it up in a reasonable amount of time. And if you believe that "non-ethanol rated fuel" won't turn into horse piss... and eventually shellac....when left to sit for months on end, then either your memory is failing, or you haven't been alive long enough to know better. -
Not even near as good. A whip-finish knot is nothing more than a series of half hitches.
-
Yeah, the knife-fork-spoon thing depends on which hillside you're on I think. It has a one-in-three chance of being accurate. π
-
If you ever studied it with a rope on a rake handle you'd realize that a whip-finish really isn't that great of a knot. Do I know of a better way to finish a fly ? Nope π And oddly enough it is seldom that one fails. Even without glue. Then again..... neither does about 4-5 half hitches. π€·ββοΈ

My grandma used to make a persimmon cobbler a couple times per year. It was good with a couple scoops of ice cream over it.......but I gotta admit that I don't miss it nearly as bad as some of her other desserts.

It's really fun to sit on the porch and shoot them with a pellet gun ππ
