  1. Everyone that did well in our Crappie derby last Sunday caught them by Livescope'ing suspended fish..... basically out on the middle of nowhere. Big fish caught by Mike Baker was 2lbs. even, and if you wanna know how he fishes you can tune in to his YT channel. 👍
  2. I believe in the case of LO it is a forage base thing. There's simply nothing for mature bluegill to eat. The winter drawdowns effectively kill off mosquito larvae (we know that for a fact). Also most dragonfly and damselfly larva/nymphs are exposed-dried out-frozen as well. The same reason that LO has no FROGS is the reason why it has very few mature bluegill. There simply isn't enough food to sustain them through numerous growing seasons. If they were to halt the extreme winter drawdowns then a more healthy population of bluegill would eventually come back. As would the aquatic insects, frogs, and the milfoil. Crappie have a major advantage over bluegill on this lake simply because of the size of their mouths. A mature bluegill just can't quite make a living on plankton, and he can't fit a 2-3" shad in his mouth.....so he only gets to chow down for a 2-3 week period, once per year, during post-spawn. It's a long LONG wait between good solid meals. Back in the days of styrofoam dock floats they (General Electric) were not in the practice of drawing the lake down nearly as low. We had milfoil back then too... because of that. Milfoil and aquatic insects can't survive here anymore because of Ameren, who has effectively eliminated it/them via their more extreme winter drawdowns. Listen to me, sounding all like a fisheries biologist and $#!t. 🙄
  3. No such thing as a stupid question. Have fun with your project. 👍

    What's Cooking?

Oh. I don't check this thread very often. I only checked it this time because a little dinger popped up saying that someone tagged me.

    What's Cooking?

It's never too late to deny saying something. Would it help if I CATAGORICALLY denied it ?
  6. Tilt/trim, and Jackplate are two different things. Tilt/trim allows adjusting your motor angle on the fly. A Jackplate allows adjusting your motor height in relation to the transom. For a 25hp on a Shawnee I think the benefit would be overshadowed by the negatives. Either is going to set your motor back 8-10" allowing a 1-2" higher setup..... but you don't gain anything because that means the motor is going to dig a deeper hole trying to get up on plane. We're not talking about a performance hull here. A 25 isn't that heavy so just use your tilt pin (set it and forget it). Setting the motor back on a tiller motor is also going to make manual starting and sharp turns more difficult for you.....unless your arms are longer than normal people.
  7. Each has their place. Where you're running is what decides which hull material is best. I'm neither an aluminum or a fiberglass guy. I love'em all. If you can paint your front porch then you're fully capable of redoing your hull. Just read the instructions.

    What's Cooking?

No, I never said that. A 😁 just means that I'm smiling or chuckling when I said it. It doesn't cancel it out.
  9. You lost me. Throw me a line here.
  10. I ain't searching for it. I don't even know what pulled his cord and made him decide to launch a missile at ME for. I haven't done anything but talk nice to him, and have his back, for years. Prolly had a sex change. Ya jus' never know about WOMEN. Love ya one minute....and slit your throat the next. 🙄
  11. I doubt it. Judging by the last 68 posts from YOU. You don't even know what kinda phucking trees your taking pictures of. My daddy would have known 😛 How far back do we have to go to find a helpful and intelligent post from Ronnie?

  13. You ain't fixing them right. 😅
  14. Yeah, performing good enough....is good enough. Who the hell wants to sip on the same cup of coffee for 3 days?
  15. Bringing up certain points and attempting to make others think about, or consider it.... IS doing something. Telling the person who brings it up to "STFU" is beneficial to whom? Are you the patrolman of wasted cyberspace today? I ain't your kid.
  16. Mention that the MDC squanders many hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly, and guys will pound you for even bringing it up.....But the same guys will celebrate the opportunity to qualify for a five dollar discount thru them. Ain't that sumpthin 😅
  17. And a 2 cylinder 60 doesn't weigh any more than a 2 cylinder 40 does.....JFYI Cowlings are even interchangable.....if ya wanna be sneaky. 😁
  18. If my dad had ever bought me a Valentine gift.....I would have ran away from home. When we were kids in grade school and were expected to give VALENTINE'S to our buddy's, I totally refused. And thankfully my ol'man and older brother backed me up on that. There would always be that one girl in my classroom.....that would get the ol'Wrench valentine tho. 💘🤗 Funny......I remember every single one of them. 😊
  19. If you were to hit my favorite local bluegill hotspot anytime from April to the following February you'd think it was full of nothing but 5-6 inchers. But if you hit it in late February-early March you'll quickly learn that there are plenty of big 'ol knot-headed gills in there. Seems the big ones are the first ones to move up shallow and start feeding in the early-EARLY Spring. Once the little farts move in the big ones seem to disappear....and it's likely that you won't catch another whopper the rest of the year. Where they go, and what they do is a mystery to me. But for 2-3 weeks during the late winter-early spring you can literally fill buckets with big fat ones nearly every day.
  20. What's the boat rated for? That's what you want.
  21. Don't make the mistake of underpowering your boat. While the Niangua may not be considered a "dangerous river", it CAN BE. Getting halfway through a tight spot, picking up a few rocks and running out of @$$ can get you into trouble real quick. Having some extra forward momentum is needed more often than you might think. More HP will save your boat more often than it will hurt it. If you just want to "ease your way upstream" then use a little prop motor and a tow rope. This gutless POS right here got me into more trouble than I care to admit.
  22. Nice focus! I was gonna piss and moan because I couldn't read the sign. But then I clicked on it and..... perfectly clear. 👍
  23. Cut longways, rippled....and battered thick. 👍 Best fried pickles ever !
  24. Somebody identify that tree. I have a black cherry tree in my yard that looks just like it.
