What it's like to be retired during Covid
fishinwrench replied to Terrierman's topic in General Chat
Yo Karen, If you were truly concerned then you coulda stepped a few places back in the line. Typical whiner! 😅 "How dare you punish ME because of my self-induced insecurities". 🙄 -
Ok, 450.00/hr then. The GERMS are still there. Don't keep claiming all of this DANGER.....and then stiff us on hazard pay !!!
-
That's arguable. 30.00/hr to risk your life in this COVID laden environment that they are claiming? I think not! 675.50/hr. would be tempting, and more in line with the panic that they have caused. Medical bills can be EXPENSIVE!
-
No, I think she was trying to understand why my dad was always out chasing stray tail. She never cured him of it. 😅
-
From the looks of that table you'd think he was slaughtering a hog. Messy!

Don't know if any of you have ever psychologically examined your fears.... but I have mine. It's actually kind of interesting. My spider thing was easy because my mother was petrified of spiders, and I'm sure that when I was a very small child experiencing the person that I depended on for security, completely loose her composure at the mere sight of a spider probably ingrained the feeling that NOBODY WAS IN CONTROL when a spider was nearby, and that obviously permanently implanted feelings of fear and insecurity that just can't be overcome. Many people are afraid of snakes for the same reason. They probably had an experience where their parents were startled and freaked out about a snake when they were very young. The drama of the situation stayed with them for a lifetime. I'm totally cool with snakes, even poisonous ones....but SPIDERS just totally freak me out. At one time even Daddy-Longlegs freaked me out.....but once I learned that they were not spiders, I was immediately fine with them. Weird hu? Psychology is very interesting. 🤔 Now, the monkey thing....this is a trip..... My older brother had a stuffed monkey, and one time when nobody else was in the room I was 100% sure that I saw that monkey move on its own. I was too young to talk and tell anyone about it....but I remember it like it was yesterday. 55+ years later, regardless of what anyone can tell me.....I simply do not trust them and don't want them anywhere near me, even though I completely understand why I feel that way. Did the monkey REALLY move? I dunno 😬 The things that happen and effect you as a child are way more significant than many people can imagine. Never EVER let your very young children see you cry, or act scared, and never ever ignore their fears, or apparent concerns, and just laugh them off. It's pretty huge and can effect their life FOREVER. If you notice that they are fearful of something that is rediculous, then hold them and show them confidently that what they are scared of is not to be feared, and help them to gradually overcome it. Even though my mother was a psychology major, she failed me in that regard. But in her defense, she didn't become a psychology major until the damage was already done.

Until mask wearing is A LAW, then copping an attitude about people that choose not to....is worse than racism on the highest level. 600% worse. If it makes you uncomfortable to go somewhere that you might see someone not wearing a mask....then stay home. Order your stuff online. Like tools....and fix your own dam truck! As soon as this election is over.... we'll see how much longer the mask wearers continue their phobia. I give them 2 weeks, tops. -
I love you guys 🤗 My whole life everybody has ribbed me about my monkey phobia. Finally, a group that understands. 👍

fishinwrench replied to Will S.'s topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Wouldn't have to be if these companies didn't try to stick it in your rear-end from all angles. A 2.00 piece of plastic= $74.86 Gimme a break 🙄 -

More commonly known as a paper clip. 😊 -

More commonly known as a "battery charger". 😅 -
Just ordered your powerhead a few minutes ago. They are dealing with some hurricane damage there but assured me that it would go out ASAP (probably be 3-5 days later than usual). 🤷

"Back in the day" the guys in my club, including me, used to butcher a Smithwick Devil's Horse to put it's spinners (both of them) and hardware, on a Heddon Baby Torpedo (the mid-sized one), and add split rings to the hook hangers. And for awhile that was a TOP-SECRET HOT BAIT! I had forgotten about that, and the tornado stole all of mine....but if I can locate a few of those old baits I'd like to rig up a few. That was a pretty radical mod, and it definitely worked. We called it "The Brat" because that's the sound it made when ripping it. 😎🤟
-
Heck yeah ! Good job Daryk ! We all should stock up NOW, before the sales of Heddon Torpedo's goes through the roof ! 😄 If you have one of the OLD ONES I'll trade you 2 wiggle warts and a Squeeky Dolphin buzzbait.

When he blows your cover as a supreme intellect, it's easy. 🤟

Does it matter? Either one can catch a 3" Magnum load of #4's with their face, for all I care.
-
Gotcha, thanks. I guess I'm not going to make it out.😔 I had an opportunity this afternoon but the desire to just sit on the porch and listen to the leaves rustling in the breeze was just too much to ignore. I accomplished NOTHING today.....but dang it felt good. Looking forward to congratulating the winner. 😊👍

In videos I have, but not in my presence or the basturd would be on one side of the room, and his head would be on the other. I hate to admit it, but I have the immediate desire to murder them upon sight. My mom had an employee of hers that was a Vietnamese gal that had a couple monkeys when I was a kid. She thought it was cute to bring the little cocksuckers over for "visits". Finally I broke down and told mom to either WARN ME when she was coming over, so that I could LEAVE.....or else I was going to get a shotgun from the gun cabinet and end their "visits" for good!
-
I think everyone can understand that one. The monkey thing I have to deal with....well... it's kinda embarrassing. Everytime my daughter sees a monkey and says "Oh how cute!" ..... I just wanna put her up for adoption. And I've told her that too. She thinks I'm kidding. I'm not. 😳
-
I'll bookmark that for NEXT year. They are all gone NOW. THANKS 👍
-
Totally uneffected by clowns....and SQUIRRELS. 😂 I still can't get a grasp on that one, but hey, at least you own it. 👍
-
I think it is safe to assume that if they make it 14-16 days....then they are gonna be just fine as far as "living/dying" is concerned. I'm more concerned/curious about how their habits change after being relocated from their familiar home territory. I expect that the majority of 2-3lbers would become less solitary and more likely to transform into schoolers that prowl open water in wolf packs. I would expect the big girls to settle into the nearest available cover at the depth that suits them.... but the often reoccurring event of guys trolling for crappie & whites, catching TOAD BASS out in the middle of nowhere (6-10 ft. deep over 25-40 feet of featureless water) within a few miles of popular boat ramps, tells me that there are no rules after a fish has been relocated.

You'd probably be surprised at what you can do, and how agile you can be when your life TRULY depends on it. You might be a little sore for a few days afterwards, but bygod you're alive! I've taken just enough spills in frigid water that I know I'm going to be fine. It's a confidence thing. If you truly fear it then you may not have any business close to the water during winter. It isn't as bad as you are probably thinking.....or at least it isn't for me. Adrenaline kicks in and you just have to trust it. I learned that immediately after the tornado hit my place, and I've been in enough situations since then that I don't fear much of anything. Except for monkeys, cougars, spiders, and large bears. I don't think they give 2 $#!TS how much "adrenaline" I have. 😂
-
I do know that! Even in bass fishing, hollering for your partner to "get the net" is a fatal mistake. The man connected to the fish has a way better idea of when to scoop....and when to hold off for a second or two.
-
I learned a long time ago ..... If you see a guy on a trout stream that carries a net THAT SIZE strapped to his back...... You're best move is to just watch and learn. 😊 Whether he catches one, or not, doesn't matter.....just pay close attention to how he operates.
