You know they'll up the wire size on War Eagles, and they'll "fix" the head where it doesn't come loose and start wobbling. They are clueless as to what made the bait what it is (was). I always kinda thought they needed better hooks....but truthfully I never missed bites or lost fish because of their hooks. Broke several wires but only because I didn't retire the bait when I should have.

I've done that with Whites, it works about 1/2 the time. Sometimes just enough to help you finish out a limit if the bite quits before you've limited out. One of my buddies has a Hydro-Wave, and after about 10 trips out with it we still can't come to the conclusion that it truly works.

Someone put up No Trespassing signs on a gravel bar at my local creek, and I was like "oh no you don't!" So I called the county prosecutor (we know each other) and explained my concerns. He said, just stay in the water, and if by chance a deputy shows up and wants to write me a ticket....just BE NICE, take the ticket, and he'd throw it out when it crossed his desk. I stayed in the water and never had any problems. Several just ignored the signs and fished from the gravel bar. They didn't have any problems either. What needs to be addressed by agents is people putting up signs and purple paint in places that they don't actually own. In the Trespassing case that I plead guilty to I know who called the law....and I also know that he can't prove that he owns the property. He took it by adverse possession, doesn't pay taxes on it, and has no deed. I could have easily beat it, but they wouldn't allow me to represent myself. Had to have an attorney....which is also BS.

They get offended when you STFU around here. They are trying to get you to talk as much as possible so they can see if you slur your words or whatever. I think we're at 11 in Morgan co., 7-8 in Camden. That's over the last 8-10 years. They started ramping them up after 2007 I think, when some bill passed. Alot of times we get word of them beforehand, especially the ones close to home, so we can avoid them. The toll road(MM) from Sunrise Beach to Osage beach, the hill approaching the Niangua bridge on 5 hwy., and the road (my road) leading to/from Coconut's are hotspots for them.

I don't care much for being checked randomly. If there's a reason to suspect that I may have committed a crime....then fine. But the whole "random shakedown" thing brings out the smartass in me big-time. You should be with me during a sobriety checkpoint. I get down right indignant.

They should smile and be nice too. This prevents them from hollering at you and making you cross the river/lake IMMEDIATELY to greet them. It also prevents them from blowing through the riffle you're fishing with a jet boat. They should also just check your license, wish you well, and allow you to continue your day. Bonus questions like "Where ya from", "Come here often", "Camping nearby or headed home after your done fishing", are irrelevant and just cut into my time. I didn't drive all this way to stand on the bank and shoot the bull with someone that probably doesn't even fish.

Yep, Trespassing. I didn't deserve it. Agreed to plead guilty and pay the fine as long as it didn't go on my record. It was the difference between paying 125.00 or hiring a lawyer for 1500.00 I really wanted to fight it and make my case, but I didn't have any extra money at the time. My oldest just got busted for fishing on a paddleboard in a KC lake without a PFD in her possession, she's all pissed off about it. Gonna cost her 180.00 😅

I met one that didn't know the difference between buffalo and carp (not a big deal really) but he was adamant that the fish were carp when they were clearly buffalo. I initially corrected him but didn't stand there and argue with him after he "corrected" me. 🙄 Also learned how to get away from one once. Watched a Mexican dude pretend to not understand him....and just walked away after an agent asked to see his permit. The agent just stood there dumbfounded, then went to check someone else. I mean, what was he gonna do? Chase him down and tackle him?Shoot him? 😅

If you're tying jigs for trout fishing what you need to find/make is jigheads that aren't perfectly round. The best trout jig ever was one that came from a round jighead mold that the halves didn't line up correctly. It was one of those mistakes that turned out to be a bonafide killer. Slap anything on that crooked head 1/80-1/32 and it was Game On.

Cross-cut strips are stupid. It's fur. Once wet it makes absolutely no difference at all which way the fur is coming off the hide.
