Question for fishinwrench
fishinwrench replied to Maverickpro201's topic in General Angling Discussion
If it is the original powerhead and has never been rebuilt, then it either has a broken piston ring, scored cylinder, or a head gasket leak. Since you said that a leak down test only revealed a "slow leak", then there is a possibility that someone has done a sloppy rebuild job, or purchased a cheap replacement powerhead....and the rings just haven't fully seated yet. If I could look at the powerhead I could tell you whether or not it has been taken apart or replaced, but if you can't then you are at the mercy of the sellers knowledge and honesty. If it were me that was considering buying it I would rather it be the original powerhead/never rebuilt. And I would buy with the assumption that it is going to need a rebuild (3800.00 off the top). -
The only thing that tried to hose me last year was my insurance went up for no reason whatsoever, and ATT began literally raping us on our service with them....but the service is head over heels excellent compared to the competitors so I'm stuck with it. Gotta have the best phone and internet service available in this business. Usually when the cost to keep afloat goes up I just bump my labor rate, so all stays equal here at home. Last year I didn't, I kept my rate steady, but increased volume of work made up for it. This year I stayed the same on labor rate again, for the 5th year in a row, but DUE TO THE PANDEMIC I am making far less on my parts markup. In many cases I am making NOTHING on the sale of parts. I also have peaked myself out on workload this season. There's no way I can take on more projects without help (which I can not find). Turning work away goes against everything I believe in, but #1) I don't even have room to store any more boats that are going to wait 20 days+ before I can even look at them.....and #2) I don't want to be responsible for babysitting them that long either. So it's going to be interesting to see how the tax return goes for 2020

Oh c'mon. We should all make an equal effort to insure that Quillback's mod powers are not wasted.

How do you know that the ones you find weren't chipped into shape by some neophyte nearby, and dropped a few weeks ago ? An acquaintance of mine and his girlfriend used to go arrowhead hunting around here, and they would "find" a literal coffee can full of them nearly every weekend. There's no way that all of those were genuine native American relics. I ain't buying it.

Boy you can say that again! My parents and grandparents were democrats.....but that meant something entirely different back then.

From the sound of your situation, and your desire to travel a bit, fairly frequently, let me just throw this out there...... It sounds like you are going to be doing more maintenance than you are out enjoying the boat. If you don't get out and run it at least once a month you are going to have issue after issue after issue. Batteries need consistent excersize, and fuel just sitting in the system for weeks on end causes problems. Maybe sell it and buy a canoe, couple of kayaks, pond prowler, or a rowboat? -
I wasn't referring to the ones looking to get elected, but for them of course you are spot on. And they don't "say it", they just think it. Again with the secret hidden thoughts thing.

Liberals ask, Does it FEEL GOOD? If yes...then go forward with it. Conservatives ask, Does it DO GOOD? If not... then scrap it and look for other options. It's all about the level of realism, and your ability to see past your precious feelings and accept the reality of things.

No FORCED empathy. By choice is fine, and encouraged.....if you can afford it. I'm pissed, and you should be too......that you are forced to sponsor Cat Lady. And the millions like her. It's food out of our kids mouths, so to speak. Sorry, but when it comes to feeding your kids or mine. I gotta take care of my own. Abraham, I am not.

There's a gal down the road that is (I guess) trying to buy herself a ticket to "heaven" by taking in all stray cats, paying to get them healthy and spayed/nutered. Her house, which used to be a beautiful home, is now absolutely nasty, the car she drives is gross too, and she is now one who you want to be at least 3 isles away from when she is in the store. She HAD a very nice inheritance....but has now pissed it away on stray cats, and is on welfare. She just knows that she is going to be with Jesus though, because of her good kitty cat heart. I wish her luck!

Here goes another one for the CNN application pile. Can't have a free country unless we all take responsibility for each others BS? Huuuge stretch there.

Not everything in society is butterfly's and roses.

If you go buy a car, license it, insure it, maintain it.......Then use it alot to taxi around people that don't have a license or a car.....Then one day when the car is roadfoundered and won't go another mile, who do you blame? I blame YOU.

Poor by choice? It's a dog eat dog world. Poor by misfortune? It is friends and family....or nothing. The entire population isn't (or shouldn't be) responsible for all the misfortune in the country. Nor should they be responsible for all the poor choices.

It isn't about WORRY, it's about using up random people's money. If you are ok with supporting them, and doing so isn't going to just kick the can down the road when it's YOUR turn to be in the same condition......then Cool Beans. It may sound cruel, but your uncle's misfortune isn't MY FAMILY'S problem. We have our own asses to look out for someday.

My ex-FIL dog got it right in the face. Head swelled up like a basketball, and the dog couldn't eat for almost 2 weeks. We thought she was a goner..... but she pulled through just fine. No vet or anything, just one shot of the antibiotic that his neighbor gave to his hogs.

Depends on how long I live. Once I'm of no use to anyone, and nothing but a drain on my family..... I'll be ready to feed worms. How long are YOU planning on making YOUR loved ones miserable?

Dude, you need to go to work for CNN, because look what you just did. Actually my idea for population control is much crueler than that, and goes like this.....If you have kids that you don't support then you get executed and your organs sold to the highest bidder. If that isn't enough to cover their expenses until they are 18 then we'll go after Mom and her guts, or pimp her out to the Epstein clan. No more government funded children. If mom and dad both are unavailable then it goes next of kin. Old folks either need to have retirement funds, or be able to live off their SS and property equity alone. If they can't, then they starve unless family takes them in. This whole mindset of "no matter how bad I screw my life up.... everything will be fine" crap, needs to end. People with bad disfunctional brains and people who will never be able to take care of themselves either have to rely on family, starve to death, or sell their guts to pay their expenses. State mental institutions are a huge drain on society. Full of highly paid psychologists that have never, and will never, cure anyone. They need to go back to school and learn a trade that benefits someone. Here's another conspiracy for ya.... Do you think some coroners, hospitals, funeral homes harvest organs of those recently deceased? (Whether they are organ donors or not). If so, who gets the money? If not, why not?

Every dog I've ever had, except one, has suffered a snakebite at one point or another. It sucks for them, and for you.
-
No. No sucker or Goggle eye spawn on the premises. They are self sustainable.

A dog was sitting on a railroad track when a train came along and ran over his tail. The dog turned quickly to inspect his tail, and the train then ran over his head. Don't loose your head over a little piece of tail. 44 words. 👍

Because of the Pentagon part, and because of the mayor mentioning their "decision to pull it" (regarding building 7), and because of the stuff all of the firemen were recorded saying after the buildings collapsed, and a few other things that just don't add up...... I'm suspect of the whole terrible ordeal. And frankly, anyone who isn't, has a screw loose.
-
Uhm, No. Not likely. Hatchery politics are inevitable. They'll be "monetarily recovering from the pandemic" for as long as they can get away with it.

Aquarium reject, or a grown up goldfish from the baitshop. They cruise the banks of Lake O too. I've run across them several times. I just leave them alone, but apparently these boys felt the need to snag one. Kids will be kids. 😅
