Your outboard will start and move you around with only 3 cylinders firing too. 👌

Every time I hear someone say "color doesn't matter", or "Chartuese is the same as White", I go back to a trip to Florida when a Lime Green buzz bait was hands down the best bait to throw. The size, weight, and even the speed of the retrieve was less important than that certain shade of LIME GREEN. Chartreuse, yellow, white, or slightly darker green would not work. One of my classmates spray painted a Smithwick Devils Horse the right shade of lime green.....and literally clobbered them. Luck E Strike had a ringworm color they called "Grasshopper" that was lime green, and the fish down there loved them too. Chartreuse and white according to this information should look ALL White......but you'll never convince me that there isn't a difference to the fish.

Whenever they predict a big cicada hatch I always compare it to a hatch when I was a kid. In 1971 or 72 there was a FOR REAL hatch in Audrain, Monroe, Montgomery counties. They were so thick that you literally couldn't take a step outside anywhere without stepping on them. There was a smell in the air that has stuck with me for a lifetime. All of our bicycle tires were caked in cicada guts, and we had to take our shoes off before coming inside. We called them "locust" back then. Every tree/bush, every telephone pole, and everybody's house was literally covered in them. Gutters were full. Sidewalks, streets, parking lots and playgrounds.... completely covered. It was gross ! The ground looked like Swiss cheese, and the noise in the evening was deafening.

Let me add something actually helpful to this thread, to those preparing to or attempting to GO THERE. See this decently clear and discernable screen shot.... If you are expecting decent imaging returns like this, then there's something you need to notice on that screen? Know what it is? Look at the VOLTAGE! Yeah it says 16.1 If yours is showing 12v-14v then you're never going to appreciate using it. For the best usage you will need a dedicated lithium battery with nothing else hooked up to it. (800.00-1200.00) Maybe, eventually, they will design units that operate well with a consistent 12v draw.....but as far as I know....all the ones currently available are first class power hogs.

Don't forget to grab a goofyass pin ! 😅 Who was it that designed those squirrelly pins anyway ? That's a good winter topic... Might be too close to Spring to start THAT conversation. Ya know...... If you bend one completely straight (except for the squirrelly part) they make kinda cool dubbing needles/bodkins. 👍. Leaving the squirrelly part keeps it from rolling off the desk, and makes it easier to pick up and use.

"Unwinnable" 🙄 Sorry, we can't fish today because my $1200 battery is dead and I can't afford a new one.

For the last.....I dunno how many years..... they haven't required that you show a fishing license to get a daily tag. Just throw the money on the counter, and they drop a tag in front of you.
-
How does one get declared exempt from needing a daily tag ? Illegal alien ?
-
Yes, but not significantly. Definitely not more than it ranges at a specific depth during different times of the day. We had milfoil back when I was doing it, and coves that lacked milfoil weren't any different than coves that had it. o2 sensor readings weren't any different either. The only time o2 sensor readings were wildly different were when you got around significant spring inflow that also resulted in a significant temperature change. Little spring seepage spots weren't enough to effect either o2 or pH.
-
Did they raise the tag prices this year?
-
I never fell for the Color-C-lector, but I burned up a lot of fuel running around testing the pH of this lake and Truman. It was crap like that which likely started me on my path to not trusting biologists.

I wish that someone who is good at livescoping would answer this one..... How do the fish react when you turn your "Hydrowave" on ? 🤔

What goes up, must come down.

So what do we make of all the past Bass Tracking studies? The ones where "Fisheries Biologists" spent big bucks radio tracking bass throughout the 4 seasons on natural lakes, man made reservoirs, and large rivers. Remember how we were taught that bass always followed contour lines, channels, edges, ect. Those highly qualified Biologists FIBBED TO US didn't they? Sold us books and everything! Not intentionally fibbing, I'm sure......They just didn't know what the hell they were talking about, and were too embarrassed to admit it. Imagine That !!!! They STILL don't know what they are talking about. And they are still too embarrassed to admit it.

Yeah but nobody paid me for it. 😮💨 There was no funding. You don't get to call yourself a "mechanic" because you poured wiper fluid in your car. 🙄 Or a preacher because you yelled JESUS CHRIST!

No nuclear warhead sites in your area I hope. Kinda looks like a missile launch. Jus'sayin

In a broad sense, pattern recognition and inductive thinking form the basis for all scientific inquiry. 👍
-
Only inside the bouys. When the area you're taking off from is freshly stocked 2-5 times per week with keeper sized fish, why else would you choose to burn 30 gallons of gas to get a limit?
-
Yeah I'm no scientist ! 😅

The saltwater transducers are effectively jamming other units in their vicinity. A boat 150 yards from you can screw up your display returns. The same type of effect that wireless Home/Dock Security systems can have on digital engine and trolling motor controls. Hell my garage door opener was turning my shop stereo system off & on and we like to never figured out what the hell was going on! Thought we had summoned a poltergeist. There's a lot of RF information bouncing around in our atmosphere these days. And now it's going underwater.

I'll tell ya how..... They EVENTUALLY release them, yeah. After letting them flop around on the boat floor, taking them for a 1-6 hour boat ride, weighing them, holding them out of the water to take pics, ect. The ONLY reason that tournament anglers have to run miles from the Take-off cove is because the recently released fish are totally lost, sick/injured, and circling the drain..... about to die. Just because you don't see them floating doesn't mean they are back to living a good life. The actual MDC REGULATION states that fish not possessed are to be "RELEASED UNHARMED IMMEDIATELY". Is that not what it says ? I haven't checked today....but that's what it used to say.

When sidescan came out, one of my customers accidentally located a Jeep in 22' of water near the back of Indian cr. at a power line crossing. The "authorities" retrieved it and charged the owner a healthy sum for recovery & littering. The question I have is: If you graph this lake you'll locate sunken boats and sunken dock frames EVERYWHERE. Since those things have numbers on them that are easily traceable......Why aren't those things recovered and the owners charged likewise?

Mylar balloons and some rocks to anchor them with, that's all you need. 👍 Of course it would be my luck that those schools of balloons would attract schools of 6 pounders......and I'd be creating the opposite effect.
