  1. I'd rather pay for shipping than drive to Buffalo. 😐

    What's Cooking?

Great, now I have to go out and buy a BB gun. 😏 I figured if it was some kind of pressure cooker then it might be good for softening up some old squirrels. Pressure cookers make me nervous, I've heard too many horror stories.

    What's Cooking?

I asked Sugarbritches if it was an "instapot" and she said No. I said, How do you know? She said, Because I know. I so hope it turns out to be ! 😂

    What's Cooking?

Ok help me out here. What is this thing, what's it good for, and how do I use it? It was given to us and we haven't a clue. Thx
  7. Where ya at? I'll buy them if nobody else wants them. I don't wanna have to drive across country to get them though.
  8. Welcome! 👋 If you're "on the river" and catching browns then you are below Prosperine. And above Leadmine, right? Are you the new Blue Spring owner?
  9. Just pulled up the radar, and Good Grief! Has this not been the wettest Early Summer in 30 years? It seems that we haven't had 3 straight days without a substantial rainfall since late March. The Gasconade basin might be spared tonight, but it probably won't be spared tomorrow.
  10. The current on parts of the MO do some rather scary things. Giant logs just pop up in front of you and stuff like that. Areas where the current is slow, you'd think it was deeper....but it ain't. Areas where it's fast you'd assume it was shallow ....but it ain't. Whirlpools in the middle of the channel for no apparent reason. Naw, say what you will about that giant muddy widowmaker ditch, but there's nothing in it that interests me enough to get on it again.
  11. Yeah, more of some things and less of others. That isn't the kinda "more" I'm talking about. Seriously, who cares if the guy squirted scent on his fly, as long as he didn't keep more than his limit. Do you really think after the scent was added he just started slaying them? I'm betting not.
  12. Man! 30 years ago under-aged kids could smoke dope, drink beer, have sex, and trip on acid, all on the courthouse steps and not get in trouble..... but rubber legs on a fly at RR would have gotten you a citation. What a crazy world!
  13. The rule is perfectly clear. It says "any material" except flavored or scented soft plastic "bait" that is permanently attached to a single hook. I've never known anyone that has had their fly inspected by an agent, and I've never known anyone to have the soles of their boots inspected either. Supposedly the agents in Arkansas used to inspect hooks in the barbless area with a piece of panty hose.....but I'm not too sure that wasn't just a tall tale.
  14. But I've bought all this beer and tyed all these flys...... 😥 I'm going somewhere. 😎
  15. It may just be the way I fish, but for river Smallies the best time for me to be on my best stretch is mid-day (11am til 3pm)
  16. Proof that the folks employed there don't even understand their own rules. Trout Crack (vinyl rib) Foam beetle (rubber legs) Montana Stone (rubber antenna/tail) Pat's Rubberlegs (duh!) Copper John (latex or silicone wingcase) All of the above can be bought at the Bennett Spring Park store. And can be used in any of the RED/WHITE/BLUE ribbon areas.
  17. And what a PIA it is! I love eating bluegill, but I would rather carve a whistle out of a hickory stick than to fillet 15-20 of them.
  18. Around here? You'd be surprised! Actually I can give you a genuine answer ......9 to 14 is quite possible without baiting at all.
  19. I'll text you some pics of it the next time I get close to it. He's using it now but will be selling it before Fall. 16' Tracker Grizzly with a 35 Johnson. Nice boat/motor but you're gonna hate the trailer.
  20. I like afternoon/evenings better because I don't like getting up before daylight. Nothing pisses me off worse than sitting on a seat covered in morning dew when I'm still half asleep.
  21. It used to be, but that stuff was all hashed out years ago.
  22. Wanna buy one?
  23. In a lake/river full of big fish it isn't uncommon for me to go out and not catch one. Smaller fish race around eating and pooping constantly. Bigger fish generally ease around slower taking bites less frequently, possibly managing their energy levels more efficiently. It is odd though how individual fish always seem to operate simultaneously. Makes me wonder what specific element (or combination of elements) controls their behavior. A highly schooled and skilled fisherman can work through an area and not catch a quality fish.....but then some kid with a Beetle Spin making pathetic casts can come behind him and catch a toad. This kinda thing shouldn't be allowed to happen. 😅
  24. Apparently so, since the performance leader is also the sales leader.
  25. I don't know since E-10 is all I have experience with. But I can tell you that regardless of fuel blends all Mercs will live a longer life with the ignition timing retarded 2-4° from factory specs. Mercury engineers have this thing where they feel they must be the hands down Performance Leader in the industry, and they are.....but there's a price for that. If timing advance is mechanical you can play with it and see, but if you have crank position sensors and computer controlled advance then you're at the mercy of the programmers.
