  1. Dinosaur time !
  2. You should put some chains on the hoist if you don't have a neighbor or someone to keep an eye on it.
  3. EXCELLENT performance !
  4. The 10-14" thick iceberg up here has almost lost it's grip on the shoreline. If they start generating water that sucker is gonna start ripping docks to pieces. I can't even imagine how much it weighs.
  5. That's the forum where you belong ! Seriously, go introduce yourself on the Drake forum, those guys can genuinely relate to you. Bunch of carp snobs there that you need to preach to.
  6. In all reality when is it ever ok to drink? You never know when you're gonna get a phone call and have to immediately go help someone. You never know when a family member is going to fall down the stairs, dump a pan of hot grease on themselves, or accidentally lacerate an artery with a paring knife, and you're gonna have to deal well with that....and then drive. The night that the tornado hit here I'm sure glad that I was sober, because it took some seriously quick thinking and coordination to keep us all alive. I guess that people that start drinking at 5:00 every day, and pass out by 11:30 just assume they have no responsibility to anyone should something happen that requires all of their skills. My mom was a heavy drinker and I grew up knowing that I couldn't depend on her for anything. That kinda sucked.
  7. Found it ! I need to make some new darts.
  8. My inlaws have one, it's pretty weak. Needs an overhaul. I have a blow-gun for flys that I made from an aluminum arrow shaft, it shoots Q-tip needles and is unbelievably accurate. I got it taken away though because I shot my sweety in the booty with it. I need to find where she hid that thing.
  9. That's like the pic in the Missouri Conservationist magazine, of the little urban black kid with the upside down spinning rig.....and the uniformed MDC "instructor" standing right next to him. I mean for God's sake....Do ya really not know? "We're gonna take these kids fishing...and REALLY SCREW 'EM UP !"
  10. It's 22 miles to PB#2 and another 10 miles to Alhonna. Kinda rediculous to make that run though, especially if A-rigs are allowed. A 20+lb. sack could easily come out of the Niangua's in March.
  11. Yep, and all computers seem to always take on that bogged down, impossible to fix issue after a couple years, even though their is plenty of ram left. The only fix has always been too just buy a new one. No amount of "cleaning files" and "reconfiguring" ever helps. No doubt in my mind that it is purposely designed that way.
  12. Upper Lil' Niangua area. If you watched the Lake Ozark MLF footage then you've seen it.
  13. True. Neighbors are awfully close in that area though. Depends on your definition of "remote" I guess. I'd sure rather live in Prairie Hollow than the upper Osage.
  14. Well for crying out loud. Freakin' computerized mechanical devices ! I love to tell people that I suspect a hidden detonation schedule secretly programmed into outboard ECM's. It's a joke but honestly it wouldn't surprise me all that much. If Mercury wanted their engines to last forever they'd provide parts for them for longer than 7 years. And at more reasonable cost.
  15. More likely the logged amount of run time since the last stop.
  16. The car wasn't worried about YOU, it was tired and wanted a nap. Better listen to it or it will get pissy and blow a tire, shell out a transmission, or something. They are like women. Don't bother asking What's Wrong, because it will just say "Nuthin". Maybe a warm carwash and a day of detailing is overdue? It obviously feels that you are being an insensitive azzhole.
  17. I totally agree. I remember one incident vividly that happened here a year ago when a head-on crash killed 3 people. The guy headed south had been drinking (so they claimed), and the other vehicle (north bound) had a gal that was headed home from work. The crash happened in the South bound Lane, you could easily tell by the marks left on the road. But 100% of the blame was laid upon the guy who tested positive for alcohol. The gals family made a big deal about how a drunk driver had killed their "innocent" family member, but the truth of the matter is that the gal was doing something other than just driving her car, crossed the center line, and hit the dude head-on in his lane.
  18. By simply limiting yourself to 2 beers you are only lessening the charge from DWI to DUI. If by chance you are involved in an accident (regardless of who is at fault) and you are DUI then you're just as screwed in the end. You cannot drink alcohol and drive PERIOD, and remain legal.
  19. That area has become a zoo during the warmer months. HHT cove is now a party gathering place. Eventually I think some regulations will be put in place to keep giant boats from plowing up the narrower creek arms, but until that happens.....
  20. Must have been that "You're awesome, shoot for the stars" commencement speech.
  21. All of them that I know were already booked solid into June 2018 before we even had to start putting jackets on. Yet all these kids around here say they just can't find a job.
  22. Yes sir, there comes a time when so much caution has to be exercised that it takes all the fun out of being there. Kinda like playing frisbee on the interstate.
  23. When you say "remote" then you've narrowed it down to the far upper Osage. The fishing is good if you are a multi-species guy, but if you strictly chase one type of fish then it's gonna suck more often than it's gonna be good. Something is almost always biting good up there (cats, whites/hybrids, bass, crappie) but unless you are constantly prepared to switch gears you'll be frustrated alot. If I lived up there I'd definitely want 3 boats, but if I was limited to just one it would be a big wide center console Jon boat. I have a realtor friend that can help you find a place if and when you get serious about it. Just shoot me a PM and I'll put you two in touch.
  24. I took my cordless drill and a 6" long 3/8" bit out to the end of Coconut's dock...I did not hit water. They are dropping the lake so it's likely to tear the hell out of some docks in the next few days.
