I think it's something with this forum that is screwing with you, because when you email me everything reads fine....but your posts on this board are always all jacked up. I've noticed that on here sometimes when I click Reply there will be content from a previous post automatically copied in. I have to hit the little "clear content" or whatever it is before I start pecking out my typical line of BS or else y'all would think I was typing under the influence. Next time just take a second and proof read it before hitting the Submit button.

That is inspiring. I gave up on it years ago and figured since I never hear a good report that it hadn't gotten any better.

Yep, I did too. Something bad happened to that lake in the late '80's and although you'll occasionally hear a good report from there the bottom line is that whatever happened is either still happening, or the lake never recovered from it.

Not if the the things I mentioned above are set properly, and the engine doesn't have any other issues. People have been trolling with 25 Merc 2-strokes for 70 years! -
That reminds me of the old "Bear poop smells like pepper spray" gig.

Me either. The main reason is because if I did it and fell in love with it then I'd have to move there, and I absolutely do not wanna live on (or even near) the coast. 2nd reason is that nearly everything that lives in Saltwater can and will kill and eat you. I watched Flipper when I was a kid and there was always the possibility of imminent human death in every episode. If it wasn't for Flipper the whole cast would have been eaten and the show wouldn't have lasted a week and a half.

Carb float setting needs to be checked, as does the throttle pickup timing, and idle mixture setting. A pin hole in the fuel pump diaphragm will dribble raw fuel into the crankcase, so if everything I mentioned first checks good then that's the only other way it can be getting a too rich mixture. -
It was basically a test run for the little jet boat I just put together. The boat performed great, only a few mods related to weight placement needed. We fished a good bit but didn't do worth a crap. Kept seeing dead 12" Rainbows on the bottom (quite a few of them, more than 10) then saw a dead 14-15" Smallie, scooped him up and he had been gigged. On the way back down we checked two of the dead bows and yep they had been gigged too. As we were pulling out a gigging rig was putting in. I asked them if they had been doing any good and he said it was their first trip out, and then he asked how far we thought he could run up...so I don't think it was them. I don't know whether to bother calling in to report it or not, the evidence is easy to find all over the bottom from Barclay up to NRO. Dead gigged rainbows and smallies pretty much everywhere. But the reality is that they probably aren't going to do anything about it, they never have before, so there's really nothing to do but get mad about it.

With fly-fishing there is so much to do. There are line tapers to ponder, leaders to build, patterns to learn, materials to aquire, flys to tie, ect. So between outings we are busy doing fishing related things, thinking about how we'll approach it next time, and we are happy as a fag in a dick tree because we are always consumed with thoughts and projects in preparation for the upcoming trip. Once we are astream there are currents to study, positioning with regards to our limitations to consider. Each technique requires a different style of rigging so we have to decide if it's worth it to re-rig and try something else or would we rather be lazy today and just keep on kicking rocks and swinging that bugger. It's a thinking man's game. Most really good fly fishermen are heavy thinkers with busy minds. Most times it is one man with one rod, one reel, and a variety of ways to use it. Fly-fishing vs. gear fishing is like Chess vs. Checkers. Gun hunting vs. Bowhunting. It's not spiritual, it's personal. I do both and I love both. My decision of whether to flyfish or gear fish isn't based on which is likely more effective under the circumstances, it based solely on how my life is going at the time and what kind of mood pattern I am in. It has nothing to do with the ancient writings of Sparse Grey Hackle, Henry David Thoreau, or any of that other philosophical literary malarky. The guys with 4k tied up in equipment just so they can go stand ankle deep at the hatchery outlets and drift glo-balls under a bobber aren't "fly fishermen", they are just guys with money who want to get away from their wives, and it just so happens that their wife likes golf so they have to find SOMETHING else to do. There, how's that ? 🤗

Media BS. Nothing else interesting (that they can share with you) is happening. The stuff that really matters is the stuff you're not allowed to know about. I assumed that you already had a grip on that.

I love Sonny's Super Sticky on peanut butter crackers, what can I say? It's like Hummus, but better.

They don't care what anybody witnesses. They might pretend to care...but care they do not. I don't play the lake/river X blindfold game. Anybody that fears disclosing a fishing hole to me has already decided that I will never be a true friend of theirs regardless, otherwise they'd give me the benefit of a doubt. I have veteran status at this fishing business, been at it long enough that I roll my eyes when guys play that game. "I found this wicked awesome stretch of river but I'm not gonna tell you where it is". Ok Must not be that awesome if a few passes by ME is gonna wipe it out. Now Oneshot? That dude will eat 'em. 😋

I didn't tell you to prove it to them. WTF are you talking about? Wouldn't matter if anybody proved anything to them, the damage (if you consider it that, like I do) is already done and there's no hope of reversing it regardless of who gets shown what. And you lost that bet, I still wanna go fishing. 😀 They are fun to catch so I'll continue chasing them, but they aren't the true full blooded whites of yesteryear.

I don't think MDC are idiots, I think they are really good at propaganda and at creating things to keep themselves on the payroll. Milking the geese. Ignorant folks couldn't pull that off as good as they do. Two hybrid stripers may or may not be able to make babies, but hybrids most definitely do interbreed successfully with white bass, and if you come fishing with me this Fall I'll prove it to you. A pure White bass is getting more scarce every year on the 4 ends of LO that I fish regularly.

I had a decent library of them but in '06 an F2 twister borrowed them and the punk never brought them back. I probably learned the most from one by Eric Leisher (sp?), it basically just teaches tying techniques for every imaginable step. Everything from wrapping dryfly hackle to marrying wings for fancy salmon flys. Every tyer should have it if they already don't. Had another good one from the pen of AK Best. Now the only actual tying "books" I have are Gierach's "Good flies", and Dave Hughes "Fishing the four seasons". I was a big Randall Kaufman fan in my earlier years. Thankfully I got over it. Then it was Jim Teeny (none more basic than that). Eventually I settled into something in between. Charlie Craven is a great tyer but he can't fish for crap.
