  1. No technological breakthroughs have happened as far as the way sonar pulses bounce around. The only change is in how the reciever interprets the return signal and displays it on the screen. You want side imaging from an old-school LCR?...cock your transducer 45° and hold your head sideways. WaaLah!
  2. First verify that you are getting 12v to the red & black guage terminals when the ignition key is in the ON position. (A quick and easy way is to turn the nav lights on....If the guage light comes on then you probably are) If no voltage to the guage... find out why and fix it. If guage is getting voltage... turn the key off and connect a ohmmeter between the sender terminal (white or brown wire usually) and the black terminal, then rock the boat. The resistance reading should jump around. If the resistance reading doesn't change....the sender is bad. If it does..., the guage is bad.
  3. I have this nagging thought that says without everything that HAS BEEN done we'd still be right where we are.
  4. I think it's just because most folks (including some MDC agents) can't tell the difference, or don't know that there is a difference.
  5. Bagnell busting loose would be kinda bad, but the real disaster would occur if Truman lost its foothold. A 45-50' wall of water would make quite a mess of this pond. Just imagine the gigantic rafts of docks, boats, and homes pouring over the top of Bagnell Dam. What a sight that would be!
  6. Evacuation was a good move, obviously, but trying to pull the lake down ASAP is a bad move at this point I think. All they are doing is making things worse down below.
  7. I'm not clear on what all the freaking out is about. It's a flood. It's not like the dam is about to collapse because of that divot on the spillway. Do you realize how thick that dam is ? Everything is going to be fine. Water has topped the dam and is headed downstream, so just let it. The flooding downstream won't be any worse than the flooding upstream. Quit trying to use the spillway at such a rate if the hole is getting bigger. It can all be fixed after the water goes down.
  8. Dang ?
  9. Just in case you're too young to know....Back "in the day" it was known by many north of I-70 as "Pro Bass Shop". You didn't get straightened out unless you bought a hat or a tee shirt. ☺
  10. Today must have been THE DAY. The reports that are coming in from friends and customers this evening are making me wanna be unemployed. Man I shoulda went out today ! ?
  11. Ya know, I'm not so sure that ball bearing swievels on spinner blades is necessary. A wet barrel swievel spins just as easily as a ball bearing swievel, plus they are lighter. Someone mentioned once that barrel swivels make a noise that might help get you bit in dirty water. Could be.
  12. When I fished the federation Berkely was one of our club sponsors, and they treated us good. I was just trying to give them a plug. I always thought that instead of spouting off all that "amino acid" nonsense they should have just advertised what their baits REALLY smell like. Sales would go through the roof!
  13. Frilly??? ? Now see, that's your OWN mind going there. ? Don't automatically assume they weren't just plain boring ol' cotton.
  14. Sorry ?
  15. Hey, I just mentioned what Powerbait smelled like. It was these other jackasses that took it to the gutter. ? If there was anything else in the world that smelled like that then I would have described it otherwise. Besides, I have gotten way too many "Likes" in this thread for ANYBODY to pretend they've been offended. ?
  16. Honey Badger ?
  17. That only works if it is shoreline mud. It has to have some goose and coon poop in it. While we are discussing this....Who was it that decided freshwater fish liked the taste of salt ? Pretty smart dude whoever it was, cuz no matter what you grab out of the lake and shove in your mouth, you are gonna wish like #ell you had some salt. ?
  18. You're not a legend until you cease to be awesome, so yeah maybe.... ?
  19. Employers criticize their employees all the time. They seldom apologize for it. ?
  20. That's interesting ? For the benefit of whom?
  21. Not surprised. I'm in an entirely different book because I've already read that one. ?
  22. Nope. Never. My word is good. I'm a rock. ?
  23. ???
  24. Not in writing, but a promise is a promise. I now have to adopt the Bambi's Dad philosophy when speaking openly about the dept. of Conservation or any of their doings (or lack thereof) unless I have rock solid undisputable proof of every word I type. Otherwise potential retribution may be launched....and who has time for that?
  25. I made a promise to never say a negative word about the MDC and their studies on a public forum ever again, but I can't help but point out that when the results and decisions made based on their "studies" turn out to be 180° from what genuinely dedicated and reasonably knowledgeable anglers either know, or have learned.....Then it isn't just BS when they claim that something "is off". The fact that the angler(s) have not recorded "data" all of their lives to use as future proof shouldn't make it annoying to hear, especially to folks that claim to care.
