  1. TMI I could have gone all day without knowing that.
  2. Shoot them a lowball offer. I wouldn't mind having a little place off the grid. I lived 4 months without electricity and it was good for me. I stayed clean, got regular excersize, ate better/smarter, saved some money, and got plenty of sleep. I highly recommend it.
  3. Early Winter and Late Winter are fabulous. Mid-Winter usually sucks unless you know of a select area (or two) where fish occasionally get active, and learn through trial&error when to hit them. A couple of the spots I know about are "community holes" that get hit pretty regularly. Everyone that hits them will usually catch one or two, but the guy that is there when the real magic happens will load the boat almost effortlessly. After over 25 years of living here I can't explain when that time is, but with one specific spot sometimes I can just feel it, and more times than not I am right. Total gut instinct type stuff, it makes no explainable sense whatsoever.
  4. I know nothing about share trading but I think it's way past time to start practicing independent thought. Relying on so called professionals when they freely give out unsolicited information is seldom wise. My dad once told me that anytime someone makes an effort to tell you something, and it's something that you never even inquired about, then usually they are doing it for THEIR benefit, not yours. I never asked if I could get cheese on my tater-tots, it's not even mentioned on the menu, so why is the gal on the intercom bringing it up?
  5. What is the spoon of choice? I have used all different kinds but the one that always seems to stay on top of my pile of jigging spoons is the old CC Spoon (cheap) with a little bit of a bend in it, and an upgraded hook. I bought a handful of these awhile back, thinking that they'd be good..... but they SUCK. I have tried painting the CC spoons white, and chartreuse, and white/red, but the plain silver is always the one that does best for me.
  6. Even though I know it's not true I still never leave one sitting on the shop floor. I'll find a piece of cardboard or plywood to set it on, even if it is just going to set there for a day. If a person lives with a certain belief long enough it becomes impossible to fully let go of when you finally learn it is bogus.
  7. I played with one of those once upon a time. I wasn't impressed with the action that much but I was impressed by how far I could cast it. That fat rear-end causes it to cast like a rocket, which is probably why the striper fishermen like it.
  8. Somewhere around the age of 35 I began to realize that almost everything that had been forced into my brain my whole life was complete and total BS. A rethinking of every aspect of life began about that time and I'm still not fully straightened out. At this rate I may be reasonably sharp right before it's my time to take the dirt nap. We are progressively dumbed down and our brains manipulated from the moment we get off the tit.
  9. Straight razor? Or a set of Ninja throwing stars? I give up
  10. I haven't seen a tape dispenser like that since junior high school.
  11. Your Dock !!!!???? ?
  12. Y'all are easily entertained. Maybe you should play all the Jackass episodes during your Christmas party. ? The crawdad on testicle, and snapping turtle on butt cheek episodes are classic.
  13. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and call BS. There's probably a few but I don't think it's even worth mentioning. Thomas Hill had a fair population of Northerns back in the 70's but you don't ever hear of anyone catching any nowadays.
  14. I bet his father is very proud. There was a 12 y/o kid in my home town that heard if you smeared Vaseline all over your body that you could set yourself on fire and not get burned. He rubbed himself down and then poured lighter fluid all over himself and BUSTED THAT MYTH. He didn't have a prom date in high school.
  15. Has there ever been a bait made that DIDN'T catch fish?
  16. No problem, but the regs say that head and tail must remain intact while on the waterway... obviously so they can check the length of the fish. I guess you could keep the carcasses until you are a few miles away from the access, but seriously, who is gonna do that? An agent would have to get fishy smell on his hands in order to check them, and they are way above THAT. Them boys gotta stay fresh and clean.
  17. The Horny Toad is no more. It is H.Toads now, and the "H" supposedly doesn't stand for "horny". It's HAPPY !
  18. I'm sad that we never see or hear bullfrogs on Lake O anymore. I guess all the development has finally killed them off. ? The bass in this lake don't even know what a frog is.
  19. Oh what fun we will have !!!
  20. Heated dock fishing has pretty much become a thing of the past. There are still a few around but don't expect them to be nice and warm when you get there. No sense in heating a dock when nobody is using it.
  21. I recirculate with fresh water from the lake when on the water, and I only have a short drive home (the boat is still dripping when I pull in my driveway) So I just hose out the livewell after I'm done cleaning fish. No residual slime issues. If I had an hour long drive home I would clean my fish at the ramp and put the fillets in a bag and on ice until I got home. Technically illegal but that's a stupid law I'd break without any guilt. If the walls of your livewell were nasty, just imagine what the recirc pump and associated hoses are like. I'd definitely flush with some fresh water from your garden hose before it dries or freezes.
  22. Well the gel stuff is real easy to control, and works better than a slimey piece of soggy tape, but suit yourself.
  23. Nope, ya gotta have a boat to go retrieve it when those giant trebles find a log. ?
  24. How much is this "Live Target" version worth?
  25. That would put me at 112.10/hr. Beings as how I am falling short of my expected 45-51k/yr. I think I can justify it. As much studying and T/E experimentation as I do off the clock I'd like to make at least as much as a guy who builds model bullfrogs. I mean, what good is a 1700.00 bullfrog if your freakin' boat won't run?
