I went out this evening to play with the green bass, but about 3:30 the surface began to boil all around me....and I couldn't resist it. Limited easily on a Pop-R at the mouth of a shallow cove and they were all bigguns. My boat is totally trashed with poop and puke everywhere. Those dudes are doing some serious eating right now.

It wasn't a "statement", Chief it was a personal thought. I don't pretend to know everything, I'm just sharing my thoughts about it. That's what we do here. So if it's not to protect the population of game, then why are limits enforced ? Educate me.

The supporting evidence is the fact that they impose limits on the harvest of every other animal that has a heartbeat. They do that because they KNOW that if people were allowed to kill all they want then said animal would soon be extinct. That IMO should be all the supporting evidence you need. I may not be able to kill every fly in my house with a flyswatter but in 5 minutes I can make it to where they aren't a problem anymore.

I get that. Guys will actively "hunt them" until the numbers get down and the expectation of seeing some dwindles. But if hunters and landowners killed them on sight from now until they didn't see them anymore the results would be positive, and at ZERO extra cost to taxpayers. I just have a suspicion that MDC is gonna milk this goose for a long LONG time.....and not get rid of very many hogs. I could be wrong, but I'm one of those fellas that thinks we can take care of things like this just fine if they'd allow it. Having "zero hogs" ain't gonna happen whether MDC traps them or people are allowed to shoot them.

They can trap them if they want, but they should still allow hunting/shooting of them wherever hunting and shooting is legal. I don't have any stake in this at all since I've never been bothered by a feral hog in my life. The whole argument that if you shoot one they all disperse and then they are scattered and not in a big pack. Well GOOD! Isn't that the desired hog behavior we'd rather have? As for the tally of hogs harvested by hunters.....those numbers don't mean squat. Is there some kind of magical satellite thing that racks up a number every time a hogs blood pools up on the soil?

One of my buddies does that thing where you grab the line and send your rod/reel down the line to knock the bait free. I have a perfectly good hound dawg in the boat, but he just loves to do that trick. One of these days.... the inevitable is gonna happen. And I'm gonna laugh like a madman. ?

I've heard of this problem, even back in the days of Flashers, but I've never had to fight it. Many units have a suppressor setting or ASP (signal processing) that is supposed to block that type of interference.

The motor needs to be able to breathe. If the cover is vented it's ok I guess, but having the fresh air vents on the cowling blocked is a bad idea.

I'm gonna say that's because you either suck at explaining, or your points are total BS. If guys were allowed (and encouraged) to shoot hogs on sight they would be extinct quicker and at less expense than all this trapping crap is taking. And as for the bury/harvest cost thing......Last I checked, backhoe operators got paid more than meat processors. I can dress out a hog quicker and cheaper than I can bury one. When was the last time any of y'all dug a hole that size? I planted 8 Mumms for my sweetie a week ago and I still have a blood-blister from it. I'm so sure that MDC needs to buy another brand new backhoe, trailer and 2 ton truck to pull it, so they can bury hogs now. A blood blister on a MDC employee's hand would equal a workman's comp claim and 2 weeks of paid leave.

Good job! Yeah as far as I can tell the Whites are the best bite going on the lake right now. I haven't done any crappie fishing because I'm still stocked with Crappie fillets from Spring (I need to eat some of those!) but from what I hear you have to work your way through a bunch of little ones to get a few slabs. The shallow LM bite is steady but I'm not finding many good ones. Lots of short fish with the occasional keeper. And the recent derby weights indicate that pretty much everyone else is having the same results. A good rain would be welcome.
