  1. Interesting. I've never seen crappie above Redbeards before.
  2. I'd rig the cav.plate 2" below the pad initially.... and go UP from there. 24p 3 blade.
  3. Hours of work ? To touch up 2 treble hooks? I can do it quicker than you could change out ONE of them. Trebles are a breeze to sharpen.
  4. Yeah I know. Whatever the manufacturer puts on them is never gonna be good enough. I get it. Really they shouldn't even bother.
  5. Once upon a time some Pro mentioned that he upgraded his crankbait hooks and all the neophyte fishermen immediately thought that sounded like a cool thing to do (cuz we just love hotrodding things). Again I am taken back to the day, not so long ago, when the stock hooks that come on crankbaits TODAY are way better than the ones that loaded so many boats in the past.
  6. Nothing better than being able to buy a used boat that you personally know the history on. 6 years seems a little young for bad seats. Did it set out in the weather all the time?
  7. Since you said "trout and crappie" in the same sentence I assume you were at Barclay.
  8. I know that they begin showing up in lake O tribs way before the white bass do. My early white bass explorations almost always turn up zero Whites but a few walleye. I'd say that they are the first sign of life in the creeks every year.
  9. Well that's cool! I assume it is either an easy swim or they never flood over ?
  10. Yes, Larry Gale. Sorry, I knew it as Roach before MDC took it over and renamed it. Livin' in the past I am.
  11. Deer hunting on islands ? How big are the islands? I wouldn't even expect a field mouse to be living on a river island.
  12. I dunno, but I don't think it stays that cold for that long around here. I never even try to get 3 years out of a boat battery. Knowing that my batteries (3) are pretty fresh is worth 300.00 every other year to me. I don't wait for them to go bad because I see what old crappy batteries do to stuff. Same with my trucks, flashlights, ect. they get new batteries whether they want it or not.
  13. Rapala has been a big name in fishing for like FOREVER, and I'm not real clear on why. The only lure they ever made that was truly unique was the old floating minnow in its various sizes. Everyone has forgotten the Fat Rap which if you know anything about crankbaits you should know that the Fat Rap is the perfect silent Wiggle Wart.....But nobody throws it, and it never gets a mention. Rapala sells ALOT of baits, and their stuff is good quality, but yet you seldom hear their name in the winners circle.
  14. I'm sold !
  15. MDC Roach access, or for 5.00 you can launch at 'Der Vaters Edge' resort at the 54 bridge... .Assuming it is ice free there (should be).
  16. I guess my question concerning the maintainers is... Why? A periodic/semi-consistent 2amp feed is really unnecessary IMO. Your battery sat on a shelf for many months (unmaintained) before you bought it. If you aren't using it for a couple months then hit it with 10amps Manual for 30 minutes or so every 3-4weeks IF IT NEEDS IT. If static voltage is 12.7 or above then leave it alone. If it is 12.5 or below give it 10amps for an hour or so....but NOT ALL DAY/NIGHT. Cold weather isn't any harder on a battery than hot weather is.
  17. I don't expect it to clear up much anytime soon. Alot of dirty water being moved through the main Osage. Warrior says the Niangua is clearing, I'd go there.
  18. I haven't been out recently but when I go I'll start with a 5" Hula grub on chunk rock. Or a jerkbait if I can find clear water.
  19. Yep. All it takes is for a diode to get hot and fail, then the battery starts boiling. If it boils partially dry (which yours probably did) then lead gets hot and starts moving around until it shorts out, and you have instant fire. I don't trust the Auto/Maintain feature on any charger. I charge on Manual and check it every 30-40 minutes, with a few "cool down" periods if the battery is below 1/2 charged. I've seen them blow 4 times so I'm pretty paranoid about it.
  20. I never NEVER leave a charger on overnight. There's no reason for it. I don't care how much you pay for a battery charger the diodes in them are still the same. I preach this on here all the time.....If the integrity of a battery is at all questionable REPLACE IT. Not intending to knock your service center but if your battery was so dead that he felt it necessary to leave the charger on it overnite then he should have just sold you a fresh one.
  21. 38ish and still brown. Some really good fish are being caught but I don't know where or how just yet.
  22. This∆∆ is actually very true. The only ones that recognize a Kentucky when they catch one are those of us that are totally ate up with bass fishing. The rest of the Missouri population looks at you like you just farted when you say "That's not a LM it's a Spotted bass".
  23. Right on, man ! Perfect day for it.
  24. There has to be more at the heart of this than the unwillingness to pay 1.69 per head of cattle. I ain't buying it. Who holds the job of driving out there once a month to count cows? Gimme a friggin' break.
