  1. All good reels but I really have no use for any of them. Thanks though. There used to be an aftermarket gear set for the round reels that came in 3 different ratios. I even had several sets of them but lost them in the tornado. Can't remember who made them, and a Google search turns up nothing. I need one more 6.3:1 reel so I can have one rod dedicated to lipless baits since that has become a big part of my fishing style lately.
  2. I only have more round reels, so let's talk cash (or motor parts) if you have one.
  3. Do you have any Royal (6.3:1) Ambassadors ?
  4. True that ^ I wish for longer, easier casts every so often, but low profile reels just cramp my hands. I feel like I have to squeeze them to hold on, whereas the old round bombs just kinda sit in my hand nice and secure with no effort at all. Plus they have enough weight to balance out a heavier rod. It's all personal preference but I'll be sad on the day that round reels go away.
  5. My issue with the Mustang type vests is that something inflated on my chest seems like it would make it difficult to swim. I don't wanna be reduced to back stroking. If I know I'm gonna be knocked unconscious then cool, but if the idea is to get back out of the water ASAP then as long as I'm not dead or sleeping I think I'm better off with no balloons on my titties.
  6. Oh they'll take it off of you right away. Gotta search you for weapons and drugs ya know. Their safety is way more important than yours, but even they don't wear PFD's.
  7. I just watched a guy on COPS standing soaking wet in a icey river in Michigan for about 40 minutes huffing paint thinner. The cops finally got him out and it took 4 of them to tackle him and hold him down. So apparently all this hypothermia crap is in your mind.

  9. I wear mine if I'm going to hammer down in the bass boat, but I don't even carry one in the Jon boat or in the canoe. Fishing with one on is never gonna happen with me. I don't just fish with my wrists I pretty much use my whole body, and a bulky object around my chest is more likely to be the cause of me hurting myself than it is to be something that will save me. Besides, dying while fishing is part of my grand master plan.
  10. In very cold water too ! The point is that when you think you are about to die the temperature of the water doesn't even phase you.
  11. I got ejected from a bass boat @ 70+ mph into 38-40° water. Had to swim 40-50 yards back to the boat and then it wouldn't restart (battery got thrown and ripped the cable ends off), took me about 20 minutes to repair that and get the motor fired back up. Ran back to the truck and trailered the boat. About 10 minutes into my drive back home I started noticing that I was cold. Got home and got undressed while standing in the warm shower. Only then did I realize that I had busted a rib, blackened an eye and broken a couple teeth. Adrenaline works !
  12. OK we're gonna have fun NOW! I wanna see you fall out of a Pond Prowler and show me how to knock yourself unconscious while doing it. You'd have to like jump up, do a half flip, and slam your temple into a hard corner of the boat or the head of the trolling motor. No I get it, we have to really use our imagination and create the alignment of certain objects and perfect the timing of it all.... The boat is exactly 4' from a partially submerged boulder (a soggy stump isn't hard enough), you stand up to pee, drop your Johnson on the floor of the boat and get a jig hook stuck in it, you leap with pain and the hook in your Johnson hangs on the lip of the seat tilting you 72° as you exit the boat, your head slams into the boulder...... and then we get to divy up all your fishing gear regardless of whether you have a PFD on or not. All the PFD does is make life easier on the recovery crew. So there you are, floating dead with your crank out, and a Ned rig stuck in it. Hell I'd rather sink !
  13. Whatever Are you catching any fish out of them ? That's all I really care about. If you're putting 50+ miles per week on your bike then I'm not worried about you making it to the bank if you fall out. You're good. If you go buy a PFD that fits over all your extra clothes.....then go out and get skunked..... THEN you are a pu$$y for sure.
  14. No I wouldn't go that far. A pu$$y wouldn't even fish. I just wonder how much longer it will be before we all start padding our walls and rounding off table corners.
  15. Good to hear that you're back home, JD.
  16. Guess you could tether it to your ankle like a surfer. Speaking of surfers...why don't they wear PFD's ? My true thoughts are that we as a society have become so worried and unconfident in ourselves. PFD's in paddlecraft, harnesses in tree stands, bicycle helmets, eye protection and gloves while chopping up carrots, ect. Really ? How do we live past 25 years of age if we are so clumsy and vulnerable? We are slowly breeding SKILL out of our species.
  17. These are the heads I use on both Here's the tweeked RR head. If you do your eyelet like that then you can "tune" it to run straight just like a crankbait..... BUT it doesn't work if the hook eye comes out of the lead BEHIND the swivel, like the ones on Tad's
  18. Synthetic smallmouth. I'm automatically opposed. The tribe hu ?
  19. I do pretty good on Kentucky's with 3" Sassy shads and 3" Kalin grubs. Both on 1/8 heads and 8# line.
  20. Dude ! I need to get a mess of those.
  21. My point is: the boats being paid cash for were made prior to the swtcharoo.
  22. No she wasn't, she was a hag. Sweet old women don't rape Smallies in December.
