Lithium lifepo 100 amp batteries?
fishinwrench replied to Dutch's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Well I'd say that you're smarter than the guy that designed it....... but then you DID buy the freakin' thing. 🙄 -
What ? Braided line has been around forever. Long before spinning reels I'm pretty sure.

Spinning reels have been around since the 1930's Anybody that hasn't figured out how to use them by now should just stick to handlines and cane poles.

Lithium lifepo 100 amp batteries?

Plenty of "deep dives" have been done, since they are great for cordless tools and cell phones. But once you get into bigger stuff like golf carts, trolling motors, and (god forbid) full size cars & trucks.... I think you cross the line on what is actually safe & smart. Some things look great on paper, but in the real world of hillbillies and Rube Goldberg types...... you're just begging for trouble. Large voltage capacity lithium cells are kinda in the same category as dynamite, mortar shells, and other things that you can't just pick up at the local Farm & Home. I mean wasn't a Lithium power cell (thermal runaway) at least partially responsible for the Challenger space shuttle catastrophe? They can't (or shouldn't) just be used without constant monitoring and proper control. And even with constant monitoring and proper control......things can go bad wrong. -
That's code, in case you didn't know 😉 Cuz you know darn well that woman can whip up some rice with zero effort at all. 😅 You lucky bastard

You'll still get to see any GOOD PLAYS on YT. Nothing is lost.

Oh geeze, dementia is setting in 🙄 When you typed that, the "remote" was in your hand. If at anytime you can't find your way out, just look AWAY from the light. 👍

Anytime a company emerges, and is selling something warranted for 11 years......If you think that company will still be around in 11 years you are dillusional. They'll make all their money in the first 4-6 years......then they'll be GONE. There won't even be a soul to answer a phone there when the integrity of that cell is in question. So the name that you trust today isn't any better than a name off of Amazon. -

Yeah I don't eat them. I'd much rather have a chicken salad sandwich. -

Absolutely! I'd do it in a heartbeat if it wouldn't put me in the poor house. I'd like to go back to carburetors, points & condensers in our vehicles too, and get the computers out of them as well. I do like my graphite rods though ......and the fly lines of today are definitely a step in the right direction. -

Listen to the guy that chases down old cast iron cookware because he can't eat an egg cooked on Teflon, and chooses to fish with flygear from the 1800's 🙄 😅😅😅 -

I don't think it has been that big of an issue YET, but because of the cost of them I'm afraid it will be a bigger problem later on. People will be reluctant to swap them out when they probably should. And I'm not sure how the disposal of them is going to pan out. Surely the powers that be have thought this out, right? -
According to the data I'm 100% native to these here waters. Been here since the dawn of creation 😇

Depends on whether you're at a place where you can just step out and walk away from it or not. Imagine being out on a lake, in January, way out off a point somewhere.....When all of a sudden a battery starts sizzling, popping, and belching out big plumes of toxic smoke. If lithium battery fires weren't a different kind of animal then fire departments wouldn't be holding special classes on DEALING with them. We have a family friend (EMT Firefighter) who has been to all those classes, and he and his co-horts say the only protocol is to GET AWAY, SAY A PRAYER, and wait for it to settle down on its own. Cutting one in half doesn't work. And that would always work with a lead-acid battery that has shorted internally. Matter of fact just blasting a hole in a lead-acid battery case, allowing the electrolyte to escape, will stop the electrical current immediately. The quicker a lithium battery goes up in flames....the better. But typically they just melt down, fill the air with wicked deadly smoke so thick that flames can only kick up around the outer perimeter and go outward from there. It can take a Lithium cell a few hours to self destruct.....and to my knowledge there's nothing you can do about it. The main reason lithium cells are SO EXPENSIVE is because of the internal breakers whose job is to prevent a meltdown.....BUT long after the warranty has expired, you know those breakers will eventually fail. And guys aren't gonna be swapping them out near as frequently because they are EXPENSIVE AS HELL to replace. I guarandamntee you'll start hearing about PLENTY of lithium battery meltdowns here in less than 10 years. Mark my word ! I know one thing......I want completely out of this business before guys start wheeling in used boats with 10 year old lithium cells in them. Get THOSE SONSABITCHES outa here ! -
. No, but she did have a fine little pollywog on her 👍 😂 Notice I said "did"...... Pringles, frozen pizza, and Dr.Pepper pretty much ruined it.

It ain't wrong if it's working for you. 🤷♂️ Either way you've got a flap of foam sticking out in front of your hook eye, that doesn't exactly wanna fly without spinning. That's the point I'm getting at.

The REAL reason I like flouro on everything (drys as well) is because my No-Slip Loop knots are a full pound stronger with fluorocarbon. And using the loop knot doesn't allow the tippet to boss the fly around 😉 It can give you up to 60 extra inches of drag-free drift.

Can you say "4000.00 livewell pump job" ! 😂

I am so glad that I woke up from that dream I had of becoming a professional angler (WHEW !) Way too much $#!t going on here for ME ! Y'all youngsters have fun with it. I'm out 🫂 Thankfully. I feel like I truly dodged a bullet. Really TRULY! 🥴

Well, it ain't a White or a Hybrid Striper (no visible lateral line) so I'm guessing Yeah, Yellow Bass. Yuck 😕
