  1. Oh that's not how I feel, that's the reality that a person has to suppress in order to cope around here. Conorsix is right about Bryant's though (kinda). Good folks and conversation can be found there for sure, but unless your shopping list consists of nothing more than some postage stamps, jigheads and a decorative candle you will be doing additional traveling, I guarantee it. And yeah, G2M has beer.
  2. Bass Pro Shops Prank:
  3. So that little 40 yard stretch between the bridge and the mouth is "closed to all fishing", like some kinda nit-picky buffer zone? How freaking ignert is that ? I swear, my attitude towards that entire state park just keeps getting more negative. Am I really becoming that bad of a curmudgeon? I just can't get behind ANYTHING that goes on there anymore. Ugh!
  4. Life in "Gravi" ain't for everybody but it does tend to grow on ya. Most folks land here for various reasons and just kinda get stuck. The fishing is good but not really any better than other arms of the lake. Far from quiet during the Summer thanks to a growing number of party spots, there is certainly no shortage of loud oversized watercraft. And sadly there is not a single bank you'd consider picturesque in the entire Gravois arm. Homes along the shoreline range from Plain to downright Ugly in most areas, with houses built so close together that folks are able to smell what the neighbor is cooking for dinner. The wildlife is mostly half-tame,inbred and retarded, resulting in more deer/turkey/squirrels/ect being killed with vehicles than rifles and shotguns. The roads suck, and the lawmen treat everyone as if they are fresh out of prison.....So if by chance you ARE then you definitely won't feel "picked on or discriminated against". If your wife likes to shop then be sure to keep plenty of gas in her car and a fist full of 5 dollar bills in the console for the Toll bridge cuz you can't buy anything here but tater chips, cigarettes, and day old bread. And no we don't even have a decent tackle shop. Wow, responding to this post has really been a dose of reality for me. If you decide to buy a place in Gravi I think I have one for sale.
  5. Yeah a SB would be a no-no. Interesting that he ran you for warrants though. I guess any contact with authority results in that kind of detainment these days. Must be an over abundance of wanted fugitives on the loose now.
  6. Really ? When did that start ?
  7. No kidding! A 80k bass boat should absolutely come standard with a radiant deck heating system.
  8. What kind of jig a was he talking about? Marabou jigs, rabbit fur jigs, thread jigs, egg patterns tied on jigheads, and everything short of a plastic grub on a jighead is definitely a legal "fly".
  9. You're supposed to yell "Yabba-Dabba-Dooo" when the whistle blows.
  10. They just display those 80k rigs to make the 40k rigs appear more affordable.
  11. jmes, loving to fish, and being Elite are two drastically different levels of angling prowess.
  12. Mumbles at the Bassmaster Classic:
  13. What I should really have on the back window of MY truck is some HotPoint and Frigidaire bling, cuz that tells where my passion is lately.
  14. Hey, those turned out sweet! If I catch a fish while wearing a pink Tutu can I get a fly rod version ?
  15. The stocker rainbows that make it to the lower stretch are "hypothetically" safe until they reach 15". Instant pressure on a truckload of 10-12" bows is a good thing, it flushes them out of their schooling tendancy and gets rid of the stupid ones.
  16. I actually wasn't referring to guys that deck themselves out solely for fashion reasons, I was referring to actual "pro level competitors". There's too many of them IMO. Too many "tournaments" with too many contestants. I just think it's time to up the ante, stop the paybacks after 3rd place... or something to clear out the rif-raf. For real though, a couple every year would be cool, but 4-6 organized events every WEEK on every lake has taken away from the coolness of it all. They aren't anything of interest to spectators anymore....they have now just become something that is always IN THE WAY. Everybody that wants to be a good angler CAN BE a good angler now. So what's the point ? It has reached crapshoot status.
  17. Boy they sure do! Sorry. No need to dig out the dremel though, just heat it up a bit with a cig lighter and the barb will squeeze down nicely (not TOO much though). Most of the temper seems to be in the bend/point area. I couldn't get the shaft to break. I still have 4 boxes of these dang things....Well one box is 6 short NOW thanks to YOU !
  18. Just a SWAG here, but maybe, just maaaaybeee they left the city in the early AM with plans of hitting the NF or EP, stopped to pee and one of them took a quick look at the guage....."Holy crap the NF/EP is unexpectedly blowing out! Let's just turn around and fish the Current instead". So they did. The drifter? It prolly stayed on the trailer.
  19. Welcome. Pull up a chair Which end of the lake do you stir up ?
  20. Could it be that the "Professional Angler" boom has finally reached it's threshold ? I mean for crying out loud, it has darn near gotten to the point that there are more "sponsored pros" and wannabe's out on the lake at any given time than there are regular guys that just like to fish alot. It's just a bit rediculis, is it not ? Every county in every state has it's own Pro Bass Fishermen. I perceive a drastic imbalance there. Surely a few guys need to be left out there to pay retail.
  21. Here is a thread containing the thoughts of some respected White/Norfork pro's. http://flyfishingarkansasandmissouri.yuku.com/topic/9118/Jets-vs-Props
  22. I believe a study was done that pretty much laid that theory to rest. A depth change of less than 3' equates to more of a pressure change on a fishes innards than any seasonal or frontal atmospheric pressure possible.
  23. I have one little area located that is my savior during even the nastiest of cold fronts. All it consists of is the mouth area of a very small spring creek with a constant flow of no more than maybe 20-25cfs and a maximum water depth of only 6-8ft. where it enters the lake. There is never a drastic measurable water temp difference in the area but there is always something there that will bite. One day it might be Whites, the next day LM or Crappie, but it is like the fish take turns feeding there. Never have I fished it and caught a mixed bag, but there is ALWAYS something biting there. I have searched the lake high and low trying to find similar areas but I have found none as dependable as the one I speak of. I have no idea what sets it apart from other spring influences, it just seems to have something magical going on with it.
  24. I would expect THIS to curb it... http://www.moga.mo.gov/mostatutes/stathtml/30600001471.html
