  1. Ahh the gravy of a defense attorney.... Knowing that the hardest thing he has to do is confuse 6 people who aren't sharp enough to get themselves excused from jury duty. Sorry, couldn't keep that one in.
  2. 12-13 inchers are from 2012 most likely. They grow real fast the first year (usually about 10") then pick up about 1 1/2" per year afterwards. So anything 8-9" now is a 2014 fish. Those good 16"ers are 2011 year class fish I would say. Darn few make it to their 4th year so loosing a whole year-class in the Gravois and Glaize arms is going to be a future bummer for the whole lower end of the lake. Pomme de Terre lost 2 consecutive year-classes and darn near decimated the white bass fishing there.
  3. Arson comes to mind. I swear I'd rather have a house full of rattlesnakes... The old timers swear by hedge apples, and it seemed to work in a camper we had. Got any nearby? It's worth a try.
  4. You'll remember that triptrip for awhile and get plenty of milage out of it. Good times !
  5. I'm actually a tad concerned about the Whites here. We had a very, Very weak spawn this Spring and all the spots where the yearlings always hang out have been void of them this Summer/Fall. I'm almost certain that we lost a year-class of whites. We'll be able to tell for sure next year. Has anyone seen any under 10" this Fall?
  6. Bingo. And one way they get busted is by screwing them into the top vent hole. On some LU's there isn't clearance for the mag-stick on the top cavity. When you tighten the screw up it folds it over and falls into the gearcase.
  7. Never tried it, but I respect Suzy's recommendation and will assume that it tastes like a piece of weatherstripping. I'll have the broiled salmon instead, and please pass the doob.
  8. I might be even stupider after reading all that. Is that even possible? Suzy, you are overestimating my influence here. Nobody GAF what I think, so don't worry. No students will get shorted critical resources (or weed money) on my account. I'm quite sure of that.
  9. Good job on Saturday! We were flyfishing for them under that high blue sky and knew exactly where some were....yet could only get an occasional single to chase and bite. Sunday I totally had my way with them though. (same area, same fly's, ect.) I attributed that to the addition of a few clouds. I'd catch one and 5 others would follow him to the boat. How deep, and how far off the bank were you getting the bites on Saturday ? Just curious
  10. Atta boy, Pete. Keep that calamari comin'!
  11. The anti research vibe was spot on. I had never heard of it, googled it, and all I saw initially was stuff about octopie, clams, and salmon. (iow; commercial seafood). I didn't "research" any further.
  12. Dropped Pin near Kiheka, MO http://goo.gl/maps/1LOu4
  13. It won't. If it blew a hole out the side of the housing then you broke a shift clutch or a pinion gear. When you changed the gearlube did you put the plug with the magnet on the top, or the bottom ? If you say "what magnet" then I think I know what caused your gear failure
  14. Who says it has to be an RV park? There's lots of ways to make money with a piece of land.
  15. You can usually launch at any of the resorts on EE that have ramps for a couple bucks. Or Der'vaters edge at the 54 bridge. Or Lamplighter resort at the 5 bridge. You'll spend more than the ramp fee in fuel getting to those areas from Gale. You can also launch at Greenmill or Little Niangua campgrounds, you'll need a 4x4 at LN.
  16. It was a question not a statement. Glad you enjoyed it though. Been studying fishing related stuff for over 40 years and this is the first I've ever heard of the AFS, what can I say? .
  17. I realize that this is the "Missouri Chapter" and all, but does the AFS have any freshwater accomplishments in their resume ? They appear more heavily focused on Salmon and saltwater related concerns, no ?
  18. As a general safety rule, jumper cables on a boat are a No-No! Just move the battery's, or their leads. Boat riggers go to great lengths to eliminate the possibility of sparks in the bilge area.....DONT create them yourself.
  19. OK let me dig my human eyeballs out, put my fish eyes in.... Soft light from directly above (mostly cloudy day ) Sitting low in the dark, looking towards soft light above Further into the dark Interesting about the purple! No surprise about chartreuse! Hot pink floro-fiber is freaking WORTHLESS, hu ? But Krystal flash works! Add in some greenish fog.... and it's anybody's guess.
  20. The whites are biting Now...jus'sayin
  21. Double-duty fishinduck rig ? 1648, or bigger?
  22. I wouldn't bash ya for wanting a jet pump, they are sweet. I will if ya bolt it onto a 4-stroke though
  23. Outstanding work there! Are you gonna wait until April to use them, or are you fixin' to head South ? Not sure what the facts are regarding popper colors, but white or yellow belly's are as good as any other color. I do like the looks of that red bellied job though. Alot !
  24. 56-62° You can still get bit on a WTD bait around steep seawalls, but the buzzbait bite is probably done. The white bass are on fire everywhere, and the bigger crappie should start getting easier to find any day now....if not already. I haven't tried the crappie yet myself so I may be late to the party.
  25. I think we inadvertently hijacked this thread though. How did we end up discussing LO whites in a TR greenbass thread? Good place to hide it I reckon.
