Tobacco is just a PLANT. You sit around a campfire happy as a clam. Pilfer around in huge piles of burning leaves. Stand over a 55 gallon barrel of burning garbage poking it with a stick. Burn off acres of wooded hillside with all manner of vegetative growth, and it's all for the greater good... .......But then someone ignites a 2" stick of rolled tobacco within 25 yards of you, and suddenly your respiratory system goes into shock, and the concerns of contracting lung and lymph nodal cancer become overwhelming. 🤔 Meanwhile the fallout of hairspray in your bathroom, the fumes from nail polish and it's " remover", and the diesel exhaust from the guy next to you at the drive-thru at the bank go unnoticed. Dude, your brain, and the effectiveness of its programming, should be a case study. 😂

I used to shoot trap every Wednesday night at the local trap range. One evening there was a group of "citizens" and an "instructor" finishing up a C&C certification class out there. Watching those people fumble around with their "weapons" was the scariest thing I've ever seen.....and they were just minutes from being handed a legal certificate to carry. Now you don't even need a certificate 😳 So yeah, AGREE on the STUPID part !!!!! "judicios marksmanship" with a housewife (or house-guy) and a 2-4" barreled pistol is a JOKE !

When you think about it, this whole thing about posts on the internet lasting for all eternity is quite insane...... pointless...... wasteful. Ditto. This area is the dryest it has been since I moved here 35 years ago. We are a literal tinderbox. One carelessly tossed cigarette butt and this whole county could go up in flames. 😳 I'm kinda freaked out about it. I'm truly surprised that we made it through the 4th of July. The lack of any significant breeze is the only thing saving us at this point.

Speaking of gardening...... Something was eating Sugarbritches roses and Hosta's. She wanted me to get the air rifle out and declare war on the offending critter UNTIL she met them. Suddenly she LOVES them, and has decided that they can eat all the flowers they want to 🙄 I said "Yeah, a diet of roses, hibiscus, and hostas might make those loins taste great !," 😋

Oh I get it, I just suck at it. So talking about how stupid it is.....is comforting to me. 😁 There are people up the road from us that sell DELICIOUS fresh veggies. So I can escape my shortcomings by claiming to care deeply about supporting them. 👍 🙂 Just don't start growing tobacco, because Phillip Morris needs my money worse than you do......They have lawyers to pay for!!!!!

The grocery store is full of them. Pardon my smartassery, I don't understand "gardening". Veggies are cheap.

There is one good part to all of this dryness....No ticks/chiggers, and no flys or bugs. I haven't even seen a junebug or a horsefly. No wasps, bees, or mud daubers either. That part is kinda cool 👍 The boards on my deck and picnic table are curling up like pretzels though. These idiot hillbillies here are gonna burn the whole county down this weekend 😳

We are as dry here in Gravois mills as I've ever witnessed. There are still leaves in the bottom of the ditches from when I blew them in there last October. These little occasional sprinkles aren't cutting it.....We need RAIN ! REAL RAIN!

I have no doubt. I was just curious as to WHY. On Lake O you can find bluegill under just about every dock, and along bluff banks, and in the very backends of coves, or around bridge pilings........Or you can find them suspended out in the middle of nowhere on any given day. The only problem with either of those location patterns is that they are ALL runts. For some reason we just don't grow bluegills over 8" here 🤷‍♂️. I suspect it's because of a lack of forage. Finding a location where the 9-11 inchers live would be really cool.....but I don't think such a location exists here.

The curiosity of that prediction is overwhelming. What could possibly be the draw of flat gravel points? Why would bigger gills gather there, vs. let's say....the middle or backend of coves? I've read articles written by FB's where they claim that bluegill spawn 7 months of the year, but I've personally only found eggs and milt in bluegill during the Spring (March-May)

The Lowe 1648MT/Evinrude 35 got $old today. A big ol'tear rolled down my cheek when she left the driveway 😔 She's on her way to lake Barkley & the Cumberland river.

It's actually connected (somehow, by a thread) to the Leadmine CA, tract, so they might be calling it that now......even though they are on opposite sides of the river. It's kind of confusing what they did there, sandwiched between several pieces of private property, and honestly I think the fishing kinda sucks from Leadmine until you get close to Bird. Lots of mudbank and cows in the river along that stretch. I was all excited for them to open up that access, but one scouting trip after they did was all it took. I haven't been compelled to go back. I used to love paddling/fishing my way up from Bird and fishing my way back down. They had a couple of concerts down at Bird where things got kinda "outa-hand"......then suddenly everyone disappeared. 🤷‍♂️

There is a nice ramp at Berry. The Bird Island property has either been sold or seized by the powers that be. Not sure what happened there.

Are you concerned with ads for Lilley's Landing, or managing the ads on the forum? Lilley's Landing (in my opinion) shouldn't be spending a dime on any further advertising. You secured your reputation long ago. Enough people know your place is top notch, and you should have no problem keeping the money rolling in. I know that in my case I CAN'T advertise. Doing so would just mean more calls that I won't have the time or manpower to service. Nobody wants to wait a month or more to have their boat/motor repaired, and being told that it will take that long to get to them just puts folks in a bad mood. Besides, let's not forget that greed is one of the seven deadly's. 😅

And if it's something you really want (or need) to do then maybe try again later. As a physician you CAN'T put someone on a bunch of meds....then tell them not to eat. That's a horrible plan.
