In my dealings around here the DNR have always been on top of things, and do what you'd expect them to do. I wish the DNR would take over 2/3 of the crap that MDC has taken under their wing. Even though the MDC was the one pretending to be all concerned about the destruction of our local creek, it was DNR that actually showed up, stepped in, investigated and rectified the issues. It only took one 5 minute phone call.

It's somewhat of a joint thing, I believe. Mostly it is MDC employees running around, but DNR vehicles and folks from DNR are seen visiting frequently too. The campground and trails seem to be more DNR concerns, but the hatchery, park store, and visitor center seems to be all MDC. It was MDC who contracted with Jim Rogers, with no mention whatsoever of DNR. And I haven't noticed any DNR folk milling around the construction they are doing currently. I have noticed that DNR trucks are strictly utility models with base model wheels, bench seats, ect. ....unlike the MDC vehicles which are all high-end, spare no options.

How many of you in this deal are taking steps to stop this travesty? Are you and your followers doing anything about it? Contact your congress man or woman and get something done? I have no followers. Members of Congress are going to do, or fail to do, whatever they want. So is the oversight committee. And so is MDC. They don't require votes for, or in opposition to, anything. The war on lead has been going on for ages and nobody in Congress gives 2 farts about how important lead is to ME & YOU. And in spite of what they project publicly they don't give 2 farts about the effects of lead in the environment either. If they decide to ban it then they will. No phone calls or letters are going to change their minds. We are forced at gunpoint to pay their salaries regardless. Personally I don't think lead ammo will ever be completely banned. Not until a better alternative is designed anyway. Waterfowlers forced to abandon lead shot don't seem to be overly effected by it. -

I just find it ironic that science shows that we all need to be vaccinated.....so everyone is expected to be following it. And you're a ignorant jackass if you don't. But science shows that lead is bad news.....and everyone is like, WOAH NOW! Rally the troops ! We aren't standing for this BS ! 🙄 -

This is very similar to the Hybrid Striper thing. I enjoy having one on the line as much as anyone.......but I recognize that there are irreversible detriments to having them stocked into waters with native White bass...... therefore I am STRONGLY and OPENLY opposed to it. In THAT case science is failing to indicate the potential problem. Isn't it funny how they cherry pick things? -

I guess it is the assumption that what you say is what you truly think. You rail on ME for disputing what is accepted as scientific facts, all the time. Don't get pissy.......Hell, I never do ! 😁 😘 -

I didn't indicate that I was happy about it. But by your own standards, isn't it the right thing to do? Shouldn't you accept the science? Shouldn't you comply without skepticism? Isn't non-compliance, and rallying against it a slap in the face to all humanity? -

Hey now ! If what these scientists and PROFESSIONALS say, is true, then you should gladly surrender your lead IMMEDIATELY. They are doing this for your own good, and for the good of future generations. Do NOT be a wacko non-conformist, endangering the lives of us all, and the quality of the lives of our loved ones. I beg of you ! It's science, man. Do the right thing buddy. 🙏 🙄 (Am I heavy enough on the sarcasm there? And does it sound familiar?) -
I say it all the time. Back when the park was awesome all they had was a 1/2 ton 2wd pickup, 4-5 employees, and a pair of wheelbarrows. Now they have all this high-tech expensive gear, specialized vehicles, and more hands than a military construction crew.......and they can't accomplish jack squat. Most rediculous thing I've ever seen.

I caught a gull on a Pop-R once. Tried to unhook it as gingerly as possible..... but it was mad, confused, and violently uncooperative. Eventually my patience ran thin and I stomped it into a bloody mess on the deck of my Champion. Definitely not one of my proudest moments, but hey..... you know how it goes. 🙄 In case you're wondering, Yes, gull blood stains boat carpet.

battery reversing polarity
fishinwrench replied to curtisce's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
All I know for sure is that the battery was ok until it was charged at 40amps for an extended period of time. Whatever link in the chain of events that caused the battery to reverse polarity is irrelevant, really. But I'll stand behind the theory that it wouldn't have reversed polarity if the voltage regulator was doing it's job by cutting off the charge current once the battery reached 14.5 volts. -
Did I ever tell you about the time I punted a pelican ? It was like kicking an understuffed feather pillow. Ya know they only have a body cavity the size of a crow. They are all head, wings, and fluff.

battery reversing polarity
fishinwrench replied to curtisce's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I had a boat brought in that had a tach not working and a voltage regulator fried. It was a Merc and the VR got backordered. The guy insisted on doing a dam-to-dam run (Bagnell to Truman and back) that he had planned......So since the motor started and ran, he went ahead. (Against my recommendation!). Halfway back he had to be towed in, and of course he brought it back to the shop. Stator was melted, wiring harness was toasted from motor to console, and the battery was reversed. 4000.00 bill, and I got to say "Told ya so!" 😏 That battery cooked at 40 amps for 12-13 straight hours. 😳 -

Yep, a severely overcharged battery can reverse polarity. As can a dead one that someone just refuses to give up on....and keeps trying to charge it. So can one that's been in a fire.....so I've heard. -

Beavers don't intend to destroy ponds.....they think they are IMPROVING them. Don't be a heartless evil heathen ! 😁 If it weren't for beavers....... (Oh boy, ok I'd better stop right there, before Terrierman wears his fingerprints off on the delete key).

Beavers are so darn cute. How could you?!!! 🤗

Mid-March is a tad early to make solid plans. Could be a foot of snow over an inch of ice, or it could be flooded. Personally I don't start chasing Smallies until late April.....once it's warm enough to wet wade.

I saved you some carrots.

Well then let's see what all you've done with it 🙏 I need some ideas. 😁

Tail is a homemade dragon tail (baby blanket chenille). Body is cactus chenille with "eyelash flash" palmered through it. The Eyelash Flash is a @fshndoug hobby lobby find. 🙂

It has been my experience that Turkeys live on one pair of ridges one year.....and a different pair of ridges the next. I've never seen them frequent the same woodlot two years in a row.

We'll never get the planet warmed up if you don't chip in and help emit some carbon into the atmosphere. C'mon dude, get on board will ya?
