  1. Well good, we need a badass to come get this here Bar out of the neighborhood! Preferably before he starts digging up Sugarbritches hostas.
  2. The only time I argue is when I'm defending myself. If you'd just quit trying to be smarter than me, and accept the fact that you're failing, we'd be good. 😅
  3. Been around since the place opened up, and unlike you I've never changed my handle. So do that math again and get back to me. 😊 Your post count would be higher too if you answered the questions that people asked you. I'm dependable, man. I not only talk....I listen also.
  4. Did you not see THIS part of his post? I've never seen anyone so anxious to argue as ColdWaterFshr. 🙄 Where's the government meddling when it comes to alcohol ? If they truly cared......
  5. Here's how I look at it: Drum have been around every bit as long as superb chef's have been cooking fish, so if they were truly good tablefare I think we would know about it by now. Are they edible? Yes, but so are Asian carp, Grinnell, and Snakeheads. That being said, the commercial fishermen on the Mississippi used to sell them, and Riverside restaurants used to serve them up, meaning that people would order them and pay to eat them, but you don't see them on many menu's anymore. So deduct from that what you will. Personally I'll pass on the filleted Drum platter, I think I'd rather have a cheeseburger, some frog legs, or maybe the turtle soup.
  6. I had a 10 footer that I could throw really well, and I wish I knew what brand it was, or that I had taken better care of it, because I got another one and I can't throw it worth a crap. Saw a guy fling his dentures in the lake once trying to throw a net....That was hilarious! 😅
  7. There have been several times in movies where the date Sept.11 has been mentioned. I think Forrest Gumps mom died on that date, or it was the date on the letter sent to Bubba's momma..... something like that. It was mentioned in Steel Magnolias also, which brought about the Sally Fields conspiracy thing. If Sally Fields had been cast in the Big Lebowski....boy wouldn't that have been something? 😲 My birthday has been mentioned a few times in movies too. How special is that?!?!
  8. So a few tiny little particles of Sevin dust will wipe out a whole colony of bees? After fighting underground hives of yellow jackets and termites I find that hard to believe.
  9. I can't for the life of me understand people that will sit around a campfire, stand over a barrel of burning trash with a poker stick, burn leaves and tend to a controlled burn or brush fire on their property for hours, stand in a kitchen full of smoke after someone over toasted a pizza, ect but then somebody 20' away from them lights a cigarette and immediately they go into respiratory distress. I don't care what you say, that is mental illness. It's all in your head because the "tobacco is evil" thing has effectively programmed your brain. I'm certainly not saying it's good for you, and I'm not saying it's harmless. But for crying out loud be reasonable about it ! I smoke in our kitchen, and my wife bitches about it all the time....but then she'll sit cross-legged over a open bottle of acetone for 30 minutes, and stand in the bathroom in a dense cloud of hairspray fallout.....and that doesn't bother her one bit. GTFOH!
  10. So you don't think there's any merit to the theory that we need to be exposed to germs in order to keep our immune systems tuned up? It may just be the ignorant hillbilly in me.... but that just makes sense. A certain number of tick/mosquito/chigger bites just seems to keep a fella balanced. The feeling of being so vulnerable to everything around me would make me uneasy as hell. I'd almost rather live a shorter life if I had to go around fretting about that all the time.
  11. What makes the MO so creepy is that it is so muddy. Zero visibility. So when something goes under it is just GONE. And so many opposing currents, both vertical and horizontal. The Osage has those vertical/horizontal currents also at times, but it's clearer and doesn't seem near as scary to me.
  12. Dam tailraces are where most guys around here go to load up on them. Usually only takes 3-4 throws. If you know of a spring inflow you can get them there also, especially big ones if that's what you want.... but the water is often clear and they can be spooky, so it takes more throws to fill a bucket.
  13. I reel with the same hand whether bait casting, spinning, or fly. Right hand reels. With baitcasters I cast right handed and switch, but pitch/flip with the left hand so the reel can be engaged as soon as the bait hits the water. I never understood how/why anybody else does it differently, but most guys I know do.
  14. Or it finally becomes 90° in the shade and the thing is miserable to have on. 😅 There are farmers tans Bikini tans. And now, Covid tans. 😅
  15. My dad was an Air Force MP and my older brother a Marine. When I graduated HS I had alot of pressure to join the military but I wasn't in agreement with what the government and the military was doing at the time. We had to register with selective service so there was a chance that I wouldn't have an option, but as long as I did my decision was... Hell No! The guys that did enlist, when they came back, they HATED IT, had nothing good to say about the experience. But of course now they thump their chests, tell amazing stories, and demand extra respect for being "veterans". Sadly to say nearly everyone that I personally know that did a stint in the military is an alcoholic, drug abuser, sick and broke down mentally, or has their life ruined in one fashion or another. Being a veteran is the only thing they have to be "proud" of. It's just not cool. 😕
  16. I missed where he claimed USMC veteran status. Just saw where he said he got a GED and did some engineering with the Marines as an equipment operator. I was an equipment operator at Fort Sill, OK. Never went through basic training though. Installed underground cable to the base and have PTSD from all the GD Scorpions and giant spiders we unearthed. It's ok though, nobody has to salute me. 😎 Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to dig a trench in DRY SAND? The guys training there at the time sure looked alot cleaner and less sunburnt than we did. I never rode with the Hells Angels either, but I did party at Sonny Barker's place when they returned from the Alaskan pipeline gig. That's "Barker" not Barger.... bit of a difference there, but still. 😅
  17. I did too, for way too many years. I just wish I could take the time I spent concentrating on the things that don't matter, and have that time applied to other things like the angle the line lays on the water when it's drifting, and managing slack.
  18. Who's faking? And what are they faking about? 🤔 So who is your favorite guy on here then? Why ya gotta piss in my face without pissing in everyone else's who isn't your #1 💔😢 😅 I'll say one thing, and I'll mean it... Oneshot converses on here regularly, takes more than his share of ribbing, and causes zero BS on here (unlike a bunch of the rest of us). If something were to happen to him a big ol' tear is gonna roll off this boys face. I don't care whether he served in the USMC or not, he has shown more respectable qualities than many of us on here. So this.... can go roll some more silverware in the mess hall. "Just another faker", as if you've had to put SO MANY OTHERS in their lowly place. 🙄 Yuck!
  19. My wife watches the monitor like a hawk when they are scanning. If it ran at 58.97 she'd make a scene. "Woah, slow down there, Felicia....that didn't scan right!" 🙄
  20. He's twice the man of a number of Marines that I know. So there! Killed more, Slept less, and had more pu$$y. 😊👍
  21. That whistle pig ain't gonna taste good at all, without a lot of salt & pepper.
  22. Saw a giant sycamore up near Portland floating high, get spun around, sucked under, and it never popped back up. I was ready to call it a day after seeing that.
  23. Don't be shooting towards the goddam propane tank, ya cross-eyed peckerwood ! 😂
  24. There are 2 little springs just above it, still on my property, that trickle water constantly. The dam is about 300 yards from where the little ditch enters the lake in the back of Navajo beach cove. The boys with the county road district haven't mentioned any issues except for the need to install a guard rail, and they offered to take care of that. So who knows. I'm not going to worry about any of that until it starts actually backing up water. If DNR starts throwing a fit and trying to make my life difficult I'll have @shrapnel come out and blow it up. It's a useless piece of property anyway, too steep and rocky to do anything else with it.
  25. Yeah it isn't my first choice either, but I need alot of fill....and that plus the road base underneath it's available for free. The first portion is old concrete seawall, boulders, and road base from when they built Coconut's (about 40 loads of it). I figured it would go further than it did, but I have quite a ways to go yet. I'll snap some pics the next time I have to mow down there. Below the dam is where I park boats that don't get picked up and paid for in a timely manner. 😊
