It's a double edged sword really. I know that if we had a few decent accesses on the lower Ni that the fishing wouldn't be near as good as it is. But it's such a huge PIA to get there and fish it now that it really doesn't matter to me.

Our couch is a POS anyway. I want a sectional with reclining ends, but have you priced those ? Good grief, I could buy another boat or truck for that ! Wait, what were we talking about here? Oh yeah, "breeding spotted bass for the sake of selling them as food".... Yeah I don't think it'll fly, but it wouldn't surprise me if they get funded to try it. And let's be real here...THAT is the only true goal.

That's what begins to happen when you have an over populated piece of land with too much money in circulation.

Way better than the Spoonbill breeding operation. The only thing left is a 600lb. entertainment center that I refuse to ever move again. It's going to be set on fire right here in the driveway in a couple days if Sugar britches can't Facebook it away before it gets rained on.

The dude that flicked him needs a toe stompin'. I wanted to see just how much hummingbird that mantis could consume. Probably just eat his eyeballs and brains out, ya think?

Did you bring enough for EVERYBODY ? Bring that cooler a little closer, this is gonna take a while. 😉

Oh man, you have stepped in it now ! 😉 How have we benefitted from the spawning of Paddlefish? That operation costs taxpayers Millions annually ("I read that somewhere") and what do we get out of it? Spoonbill snaggers bring nothing to the table in comparison to what is spent to provide them with the opportunity. After the short season the banks are littered with dead sub-legal fish that have had their sides ripped open, and you can't do anything with the eggs or you'll go to prison. Ecologically they do nothing to control plankton and the shad population. The whole idea and operation borders on insanity. Let's just piss away millions of taxpayers hard earned dollars for the hell of it while we ignore important things, like honestly protecting more valuable native species. Although I love to catch Hybrid Stripers, the breeding and stocking of them is no more beneficial than the spoonbill stupidity, and may actually be detrimental to the ecosystem as they try, and often succeed in breeding with the native White Bass and screwing up the native gene pool.....so there's even more money wasted there. And a creation of a potential problem that can never be reversed. You can't compare any of that rediculousness to the Trout program because trout anglers are way more numerous and each one of them bring more than their fair share to the table economically. The trout program is a smart one. The others are nothing more than ignorant BS created by a bunch of douchebags looking for projects to secure the future of their phoney baloney jobs. Now whatcha got? 😎

Holy balls! Onery bastage!

It always looks deserted. Sketchy bunch there. Somebody needs to put a boot in MDC's rear end and get us a road to the river at Berry Bluff. There's no reason to not have a good access there, and originally that was the plan.

You must have missed the thread where I proved beyond a shadow of doubt that roadkill gopher was head and shoulders above carp as table fare. I'd gobble up some Kentucky Fried Fish as long as it wasn't full of maggots. Aren't Cranes/Herons supposed to be the source of those grubs? What does Crane taste like ? Let's eat all of them first and get rid of the grubs, then eat the Spotted bass.

Oh great! Another dipshit fisheries wizard with another bone headed idea. 😀

Answer my tarpon and grizzly bear question, then I'll answer your trout question. -
Bass fishing at Warsaw
fishinwrench replied to Justin92297's topic in Truman Tailwater/Upper Osage River
It fishes like a shallow lake, or a flooded river. The backwater areas are where you wanna spend your time looking for Largemouth. If you have rocks, docks, and shad in the same area then there should be bass there. Don't burn up much time around soft silty bottom spots unless there is plenty of wood cover. Good luck! -

No, Sport. It's because if I want to chase Muskie then I want to chase REAL ONES in their REAL habitat. Heaven forbid any place in the country be special in regards to its native fish species! Ya wanna go tarpon fishing in my goldfish pond? I'm sure it can be arranged if you'll vote YES for the funding. Want me to bait a grizzly bear for you too? No biology degree needed, just a bit of cash from the taxpayers. -
A few smallmouth flies
fishinwrench replied to Flysmallie's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
Dead drifting a white Sneaky Pete accounted for over a dozen 10-13 inch smallies today for me and my kid. Two 15 inchers ate this thing here which is a new pattern I just started playing with I'm really impressed with it. If you want a slow sexy streamer that sub-walks reliably.....this is it. Here's the SBS but I used silicone instead of the stuff he uses on the head. That might make a difference. After seeing the way it worked today I am sticking with the clear silicone. The Game Changer got alot of bites today but zero hookups. That fly just ain't gonna catch'em unless they are big enough to get the whole thing in their mouth. Everything was eating that sexy tail, none ate the head. -
A few smallmouth flies
fishinwrench replied to Flysmallie's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
As long as you stick with marabou and bucktail they are only heavy to pick up initially. After the first back cast they will lose most of the water and shoot forward just fine. Lots of rabbit fur is a killer because that soaked piece of hide holds its water no matter what. Adjust your casting stroke to more of a continuous oval movement instead of a standard stroke, to eliminate that snap back, and as long as your rod has the balls you can cast just about anything. I think dense heavy water soaked flys are easier to cast than big fluffy wind resistant stuff. -
Dang ! The trips I've had up North have always been good. It always blows my mind that those people up there don't give two hoots about their Smallies.

If I'm gonna chase Muskie then I wanna chase them where they are at their best, not somewhere they are barely surviving and a few dipshit biologists decided to throw them in there anyway. That's just me though. 😁 -
There ya go !

(Update w/pics) Topwaters for Stream Smallmouth
fishinwrench replied to TroutRinger's topic in Smallmouth Talk
It has been my experience that topwater baits, regardless of which kind, aren't very effective in areas of moderate to heavy current. Smallies just don't seem to wanna break the surface when the surface is already broken. -

How can something so onery and mean be as delicate as tissue paper? If only the Crappie knew what pussies they were. -
The best thing to do if you're in a toon and encounter a giant wake is KILL THE ENGINE and just let her bob. Trying to power through big wakes will rip it to pieces.

NO! I want possession of my yard back a.s.a.p. You should see the caliber of circus staff we've had around here. Reminds me of the corn dog line at the State Fair.
