  1. Very nice! This lake is fishing large this year. I'm lovin' it. Can't wait to see what the Fall bite is like.
  2. Exactly. Wakes crashing into each other from all angles creates a giant washing machine effect. Driving through it is one thing.... Fishing in it is a whole 'nother thing. Used to be you could duck inside a cove and escape it, but now it's so rough on the main channel that everybody has to do their tubing and skiing in the coves, so they aren't much better. Fishermen just keep allowing themselves to be pushed further and further up the creeks, or into tiny coves too small to do anything else in. The guides from the mid-lake area claim to be booked solid, and it makes me wonder....Where the hell are y'all taking these people to fish ? LOL
  3. The slick water areas midway between the riffles should hold suckers but not many trout. I like hearing that the trout population in the river is good. That's surprising after that last VERY WARM high water event. Good deal !
  4. The boy swings a good trapgun too.
  5. Absolutely! The only reason I didn't declare War Eagles junk was because I had about 20 of them and was forced to keep throwing them. And we were catching fish like crazy on a blade bite. The average guy that buys your baits is gonna form judgements, and if he breaks one on the first day you'll never sell him another one. Durability doesn't always parallel fish catch-ability. This isn't the first time that the best bait in my arsenal is the one that's about to fall apart. Good lesson there. I remember fighting fish rather gingerly because the lips on Poe's 400's were notorious for breaking. Throw anything else though and you may never get the bites.
  6. I'd sure like to try them.....bit dammit I'm Spinnerbait poor right now. ? Still no more broken hooks on War Eagles. I think I freaked out for nothing, but I sure could have used that 4lber I lost cuz I was well on my way to a 20#+ limit. ?
  7. Whatever the cheap whites ones are, they are junk. They coil up and get stiff in cool weather....and get sticky/gummy in warm weather. The best "cheap" line I have ever used is Cortland 333. I still use it on my 9wt. Bass rod because I punish it pretty hard and it doesn't hurt my feelings to drag it over logs, rocks, ect. Or to step on it. It gets the job done just fine in all kinds of weather, and it only costs about 30 bucks.
  8. That's how it all happened. City folk came here and liked it, so when they came back they brought the city with them. Now they've lost sight of what it was they liked so much about this place to begin with. Woulda been easier to just build a lake in their city.
  9. I'm not convinced that a Spinnerbait being "built tough" is a good thing all the time. We've tried several "tanks" and they don't seem to get as many bites here recently. No bait lasts forever, you just gotta know when to retire it and get a fresh one.
  10. What blows my mind is that so many people seem to have so much free time these days. Does nobody have to work anymore? You have all these people that are obviously millionaires, yet they never have to work. Retired at 35 ! I guess I'm jealous.
  11. I check into another site/forum occupied by the yacht/powerboat crowd and even THEY complain about the rough water conditions and overcrowding. The folks inside coves are complaining because people in oversized boats are going in circles pulling tubes and tearing up their docks. The WP has started pulling over big boats and asking them not to "plow" any more than necessary. People riding in 26-30' boats get knocked out of their seats and injured every day. Finally it has gotten bad enough that EVERYONE realizes that it is rediculis, so maybe in another 5-10 years something will be done to settle the seas a bit. Tri-toon sales were up several years ago, but even they can't handle the "normal" everyday water here now.
  12. If it has started to break down you will get a white dust on your fingers and hands when you are spooling it. The shelf life of flourocarbon is alot longer than regular mono.
  13. The thing is, it would take all day to determine which one is the best one for that day, and by then..... it's another day !
  14. That would be great ! The Osage arm at about the 38-45mm. The Niangua arm between MM 32-36. The Glaize at the 22-25MM. The Gravois at MM 8-10. And one within 5 miles of the dam.
  15. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to determine which WTD bait is "the right one". Pick the one that you like the looks of the most and use it exclusively unless you get sick of looking at it. I went through a 2-3 year phase of trying almost every brand/type on the market, but ended up right back to the Heddon's where I started. Wasted time and wasted money.
  16. Tons of these motors out there, and parts are becoming NLA at a rapid rate. This one has a broken clamp mount and no title, so it is being parted out. Power head, ignition system, lower unit, tiller handle assembly and cowlings are all good. It does run. If you want a piece of it.....or all of it, shoot me a PM for price.
  17. Absolutely! Don't be picky though. MGD or Natty Lite ?
  18. Lunch happens around 12:30, and dinner about 7:30pm. (yes I know.....Nobody else eats that late) Pumpkin pie can happen anytime. They put that stuff in cans where it's alot easier to deal with, for like .40 cents. If my "garden" produces a pumpkin we can either make a jack-o-lantern or explode it with a slug gun. Sounds way more fun than harvesting that slime for a pie.
  19. Are y'all really this hard up for food ? Stop this nonsense and just drop by around lunch or dinner time. I'll gladly feed you something 100% safe.
  20. Well, if I was restricted to walk-in access on NFOW there's no better place to be IMO than Jack's riffle.
  21. It doesn't matter if no laws are broken, it's 2016 for Christ sake, and I am OFFENDED. That's way worse than a broken law.
  22. Yep that's the stuff that I use. The heavier diameters (15-20#) have their issues but it's supple enough, has exceptional abrasion resistance and knot strength. I still have to cut it back and/or change it out about as often as I did Trilene XT when it was my line of choice because after it has been stretched hard a few times the lamination separates and it curls up like an old phone cord. That's good though as it lets me know right away that the section of line needs attention.
  23. Shangri-la Resort. I think it's 5 bucks. Nice ramp but the parking space is limited.
  24. Dehydration and Peyote don't mix well. Drink some water with that stuff !
