  1. More options for hydro-dynamic hull designs and interior layout, less kiting in a breeze, quieter while fishing (no hull slap), more stable overall (because of its weight), you don't have to have high deep V style gunnels in rough water, no welds to break or rivets to leak, and they are prettier. Aluminum rigs are better in the ultra-shallows, easier to tow, require less horsepower on the back and less powerful trolling motors on the front.
  2. I know a way you can find out Grab your poles and get up here. I couldn't pull it off yesterday though, failed miserably.
  3. I drive past enough restaurants to know that their busiest time is NOT 5-6:00 it's more like 7:30-8:30. Dinner at 8:00 suits me best but it looks like a compromise is gonna have to be made, so I'll say 7:30, she'll say "NO 6:30!" THEN hopefully we will settle at 7:00.
  4. Tell me about it ! Funny that for 6 years there wasn't a problem, everything was just great. Then there was a wedding.....And now I need to be normal. You young single guys, pay attention.
  5. Yes! Another weirdo. Thank you. Ness, you've never seen Stepford wives?
  6. I love the late night time, I actually do most of my engine and gearcase rebuilds late at night. No phones ringing, no boats pulling in the driveway, no fishing buddies stopping by, ect. It's the best time for me to concentrate on drawn-out tedious projects. So when you see me posting at 3am I am usually winding down (coming off the caffiene) for a bit after a engine rebuild session.
  7. Advise taken, but I'm with BH, June was definitely a stepford wife.
  8. Looks like I'm gonna lose this one. Seriously? So "normal people" get done working, rush home and immediately set down to eat? Often I dont stop for lunch until 1:00 or after. I usually get done working between 5-6:00, take a shower, go fishing/bike riding/or do something equally as enjoyable for awhile, and then eat when I get home. Seems reasonable to ME but I guess life as I know it is about to change, because according to my lovely bride I need to be more "normal". I think she just wants me to eat dinner sooner so I'll get lazy and not wanna go play every evening. 8:30 suited me best.
  9. My lady and I are bickering about what time "normal people" eat dinner. Since I'm sure most of you are more "normal" than I am please let me know what time you eat. Thanks I'll report back as to whether or not I win this fight.
  10. Nothing blown out the side of the housing and/or no extensive skeg or cav plate damage? If not I'd open it up and inspect the actual damage. Buying a reman lower unit just means you're buying a repaired gearcase that likely suffered the same (or worse) damage as yours did ...for twice the price. Sometimes you have a choice, other times not. Only way to tell is to inspect it and see.
  11. As if THAT is the deal breaker. LOL Those are just folks that don't know what else to ask. Even if you spouted off a number they wouldn't believe you. Just tell them that you're not sure and offer to take them on a test run if they are truly interested.
  12. How bad is the damage? May be faster and less expensive to repair yours. A reman unit will possibly be a less reliable and more expensive choice. Gimme a call if you'd like. 573-569-5406
  13. It would have to be a 2007 if it's a 60. Not sure about the data recovery but I kinda doubt it. Are you buying or selling?
  14. Had to think about it awhile, but I guess my least favorite fishing area that I still consider fishing occasionally is Bennett Spring. I used to love it but they ruined it for me with all their upgrades.
  15. If that's the worst she can look after a 4 day float trip then I'd hit it.
  16. Nice fish guys! Almost everyone I've talked to, fishermen and party boaters alike, has mentioned how much they enjoyed the (NWW) No Wake Weekend and has said they wished it would happen more often. Just for the record, anyone harassed for not idling would just have to apologize and mention that they don't listen to the radio, watch TV, or read newspapers. Thankfully we aren't required by law to do either of those things.
  17. She's falling out fast now, and it sure was pleasant out there today. Kinda reminded me of the old days on LO when it wasn't so crowded. My partner and I expected some fish to be up in the bushes but due to the falling water they were holding 3-4' along the original shoreline. Just going down the bank throwing a square bill caught a good number of short fish. Buzzbaits and worms/jigs produced the better bites.
  18. What size is the motor? Not all 2008 models retain that info. As to the fee... You don't just plug in, get the hours, and be done. You boot it up and make a print out of all stored info. You get charged at least 0.8hr. or it isn't worth their time to do it.
  19. It doesn't apply to ANY boats. I'm not too sure that "No-Wake" is a law. I've seen guys get yelled at, and even pulled over, lectured, and "inspected" because of No-Wake violations but I am not aware of anyone ever getting fined or punished in any real way because of blowing through a No Wake zone. Does anyone here know of anyone FOR SURE that has been summoned specifically for ignoring a NW area? Babler? What's the scoop?.....or would you rather not say. (Understood if so).
  20. Just crossed 3 bridges and I can assure you that nobody is giving two hoots about the No-Wake request.
  21. The "order" is nothing more than a request. It can't be enforced....but they hope most don't realize that. Lame attempt at media based control. It's not working.
  22. I've pretty much had a belly full of these dock owners whining. I'm sure they are worried about wakes causing them an inconvenience, but they need to get over it! You put a dock on a lake and pay insurance on it....then throw a fit when Ameren, the state, and everyone else doesn't wanna bend over backwards to make sure you don't have to do repairs after an extreme weather event? Gimme a break. That's just part of owning lakefront property. Too bad/so sad. Either suck it up or sell it and move to higher ground. Dock repair businesses have to eat too! I had lakefront property once, and I couldn't afford to keep it and my dock maintained so I sold it and moved to second tier. I still enjoy the lake just as much, if not more, now.
  23. I wouldn't recommend any swimming unless you are far FAR away from any docks.
  24. The powers that be have mentioned "closing the lake to recreational boating" but I am not gonna miss out on this golden fishing opportunity. I'll give my bride some bail money or whatever, but I WILL be fishing the bushes....come hell or high water. If the wake from a WP Donzi won't hurt anything then neither will the wake from my 18' bass boat.
  25. I think it's kinda funny that all the folks with big wave-maker boats are all concerned about wakes all of a sudden. Almost makes me wish I had one for a day.
