  1. They used to stock down to Prosperine accesss but then they pulled back to what used to be Maggards (right above Ho-Humm). I'd be surprised if they release any at all anywhere below Barclay nowadays.
  2. LMAO I've met those guys !
  3. Excellent plan! And if in a few years you realize that all you ever think about/care about is big-headed green fish.....Every magazine, catalog and DVD in your house has a fish on the cover, and you can't keep a girlfriend for more than 4 months, then I'd say you're headed in the direction you are inquiring about whether you want to or not.
  4. Is the sign effective? Sounds like a source of extra firewood to me. I recently learned that a good portion of posted creek/river property around here was never bought in the first place. It was taken by adverse possession, and the person claiming ownership probably isn't even holding a legal deed or paying taxes on all of what he/she has fenced in. I found that really interesting, and it wouldn't surprise me that the same situation isn't the norm on ALOT of "private" riverfront land. Those folks guard that free land diligently to ensure it isn't taken from them the same way that THEY snatched it.
  5. So actual evidence of a failed spawn this year for many of the whites? What would you attribute that to, and is that fairly normal ? A hot post spawn bite on whites is unheard of on my pond but I'm gonna attempt to locate a similar bite going on up here since we had a less than spectacular spawn run ourselves. Males were thick, but females were more scarce than I can ever remember. I think I'm the only one in these parts that frets over the whites. Everyone else treats them like mushrooms and blackberry's.
  6. What about "Orange or brown" water? Red= + / Black= - from the batt to the TM, if it still runs backurds then it's wired wrong somewhere in the foot control or head. But a squeeking, rattling, clunking TM is totally unacceptable. Fix or replace that POS mount before your next trip out.
  7. Don't loose THAT shirt! Sweet pics RM, Looks like you're having fun.
  8. If you're playing with frog baits you HAVE TO try the Stanley Bull Ribbit on the "double take" hook. That thing is outrageous. And if they miss it just stop and let it slow-fall about 10", they'll almost always get it on the second try. I love that bait!
  9. Looking forward to the book, Al, and I'm glad you said "small segment" cuz paddling instruction is not something I think you can teach in text, illustrations, or even in video format. It has to be FELT to be understood, so IMO it's not worth wasting paper and ink on unless your motive is for folks to one day FEEL IT and think to themselves ....."ahhh, THAT'S what he was talking about!"
  10. Probably about #18-19 down on the list of problematic poop contributors I'd guess. Convenient scapegoats near waterways though for sure.
  11. That's good that it doesn't seem to be getting worse. Maybe the Musky are giving them anxiety attacks A carp kill would be a trip. Those buggers are practically immune to everything.
  12. Wouldn't you expect a paid biologist, assigned to that region, to be the first one aware of a mysterious number of dead fish? I just kinda think his response to your call shoulda been more like..."yeah I know, I'm looking into it and should have some answers by the end of the day". Not that he'd be able to do anything to stop it, at least there would be a cool new word used to describe it. So does anyone know the cool word assigned to the white bass decimation a couple years ago?
  13. Well.... guess that answered that. And none of those "brilliant passengers" realized he was wasted. Major Bummer.
  14. Nice ! Congrats on the new wagon, and I'm glad ya got the Honda straightened out.
  15. The local talk radio this morning is making a big deal about some "official decision" being made today regarding allowing gay people in the boy scouts. The question I have is..... who decides who is "gay" ? "Are you gay? " Um, No. "Ok, you're cleared". Or how does that work? LOL
  16. Been around lakes and rivers all my life, this is the first I've ever heard about a "fish die-off" during/or after a spawn. And the way it reads your biologist guy acts like it is just a common thing. Pardon me! Good luck with your lake.
  17. The biologist "believes" that? Why, cuz it sounds possible, or is there some honest science behind that theory? Does that guy know what happened to the whites too?
  18. I'm guessing that it was more than 300.00 ?
  19. I always thought cotton seed cake was for Buffalo and carp.
  20. "If everyone lived off the land" there'd be alot fewer of "us".. Like only as many as "the land" could sustain.....which would likely solve every problem that has ever been discussed here, and elsewhere.
  21. Goldfish! Albino's if you can get'em.
  22. Pomme lost its White bass not too long ago.....no explanation. Now it's loosing crappie? During the stressful period of a hot Summer or hard Winter you could somewhat discount it. But not during the ideal water temp periods of late Spring. And lakewide all at once? I'd say that's reason for some immediate concern. No?
  23. All this scrambling of details among news reports seems to have gotten more common since 9-11. I don't recall so much error in "official reporting" prior to that event. And now, today, we are pretty much conditioned to EXPECT it and accept it. Not cool! So now when something inconvenient slips out.....Well....that was just an error in the reporting. Oh....Ok....WHEW! WTFever.
  24. Bettet take pics of them next to a ruler just in case one of them is THE BOMB and you end up loosing it.
