thanks for posting this LRF. I enjoy the old shows. Lynn Dollar has a bunch of the old Bassmasters and FLWs on You Tube. I wish the old Virgil Ward shows were available on You Tube.
but they need more funding to study it further. When I was growing up, Dad had a pond about 1 acre in size. There were several bass that I caught each year that had identifying marks so you could tell them apart. That pond sure didn't have 35% annual die offs.
if you really want to know, google Section 404 and Section 401 permits. EPA regulations, which the Corps is involved with. The permits have to do with discharge into public waterways and and placing material into wetlands, blah, blah, blah.
not too awfully bad in Arcadia Valley. Bad enough. About 4 inches. Roads are apparently a mess based on fakebook chatter. Cleared off a space for little dog to pee, and opened up the bird feeders. 33 degrees at 9 a.m. I think we should survive, but we did call off golf for the weekend.
a couple of weeks ago a discussion was going on about putting skirts on Midge-O-Orenos and such. Came across the bottom lure in this photo in one of my inherited tackle boxes, tried to find that thread with no luck so started a new thread. Dad and Pa both lived in Flat River, so I am sure one them used this lure on the Big River somewhere along the line. Anyone (Al?) have any idea what it is? The little spinner on the back is sort of intriguing, and the shredded ribbon was obviously added as an enticer.
neat stories Bill. My partner and I won a little Grumman aluminum bass boat at Stockton in the 93 AmBASSador fish off. Jo Ann and Catfish were the supporting dealer and they treated us like we were Roland Martin and Bill Dance. Being on the other side of the state, it would have been too much hassle to buy through them, but recommended them whenever possible. They also helped support MWBT through the years. Good people.
let's say a generation for a bass is 10 years. What will happen to the bass population in 5 or 10 generations of mixed breeding? Will every bass be a hybridized specie?
thanks Bo for the detailed explanation! It makes it a lot easier to visualize your techniques. There is more detailed information in your answers than in 99% of any fishing article I have ever read.
Bo - what size line do you use to help feel the lure in 60 feet of water? I assume you make about a 100 foot cast, peel off line to get it to the bottom? 160 feet of line out to begin with. 50+ yards of line. And when you get snagged, do you get directly over the bait to retrieve it? Just trying to visualize fishing that deep and maintaining contact and feel.
Not only is Toledo Bend big, 180,000 acres, it has massive shallow areas(called flats) that are shallower than 20 feet which makes for a tremendous amount of habitat for largemouth.
