Bass Pro to carry LEWS reels and drop Daiwa????
Alex Heitman replied to abkeenan's topic in Table Rock Lake
Speaking of pro qualifier I bought a pro qualifier rod several years ago before they stopped making them and it is my favorite rod. I use it for jerkbaits and 10 ft diving cranks. The black carbonlite rods were great too. I have several of them. I have no idea why they changed the composition of them and made them white. The new ones suck. -
Bass Pro to carry LEWS reels and drop Daiwa????
Alex Heitman replied to abkeenan's topic in Table Rock Lake
Old Plug I am sorry but Lews blows the old abu's out of the water. I grew up throwing the older abu's and they were good but with all of the newer reels cast way farther and are way smoother than them. Not saying they aren't a good reel but Lews in particular is outstanding for the price and quality you get. -
Big big big fish! My favorite wart I told you. Get the net! By yourself.....fish breaks line when you try and lip him.....I told you he was a record dad and that wart cost $500 thanks while you are on the couch and its 37 and raining. -OAF member

Nice one that's a biggun. This is one I got a pic of and weighed 4lbs and 10 oz. I caught one in a tourney that I weighed and it was 5 lbs and 2 oz. I caught it with 5 mins to go before weigh in and it placed me in the money. Smallmouth are my favorite to catch! Awesome catch buck

I had a good trip as well this weekend. Thanks for the report. I threw a wart on Saturday and caught some nice fish but you had to cover a lot of water and I mean a lot. I had one I would say close to 8lbs and break my off on the boat on a wart when I was trying to lip him. Did not ha e the net out and I did not retie for quite some time so it was my fault. Man he fought and was a huge rush and let down at the same time. Lost my all time favorite wart that was a fish catcher. After that I decided to go deep because I knew they were biting out there but just wanted to get them shallow. I know there is a shallow bite somewhere but I have no idea why there isn't a bunch of fish up shallow right now. I also went into big creeks and caught them in deep of water as 70 in about 30-40 feet and also caught some on the bottom or close in about 35ft. Caught a lot of nice K's and SM and a few LM on spoon. Threw the A-rig quite a bit and caught some nice ones but not a lot. They should be all over that as well and they probably are somewhere but I didn't find them. I think at any time the shallow bite should develop as well as the arig but I could be wrong. This weather might throw them a curveball. I really think the water needs to get a little colder. It was 56-58 degrees. Fished deep again Sunday and caught them as well. It seemed they did not like when you got over them and had to cast to them. They were really finicky but once you got them to bite you could get them going. Can't wait to get back down next week.

Yeah the water is still 58-59. I fished Thursday Friday Saturday and yesterday was the best day. Lots of action and some nice ones on top water. Caught a 5lb LM and a 4 lb SM yesterday on wiggle wart. Today was tough and for some reason Thursday was also tough. It was plan nasty out yesterday and today. I stayed warm with lots of layers on.

Getting Close to Hair Jig Time........
Alex Heitman replied to Mitch f's topic in General Angling Discussion
If any of you watched the BFL All American on NBC sports yesterday it was awesome. A local named Jeremy Lawyer the SW MO area did really well and about won it with a 2nd place finish. I've fished some of the BFL's and talked to him. He is a great fisherman and an even better guy. He was throwing a big hair jig with a swimbait trailer on Kentucky Lake. He would throw it out let it sink down a ways and then crank super fast 3-4 times and stop. It was a really neat presentation to watch and gave me some knowledge. Here is the link if you guys want to watch. http://youtu.be/aoVEOVa_ZnY -
Current River January 2015 Fly Fishing with Alex Turley and Matt Green
Alex Heitman commented on Phil Lilley's video in Video Feed
Awesome video. Only the experts catch fish on flies down there. Gotta use something else for those big ol Browns down there that pulls them out of hiding. Bigger lures will get their attention. Great video guys -
It was on the current river about 5 miles below montauk.

I was fishing down below baptist camp right at daylight this past summer and I heard some noise in the woods that was strange. A few minutes later I heard the screeching sound of the mountain lion. This went on a couple of times but I never seen the cat. I was very scared after that and was watching my back the entire time. It was a very scary walk back to the truck through the paths after that. Even though I never seen the cat I was positive it was what I heard. There is so much wilderness down there for them to hide that I do believe they are there.

M&M that's exactly what I did when wrench stated they were they haha! I was also at Red Lobster eating. I would have stayed and chatted more but uncoils tell my date was not liking it haha

I have only learned how to fish a lipless crankbait in really shallow water with the burn and banging technique. Still then I think I catch more on a square bill or TW. I wish we had grass around here so I could do the ripping method of the lipless crankbait.

I think I've figured something out about the LM in the dam area the last few times I have been down. I've caught mostly all LM with some SM mixed in. Next time I am down we will see if this hold true but I am excited and still think there are many to be caught with the right techniques. By the way good job Bo and thanks for the report.

The Quest for Winter Gloves
Alex Heitman replied to JestersHK's topic in Equipment - Rods/Reels/Line/and all the other toys
I have found out its best to just wear cheap cotton gloves and just cut the tips off the thumb and first two fingers. Just try not to get your hands and gloves wet. Another thing you can do is wear the thick latex cleaning gloves underneath to keep them waterproof. All of the fishing waterproof gloves I have had are too stiff and make you lose the sensitivity you need while fishing. -
I have a secret hatchery pond where I raise and net the bigguns which go directly in the live well for picture purposes. They are trained to stay away from forum member angling tactics and and released in table rock to train the other bass like ninjas to stay away from your lures and only bite mine. This makes up for my lack of angling skill and gives me an advantage over everyone else haha

Haha that's funny Champ. I've been blessed to catch some nice fish this year and be in the right area at the right time. I never luck out as much on tournament day so so you guys have nothing to worry about.

Matheny did a horrible job this series. Holiday should have been on the bench. Also I don't know if we practice all the time swing at dirt balls or what but we chased so many pitches. Our pitching was supposed to be our strong point and it let us down. Also why did he continue to take grichuk out??? He is a power hitter. It just boggles my mind what happened this series and is definitely hard to stomach.

We got down this afternoon and caught some fish before the cardinals game started. Mostly top water. Caught this one and it weighed 6.34. Absolutely crushed the top water. Have to love this lake.

I'm not saying they didn't throw and catch some of their fish on different lures but if you look at the photos on bassmaster.com, almost all of Watsons and Clunn's fish were shown being caught on the plopper.

Watson was throwing a whopper popper it looks like.

Where is Brad Smith or Chase Daniel when you need them??

just wondering if anybody has tried wading down by the darn lately and how much water they are generating. I was thinking about heading down and trying it out but do not want to if they are generating to much water to wade fish.
