  1. Whoa, great looking fish, both. Have had instances where friend in the boat hooked up to a freight train up the white. First thought was striper but a flathead like that may have been the culprit.
  2. Well that just brings a smile to my face. I'm sure you enjoyed that as much or more than any other recent outing.
  3. Wonder which part of the lake this was?
  4. You know someone should make one like that (and maybe it's already out there). I'd be interested in that bait. Zoom did something similar with their finesse worm and made the "Mag" finesse worm, not longer but bigger in diameter. Also anyone tried the "Z-3" worms from Zoom? http://zoombait.com/2015/06/zoom-launches-its-first-hand-poured-worm/
  5. yes, i never push hook through middle of bait but skin hook through side like a splinter barely under your skin. Yes it twists but if 100% hookups I don't care. If it twists one way switch hook to other side to un twist. Dr or centip
  6. hmmmm Al...thought light years was a distance measurement?
  7. So how is this situation different from southern lakes that have much more vegetation and, at times of the year, would have much more organic matter decaying, thus reduced oxygen levels at even higher water temperatures? Or is it that most plant decay in the south takes place later in the year (late fall) when water temps are cooler?
  8. What is a face book?
  9. Now that's funny!
  10. That's one good looking, healthy spot. Were most fat & happy like that?
  11. Interested in which sections of the lake have more visible dead fish vs. which appear to not be affected much? (Any isolated areas, upper rivers, mid-lake, dam area, close proximity to residential areas?) Also, evidence that bluegill, goggle-eye, carp, threadfin, paddlefish, gar or catfish are also part of fish kill? Been hoping that some of the more moderate temperatures will be helpful.
  12. Good ones.
  13. Thank, Phil. Needed that.
  14. Wow, my "Member's Total Reputation" is so weak at +24. Guess I need to start kissing up more to you folks, giving out secret spot locations, top-secret bait information and "liking" everyone's comments. Where, oh where did I go wrong? Ok, here you go. 36.577005° N 93.529928° W
  15. Will not give up yet on your varmit baits and will keep them in boat. Didn't do great with them so far this year, but did not devote much time. Good walleye on varmit though this year. Just too many other baits I like and do well with.
  16. Yeah..................sure you will. I've said the same thing for the past 5 years. Take some out only to add other stuff. Maybe this year it will happen. Boat might move a little faster also.
  17. Makes a good wake in flat water in video. Pretty much runs sub-surface. Interested....yes, but even though I like Megabass baits, just not sold yet. May only get 1/2 dozen.
  18. Bobby, Lifetime Permits for Fishing or Hunting, or combined are available. Lifetime Fishing permits include Trout Stamp. This does not include Border Lakes Permit though. Price is based upon your age. Here's a link. http://huntfish.mdc.mo.gov/huntfish/permits/lifetime-fishing-permit-residents-only
  19. Triple-secret gar bait is the Ned PBJ A-rig rope bait with 1/100 oz. heads. They will take it rather gently so be on guard. Actually, did have one on silver grub last October near Piney. Came straight to boat then blasted away other direction. Drag could not keep up. Maybe 6 - 7 pounds. Let it keep my bait.
  20. you talking about high water issues/drownings?? Love the Elk river, super smallmouth bite, been a few year since I been there though
  21. We constantly talk about the wide range of equipment used in our fishing adventures and what products are best, or not so good, but what else is it, outside of the hardware, that most often makes one fisherman consistently excel, in different conditions, on different waters, at different times of the year. Is it knowledge, experience, drive, luck, awareness, magic, having a great mentor or some combination of these? As with other skills, are some folks just born fishermen? Certainly, some who never fish at a young age and get into the game later in life, can and do develop into premier fishermen. What parts of the mental game of fishing can we further develop to improve our success and increase our enjoyment? I was just wondering.............and that gets me into trouble too often. Good fishing! Go fishing!

  23. Think this may have been April 11, 2008. Probably the highest I've ever seen the lake. Took this shot from supermarket parking lot. Would like to see wake boats try to go through there on the south side.
  24. Think that InvisX moves pretty quickly. What I received appears very fresh.
  25. Tackle Warehouse has 1,000 yd spools for big discount occasionally throughout the year. Watch for it. Think it may have been $45 for 1,000yd spool of 12# & 8#. Might have been late winter last time.
