  1. The biologists will figure it out. Hope the politicians get on board with taking care of a fishery. Sometimes, just knowing the answer to a question isn't enough. Other times we humans do OK.
  2. Which wife was this one?

DeAndre Hopkins is a Chief. That's going to sting a little for the rest of the League.
  4. Did a similar trip one time back in the late '90's. What a magnificent area and wonderful report. Glad you had such a great time.
  5. That's a lot of honey!

Poor injury ridden Chiefs led by a struggling Patrick Mahomes, running backs picked up off the street and basically no wide receiving corps worth mentioning. Still put a WHIPPING on the 49'ers. Spagnolo (aka The Wolf from Pulp Fiction) is a defensive genius. Three interceptions, six knockdowns, the 49'er's main running back gained a whopping 54 yards. Man it's fun to be a Chiefs fan these days.
  7. It's like living in Northern New Mexico. Comfortable for sure.
  8. I thought everyone had forgotten Hawn State Park. It's a beautiful place.
  9. Great read. Many thanks. The old folks road is a tough one. Way to keep an attitude, seriously. I think most here would agree the Niangua is a gem.

    What's Cooking?

Fried green tomatoes and cheese stuffed jalapeno's. The peppers were surprisingly mild, but with good flavor. Cherokee Purples are still the best, fried or ripe.
  11. This was an everyday thing while we were there. They do not care about cars and do not hurry.
  12. I mow them down. The Chickens are happy about it too. Dang it is nice out today!
  13. Lee Fine is a picnic compared to that dinky one in Osage Beach. Landed there once at night in a twin Beech with a pilot that liked Margaritas. Once only.
  14. They like to have their calves out on the golf course. The day we left there was a huge bull taking a siesta on one of the greens close to our hotel. Not sure what their local rules are for that situation.
  15. We just got back from a trip to Estes Park and RMNP. What an incredibly beautiful area. Elk traffic jams daily in Estes. Trees with branches only on the downwind side. 25 degrees and 50 MPH wind at 12,000 feet. Yet life abounds, even up there. Just a completely different world than down here. And water. If there's water available, and they want it someplace else, it happens. Even if RMNP is in the way. Huge tunnels take water from the Western Slope to the Front Range, feeding 8 hydro stations and ultimately, the Big Thompson River. Now to me, that's a heck of a testament to the value of water and the ingenuity of mankind in managing it. There's a similar deal on the Gunnison with a long tunnel carrying irrigation water from a reservoir in the Black Canyon out into what would otherwise be nearly desert. The Gunnison tunnel is old, predating modern surveying and boring equipment. They started at both ends and met nearly perfectly in the middle. This type of thing will never cease to amaze me. This is about 11,000' elevation in RMNP overlooking another 17,000 acres of wilderness alpine tundra.

PSA: First freeze = fried green tomato season. Finally!!!!
  17. One of the reasons I suggest Lilley's is safety - he's not likely to lose his footing and fall in which is easy to do at RR when you're that old. Also, if he gets tired of fishing a nice sightseeing cruise on Taneycomo might be welcome. Good on you for taking care of him whatever you do.
  18. That's a lot of money but they probably know what they're doing.
  19. Lilley's
  20. Pickle Creek is a real gem. Good job Daryk.
  21. If your eye doctor says you need cataract surgery, just do it, no question about it. Have some good sunglasses for afterwards. You'll want them and be happy overall.
  22. The bullpen was solid IMHO. Starters were too. Royals were in every game through the 9th. Fun but disappointing to watch. On the upside though, let's talk about Garcia.
  23. He struggled for sure. But his defense stayed superb. I'm a long-term Bobby Witt Jr. fan.
  24. George Brett remains the Class of the Royals. I'm sure he's proud of what they accomplished and wants to see even better next season.
  25. Bobby Witt makes a real difference in KC. Go Royals.
