    What's Cooking?

Lovey got into it before I got the "finally it's done photo" And then I got into it and didn't take a plated picture. It was pretty darn good. Roast was super tender and the veggies were nice and done without being mush. And I did get to finish mowing the yard.

    What's Cooking?

That's a sirloin roast. Barked on a hot mesquite charcoal fire. The liquid is a pretty fair red wine and a little EVOO and some kitchen bouquet. The crystals on top are salt. There are three big cloves of garlic cut into slices and then inserted in slices in the roast. Going on the egg. While I mow. With the lid on. Roast at about 250 for maybe three hours. Then prep some vegetables. Yukon Gold potatoes, sweet onion, baby carrots and a rutabaga cubed. If you've never had rutabaga, think turnip without the bitter bite. One of my favorite root vegetables. Let it cook some more. Will post up when done.
  3. That would have been the smart move if they didn't have other plans for them. Probably needed a photo though.
  4. Buzzards gotta eat too, same as worms. Thus sayeth The Outlaw Josey Wales. In nature, there is no waste. Count on that.
  5. Way to start him out on a fairly decent beginner's rig. That's really awesome, lots more good times to come! Talk about a mini me. Dang he looks just like you.
  6. Guys like you are getting harder and harder to find. Nice job. Wrench is too girlie about those reds. Cook them good and brown like you will anyway and they are tasty and harmless. I've only probably ate ten or twenty pounds of them since I was 14 and they didn't kill me yet.
  7. Your words, not mine..... When is the next time you'll be down this way?
  8. I'm guessing 3/16oz super spot.
  9. I just found out I'm missing something else, I don't even have a favorite pro.
  10. BTW the stupidest ever clothing fad is not what I now know a buff is. It is wearing a nice warm stocking hat in the summer.
  11. I read about it a fair bit before buying a really bright LED unit that produces green light. I'm looking forward to doing it again. Went once with a friend years ago and we did pretty good.
  12. I use livestock panels for climbing beans. They work really well too.
  13. Ahh. Shoulda knowed. Don't have any. But if I did, it would be one of those things that make you look like a skeleton. Then I would be too cool for school.
  14. I've made cages out of concrete reinforcing wire. About 3' in diameter and 4' tall. That wire is heavy enough to support the vines just fine and the openings are 6"x6" so easy to see and pick whatever you are growing, be it cucumbers, squash or tomatoes.
  15. What's a buff? I'm guessing not a bison.

    What's Cooking?

No wonder. You're too busy cooking! That chicken dish sounds real good, plus it looks very nice the way you have it plated. I'd have added cilantro too. Love that stuff.
  17. I was having some discomfort with a really small grip on a St. Croix last time I was out with Ham. I've since put some bike handlebar wrap on it to make it a larger diameter. Would something like that maybe help your issues?
  18. Been down that road, have the scars to prove it. My experience: Walking for exercise helps a lot. Don't know if you struggle with weight or not but either way, getting to and keeping a healthy weight also helps a lot. Core strengthening too. A good physical therapist can help you learn how to strengthen where you need it and also improve flexibility which is also important. Hope you get to feeling better soon. None of the previous are easy, but are worth it to live without that constant burning pain.

Finley was bank full Friday afternoon. It was dark when I crossed it this morning so I really can't say yet what shape it is in right now. But I'm sure it's cleared up a lot but is still running high.
  21. Nano is picky about knots. Learn to tie leader on with Crazy Alberto. Then use a palomar or improved clinch or loop for whatever you're fishing with. No further problems. Palomar is not the right knot for tying directly to nano. It will cut itself. Mono is definitely simpler.
  22. Two grandsons are ate up with it. Youngest brother isn't. Two others aren't to the age yet but I will try my best to give them the bug too.
  23. I've fixed a lot of leaks from the outside of aluminum boats with nothing fancier than JB Weld. Not fixed as in forever, but for as long as it takes to hit that spot again on something. Fill the boat with water, mark the leaking spot or spots, drain, let dry and then go to town. Worth a try if its not a fitting and it's leaky rivets or a small rip in the hull.
