  1. Biggest fish I ever caught was an 85 lb. blue out of the Missouri River. Will try to find a picture to scan and post. Caught a shark about that same size off Myrtle Beach one time. The shark pulled a LOT harder then the blue.
  2. ^^ Two good lookers in that pic.
  3. I am a Philistine who cannot resist the temptation to fish a rainbow colored 3" or 5" countdown Rapala anytime I am up near the cable and the water is running. Cast 3/4 downstream on 4 lb test, count it down about six or eight and use an irregular retrieve - can nearly always do some damage that way. That was working pretty good Saturday morning while the water was on (before we saw you and Pete). Just one more way to fish the wonderful resource that Taneycomo surely is.
  4. Its the internet. Thin skin will never last. Bo doesn't seem to be very thin skinned.
  5. That's a pretty big jump. Any state record fish is a heck of a deal. Congratulations.
  6. Shadmasters Elite Tournament Trail Extreme Pro Guide model rods coming soon to a tackle shop near you.
  7. That fish is lucky you caught him instead of me.
  8. If it's big enough to use the Expo Center more than likely you will be able to find a thing or two that will be worth having. I'll swing by for a look, that's for sure. But for me it's a 20 minute drive, not two hours.
  9. What's the current state record gizzard shad?
  10. 6'6" Light Fast or Medium Light Fast. Why? Sensitive, good casting control, good fish control. On the LF rod will be nanofil with 4 lb maxima leader. On the MLF rod will be either the same set up with nano fil or 6 lb diameter Gama mono. The LF rod is a Shimano Clarus. The MLF rod is a Falcon Original. I'm happy with both of them. If I ever want anything heavier (seldom on the creek) there is a St. Croix 6'6" Medium/Fast rod. Trying an Okuma reel on it with 8 lb. diameter Gama. But I really got that one to chase whites and hybrids with, probably won't see much if any creek action.
  11. Thanks for a great time Phil.
  12. Wow.
  13. A 17/54 will be a nice stable river ride. Enjoy it in good health.
  14. Phil this page calls up some malware. Just FYI.
  15. That's good to hear. I've got a nice pair of Maui Jim's but based on what you posted will give Costa a shot next time I buy.
  16. Everybody has those days now and then.
  17. So.. that;'s a 20" + brownie?
  18. He must have been fishing it wrong.
  19. You look like you're trying to swallow one too.
  20. No way. Nice FISH!
  21. Should have fished the ned. Also known as the slump buster.
  22. I don't want to be negative Nancy but isn't it really just a matter of time before they make it basically everywhere they can survive?
  23. How's your back doing?
  24. I'm a nanofil believer now too. Thanks to our mutual friend Ham. I've figured out that Alberto knot is a lot easier to tie with four hands when you have eyes as old as mine. P.S. Hope your daughter's team won!
  25. Yeah, he could not keep his hand off the reel handle and that was probably the biggest difference. That and line size. A good rod can make a lot of difference too, but only if everything else is right.
