  1. $ 73,000,000.00 for a good defensive back in the NFL. Fishermen's paydays are weak.
  2. Gosh, thanks.
  3. I figure you'd like to see me not be a moderator in the future either so I included you in the offer.
  4. Hey Mitch have I got a deal for you. You and Wrench behave for six months - not one moderator action on anything you two post - and I'll resign from my moderator duties. Offer is good for the next 24 hours. If you two really think I'm a problem, I'm offering you a solution.
  5. Low maybe but not dry you goofy old man
  6. Where are the marshmallows and Hershey bars?
  7. This happened a while ago- back when people sent out Christmas cards and you always got samples of cards to buy. One year I took one of the sample cards, crossed out the message and wrote: "Things were a little tough this year so we're working on cutting back on Christmas expenses. But it's the thought that counts, so Merry Christmas." Mailed it to my brother in-law at his office address with no postage and his home address as return address. Worked perfect too, had to pay his own postage for our Christmas card that year.😈 To me it's funny but maybe you had to be there....

    Fish Taste?

You can target them in June in the big rivers. Throw lines near brush or rip rap with current. Sunfish or carp minnows work great. By minnow I mean a 5 to 6 inch fish, hooked under the dorsal fin. Bring an honest to goodness big net and maybe even a gaff. For really big fish, the gaff is the deal. We always shot for going in the dark of the moon in June and did pretty good after we figured our system out. An aerated bait tank is a must. I made mine out of a plastic 55 gallon barrel with a pvc spray bar and a bilge pump. Worked great to change the water when we wanted and kept everything alive for days.
  12. I knew the people that ran the Mountain Springs trout farm. They had the great idea to feed all the fish guts, dead fish and such to their pigs. Bad idea, the meat had a definite fishy taste. But what they fed was not processed into commercial feed, it was just the raw waste.

    Fish Taste?

I was not aware that set lines in the right place baited with live bait is now illegal.

    Fish Taste?

The best catfish I've ever had didn't know what corn was. Best catfish there is = belly meat from a big flathead. That and cheeks.

    Fish Taste?

Fish that eat their natural food are much better tasting than any farm raised fish fed purina fish chow. Fresh water or salt water. Farmed oysters are fine though, they don't get fed anything artificial, just provided a good substrate to live on in what is normally a great place for oysters to live.
  16. It's Lovey's birthday and we are camping and going out for a steak dinner. So thanks but I had better take a pass.

    What's Cooking?

In honor of the best cook here - RPS - tonight it's tater tot hot dish. A layer of browned hamburger with onion, garlic, Lea and Perrins, salt and pepper, layer of cream of mushroom soup, layer of Italian green beans, salt and pepper on the beans, healthy layer of shredded colby jack and then - the crowning glory - a layer of tater tots, seasoned with "The Gospel". Then 45 +/- minutes at 375.
  18. Gosh, this makes me want a bass boat bad.
  19. We'll video it for you.
  20. There are a bunch of people who'll be there that would like that a lot. Knapping and history, that would make for a good couple of hours out on the porch.
  21. Look at the big brain on Brad!
  22. Yeah, but think about the size of those prehistoric bluegills.
  23. You guys make bass fishing sound like so much fun!
  24. Why do you hate Jurassic World? You afraid of a velociraptor or something?
  25. Lovey and I have booked this trip. That last one was great.
