  1. I dumped earlier this year too. Mega wind blowing straight upstream, fast spot and trying to fish when I should have been paddling. It was instant.
  2. I'm still going to try a short - maybe 12" - drag chain.
  3. Chief Grey Bear talk good injun.
  4. Stupendous thread drift.
  5. It's just too wierd. What's sad is there are churches (at least one in Harrison Arkansas) that are so wound around the axle on the whole thing is they say they'll no longer sponsor cub scouts if that decision goes to allow openly gay people in Boy Scouts. To me, that is really sad. No, pathetic and pathogenic.
  6. I don't think so.
  7. There are hundreds if not thousands of tons of nuclear waste. It's not just the rods, it's all the stuff that gets contaminated as part of the day to day operations at a nuke. It's NOT feasible to launch that stuff into space. It does show the depth of understanding of these issues though.
  8. You need a driver's license to use public roads. Just sayin'.
  9. I grew up in Nevada in the '60's. The Boy Scouts were very active then, I think there were four or maybe five troops in town. Lots of camping trips, and lots of other activities too. Went on my first night hunt with Boy Scouts, caught my first bass on a lure I had made myself, also learned to play poker. The troops were pretty competitive with each other which only added fun. Summer Camp at Frank Childress near Joplin was a deal too. Canoeing, swimming, target shooting. Scouting was a big influence on my life, and a positive one. I made it through Life scout and then actually moved on to Explorers, which was also good until it finally fell apart due to the leader moving away. We had good leaders and I'm grateful for what they gave to me and my friends. Wish I'd have had the chance to do Philmont.
  10. It was shine. Let's see the pics.
  11. We do indeed know pretty well high and low tide times and levels pretty much everywhere. It's the other stuff that gets complicated.
  12. Here's as simple as it gets for me creek / smallmouth fishing. Always imitate crawfish. You can do that with plastics, crankbaits, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.
  13. It's nowhere as simple as figures on paper. The problem is still storing off peak generation to dampen demand curves v. generation capacity + T & D. That's not to say the problem cannot be solved, but it is far from simple. R & D is still needed and is happening.
  14. Infrastructure investment needed, going to MIC instead if you ask me.
  15. Solar has similar issues to wind relating to generation not corresponding well with demand. There's a lot of R&D going into energy storage systems. Some overlooked issues with nukes include mining impacts, waste storage, and decommissioning costs. There's just no easy button. Darn the luck.
  16. Nice. Love that rope swing shot.
  17. My problem with BPS is I want that statue that stands out in front at my house. Wouldn't mind having my ceiling decorated like theirs either.
  18. I want to see the link to fines being applied for bird strikes on power lines.
  19. Grab some smallish (1/8 oz, 3/16 oz, 1/4 oz) orange / chartreuse safety pin spinnerbaits with gold blades (colorado blades if you can find them) before you go. Trust me on this one.
  20. Looks like a job for little buddy to me.
  21. I'm pretty stuck on plain old green maxima 4 lb test for line. Rods I like 6' Light Fast action. Reels I'm running two Shimano Sahara 1000 size with good success, a 1000 size symetre that's probably ten + years old now and also one Daiwa Exceller that's a 1500 size. The Daiwa has 6 lb line on it. All of the above are on Berkeley Lightnin' Rods except the Symetre. It's on a 7' LF Wally Marshall rod I bought when he was still with Bass Pro. The exceller is on a ML Lightnin' Rod. I know, I'm an outdated old throwback. But I don't feel handicapped by my gear, which I guess is the bottom line.
  22. I started out on a zebco. Guess I should have had you as my grandpa! Have fun with him, he looks ready for it.
  23. For the money, I just don't see how you ever beat the Berkeley Lightnin' Rods. Not sure you can still get them with foam grips though.
  24. The river was about a foot to eighteen inches higher than normal and just enough color. Caught several smallmouth, nothing big. 1/8 oz orange/chart spinnerbaits, single gold colorado blade was what was working for me. I almost always try to imitate crawdads, and those are surely craw colors. Very nice day to be out and about.
