  1. I have a 22' Tracker fishing pontoon with a 115 mercury. Top speed is about 22 MPH, which is fast enough for me. Storage is an issue and they do move around in the wind. Nothing is perfect though. Mine is on a lift at Mutton Creek. Very convenient and we love it. Avoid carpet! And I bet you will find that you like shade too on days like these.
  2. Next time I am in that part of the world I will pause in Ouray for at least a couple of days. Mesa Verde is not to be missed. We stayed a few days at Ancient Cedars which is directly across the highway from the entrance. Nice sunsets.
  3. Another option for dealing with the heat is elevation. I've never been very hot above 8000'. No matter the latitude.
  4. Weekend is supposed to be delightful with lower temp and humidity. We deserve it.
  5. IIRC, the 1/8 cent sales tax is for land acquisition only. That's why some oppose it. In theory, someday MDC will own all of Missouri.
  6. Do you want to float from point A to point B or put in at point A, float down and motorboat back to the put in? If you want to do a downstream float, anywhere will work. Down and back Hootentown is usually a safe put in to get back to. The river for the next five miles or so down from Hootentown is good fishing. Anywhere down from Hootentown will normally be fine for a jet to run up or down. Horse Creek to Galena is good fishing too. Have fun, it is a great river that's been enjoyed by many for a long time!
  7. IF they're stainless - which is very likely - none. Why not be safe and rinse everything well when you're done.

    What's Cooking?

If there's anything better on the 4th of July than BBQ pork steaks, somebody needs to tell me what it is. I mean other than a 45 day dry aged steak of course.
  9. EEWWW. Stinking green bass.

Make it a grass fed ribeye 2" thick and you are so on. I'll supply Caymus and a day on the Finley. That's a legit invite BTW.

Stay in Kansas City. Just sayin.
  12. You're one of my trusted sources. BTW, its Don's Chuck Wagon onion ring batter. Ignore the box directions. Add an egg first and use a beer for liquid. You know it's good.

    What's Cooking?

I am going to char some ears and make a corn black bean salad. After the first few steamed buttered ears. You wouldn't like the salad though. It has peppers, onions, garlic, agave and the dreaded cilantro. I guess you could skip cilantro if you don't care for the taste of dial.
  14. I won't put a knife on any drum. They're fun to catch though!
  15. I still don't get how redfish are so sought after and their freshwater brethren are considered by many to be trash fish.
  16. Wait! That's what was on Stockton too!. I told you guys everything is everywhere. Am I right or what?
  17. There was a unicorn that size on Stockton Saturday.
  18. I have it on good authority that chantrelles are out.
  19. Floating around in Stockton Lake for a few hours worked for us yesterday. When not in the water or moving in the boat, it was HOT!
  20. Heartiest congratulations to your daughter and her parents!

    What's Cooking?

We made fried green tomatoes to go with a crockpot breakfast casserole for a group of friends at Mutton Creek. Awesomeness. Maybe the Bloody Mary pitchers had something to do with the awesomeness??? Flour, egg wash, seasoned panko fried in coconut oil. The coconut oil added a nice bit of flavor.

    What's Cooking?

Tonight is super simple. Cherokee purple tomato slices, cucumber and onion salad and cottage cheese. Summertime baby!
  24. We deserve some Canada air for a few days. Dang it is hot. What a great trip. I need to do that too!
