    What's Cooking?

Won a bet on the election?
  3. I'm three total. Lane, Tyler and myself. Friday night and Saturday night.
  4. Awesome OTF. Thanks for sharing. I need that today.

    What's Cooking?

I want to know about pickled walnuts!
  6. By the way, Whiskey is my dog. We would hang out in the back and just watch and hand out water and stuff.
  7. The coyotes know something is up. They are going off everywhere around me. The birds do too. We had a pair of Baltimore Orioles in the yard today. First time ever for them.
  8. Well then AGFC and MDC are clearly co-conspirators.

    What's Cooking?

Pickled Walnuts? Do tell. Slightly off topic. I like hot vinegar as a condiment. So yesterday I brought home a quart of habaneros, a couple of poblanos, divided them between two quart jars, added five or six whole cloves of garlic and about a teaspoon of pickling spice in each jar, filled with white vinegar and put them in the cabinet to rest a while. Will report later. But I know how it will go.

    What's Cooking?

For supper today I am going to braise some short ribs in a chocolate stout. I'll do that on the egg with no lid on the dutch. Think I'll throw an onion in too and of course some garlic. To be accompanied by the last of Farmer's market broccoli, a green salad featuring farmer's market butter lettuce sugar snaps and tomato. For football time, I'll fry some more of that chicken of the woods.

    What's Cooking?

Tonight its a couple of filets, last of the farmer market brussell sprouts and an amazing late season sliced tomato - a brandywine. Going to put some Trappist lemon marmalade on the sprouts. Dessert will be Assumption Abbey fruitcake. Edit: That tomato tasted like it was August 5, not November 5.

    What's Cooking?

I killed a chicken of the woods on Thursday. Grilled hamburgers and battered and deep fried a big batch of the mushroom Thursday evening. Didn't touch the hamburgers. They were good on Friday though. Thanks to the long hang time of that particular type of mushroom, expect to do more of it tomorrow while watching Chiefs handle Jaguars.
  13. Hey! I didn't say he was a jerk, I just said he tries to be one. I bet he will own it too. I'd fish with him any day.
  14. P.S. You are aware they make this stuff called Kevlar now right?
  15. You might try to be the biggest jerk on the forum at least when it comes to the cooking parts, but you catch some fish. Props.

    What's Cooking?

Salt, pepper, dip in egg and milk, roll in cracker crumbs and deep fry. Make a little gravy and now you are talking.
  17. Not a problem. Like you, I don't fault the Marina owners for taking what they can get. I do however fault FWS and MDC for their participation in this.
  18. I'll be a buyer too.
  19. If you don't like brown water after a rain, then you need to be sure to vote for Amendment 1 which will continue the 1/10% Missouri sales tax that benefits soil and water conservation and also Missouri State Parks. Soil erosion is the number one contributor of nutrients to our waters and this program has resulted in over 200,000 improvements that reduce soil erosion. We need to continue the effort.
  20. Wow what an ending. Too bad the Cubs won but they earned it.

    What's Cooking?

Canned tamales are good if you add a can of mexi-corn and a can of chili then cover with shredded cheese. Just remember to unwrap them before baking.
  22. Tie ball game top of the 9th. Go Tribe.
  23. Pump out facilities are one thing. Big slips are another altogether. 24 to be exact at the Campbell Point Marina, unless my reading comprehension skills are now lacking. "The transient dock manufactured by MariCorp U.S., features 24 slips that can accommodate boats up to 30′ in length"
