  1. My buddies and I will keep stocker trout. We'll keep catfish as long as it's not a channel. We'll keep carp. We'll most certainly keep crappie and bluegill. We don't keep bass of any kind as a general rule. The exception being a night on the river, and then enough for dinner - maybe. And then if I am catching any spotted bass, those are the ones to keep.
  2. James is closer and every bit as good for another option.
  3. Nice trip, nice report, nice fish. Thanks for posting.
  4. That's one reason why I wish smallmouth bass tasted like crap.
  5. Call me crazy but I wish smallmouth bass tasted like crap.
  6. It takes about six years for a smallmouth to get to 14 inches. I fear we are in permanent disagreement. Especially given the pressure that the rivers see these days. Again I say they are a lot more fun to catch than they are to eat. Put them back.
  7. I got a problem with people keeping smallmouth. They grow too slow to be a meat fish and are a lot more fun to catch than they are to eat. Put them back.
  8. Plus you guys are fishing where every yahoo and his brother do too. Between the park and Baptist Camp is a lot of water with a lot of fish in it but it takes a little bit to get there.
  9. Power bait or three or four grains of corn on trout hook, a split shot about 2' above the hook and a 1/4 oz bell sinker above that. Chuck it as far out and down from the dock as you can.
  10. Hey if the box pops up I can do it. The avatar proves it. And thanks for the welcome and the attempted help. I did e-mail Phil on my little problem.
  11. I found this forum the other day and had to join. Live just outside Ozark and love to float and fish the streams and occasionally Taneycomo. Looks to be a very informative site. Thanks for hosting it Phil.
  12. Turned pop up blocker off, does the same thing. That's just wierd, I've never had a problem posting photos anywhere.
  13. Thanks man. Edit: Doesn't work for me. The screen gives everything a grey background and the machine won't take squat. Have to hit the back button to get out of that place.
  14. Highway 65 to EE. East outer road (aka Selmore road) back north about two miles.
  15. I bought a pescador from Academy for something like $500 and have been exceptionally happy with it. I've since learned that hull design was sold for years as Tarpon 12. Ozark Mountain Traders are located on 65 just south of Ozark. They've got a really good selection of kayaks and canoes. This is a good time of the year to make a deal on one. I bought a Mad River canoe from them and they treated me very well.
  16. How do you go about posting photos on this site? I'm using photobucket and the img code won't copy and paste?
  17. Those hounds were likely on coyotes, not deer.
  18. We hammered them off that dock last Saturday. Powerbait and corn were both working for us.
  19. I count on small jigs fished slow in deep water. Small = 1/8 oz heads and tube. I favor orange and brown or pumpkinseed. Something that looks crawdaddyish. Very original, huh?
  20. I live not far from there and float that section every chance I get. Saw them too, twice on different trips. The first time it was a pair, the second time there were three. Awesome birds. The last trip I caught one fish in the deep hole about halfway between Linden and Green Bridge, about a 14" smallmouth. That's all I need to keep me going,
