Any idea at what water temp the whites head out to their wintering grounds, I’m thinking once it gets below 50. ??

Came down Wednesday afternoon, headed out after some whites with no luck on the banks, seen gulls going after Shad so headed across the lakes & caught a limit of nice ones in aboutb30-40 minutes throwing a 1/4 oz lipless crank bait. Went back Thursday late morning and early afternoon and started finding them on banks, went back to where I caught them the day before and fished the adjacent banks and caught another limit, after a bit I started culling fish there were so many stacked on the banks. Caught all them on a 1/4 oz vibric spinner. All in Indian Creek. Had a blast, sitting in a deer stand now. Good luck

It seems to me quillback that by the time we get to the lake we might as well try something different than what the reports we read dictate, these fish change what they want by the minute it seems. Good luck

Nice variety of fish quill, seems you had a good day of fishing and observations.

None of us are a TR seasoned guide or a Mr Babler but we all have the one quality it takes to find these fish we are after and that is persistence and don’t give up which is easier said than done for sure, I feel like I really accomplished something by finding that bite, too bad it was the morning we had to leave, but none the less it was great, thinking about a 3 day weekend end of week and early next week, with no expectations of course, makes it easier to go home empty handed. The wife and I came down for a few days and fished and spent one day in Branson for anniversary vacation. Caught some nice Kentucky’s drop shot and the best was this 4lb 4 oz largemouth I took on the jig Friday morning before we left, caught it close by and the wife wanted to see it so I run back to the dock for a bit before sending him back to the abyss.

Later in the year wrench when they move up on the banks one of my best spots is right next to a dock. Last year since they dropped the dang water early it caused a little bit of a problem but they were still there but not as many as previous years, lets hope the jerks at Ameren can leave things alone for a bit, sure would help if we were to get some rain also.

You ever think about dragging a swing jig under the conditions with a football jig bite as such. Curious

I was tempted to by the Falcon rod for sure, I took Mr. bablers advice and bought the falcon care ccm-4-17 cranker for my wobble heads and medium cranks a few years back and love the rod, I seen a post a while back I remember where he uses it for spoons and other options but cant remember all he quoted, great products in Falcon

Champ 188 turned me on to the Ducket micro magic 6’9” rod, great spinner bait rod, the Dobyns 7’3” was basically made for top water I believe but is a great spinner bait rod for longer cast and more open areas, the smaller 6’9 works great around all the docks for me at LOZ and the longer I prefer at more open casting like at Table Rock.
