Not just limited public companies... lots of private companies are buying/selling as well. -

There's billions of dollars in the private equity funds that HAS to be deployed in the near future or the funds need to return the money to the investors, which they won't do. The result is lots of companies buying assets. Likewise, lots of companies under PE ownership are following the route flysmallie is describing... buy lots of smaller companies in the same industry (say for 5x EBITDA), bundle them in your base business, then turn around and sell the whole package for a 10x mult. There are lots of highly leveraged deals going on out there. Don't know if I want to call it a bubble, but sure seems like one is building. -
Stl County Park Lakes been any good recently?

I'm right by 44 and 109 and also down for a trip whenever. Have a kayak I can load up... or provide gas money. -
I have a Humminbird 698ci on my kayak. It is the previous model, with a smaller screen. Very happy with the performance of that unit, so it your getting the MEGA and a bigger screen I'd imagine you'd be just fine. The screens only have so much resolution, but if you save any of the images or record your path, the quality on a computer is pretty incredible.

Ha! Me too. Desperation move on my part.

IBR... Income based repayment on federal Loans. Have an auto-forgiveness feature built in for all loans after 25 years. But, the forgiven amount is treated as taxable income when forgiven. The period lowers to 10 years if taking a job in public service. Theoretically, you can rack up a huge loan balance, do state social work and and have the balance forgiven after 10 years since you make peanuts. Reminds me a of one of my sisters friends who did undergrad at Loyola U Chicago and then got a Masters of Social Work at Wash U. I don't even want to know what her loan total is. Makes no sense to me why you would pay $30K+ a year to learn to do social work and then make jack shoot when you get out. Also, seems real "socially aware" to run up a big balance on a loan to get the taxpayers to foot the bill when forgiven... instead of fed monies that could be spent helping people who need the money, they're used to pay off your dumb@zz decision.

Well Said Flysmallie. -
Yeah, no disagreement there.

It boggles my mind that there hasn't been a manufacturer to come up with essentially the transducer connected to a little computer CPU, with video out jacks, and then let the user decide on what screen to buy and use. I guess they protect them selves buy charging premiums for the screen size when in reality all you are paying for is the sonar technology. You can buy a top of the line 24" TV for $150... with minimal difference the sonar screens. Pay another $100 bucks and you can make it touch screen. Sonar companies are GOUGING people.

Jealous man! Have fun, let us know how it goes.

I think you would be fine if you are in on the Green Bay side, and in any of the bays... Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, Sister Bay, Rowleys Bay, and Sturgeon Bay. Maybe on windy days it might be a little dicey. I've paddled the kayak in the bay areas and never felt unsafe. Main lake areas do get a bit choppy however, even in somewhat calm conditions. But the bays are big enough to keep you entertained. Beautiful area.

1. A lot of companies require a passcode on the device if you are synced with their mail server. 2. If you utilize Apple Pay, or have other sensitive info stored on your phone it is a smart idea to have a passcode. 3. You can have a passcode set up on your phone and still call 911 AND access an emergency contact number, your name, family/friends name and contact info, blood type, weight, etc. 4. For those concerned with government overreach... a passcode is legally protected way to secure your data, and you as an individual are not required to provide that passcode, HOWEVER the fingerprint lock on your iPhone is not protected. Law enforcement can force you to open your phone with your fingerprint.

If you were closer to Destin, I'd have a few spots for ya... Just looking at the map around PCB, that jetty leading in/out of the Bay by St. Andrew's SP looks pretty good. If you can find some areas with submerged grass, where the tides roll in/out the fish will be there. I've done well with the packs of frozen mullet they sell at most gas stations and tackle stores. Free lined on weighted on the bottom. I also like the war eagle 1/2 - 1 oz. jigging spoons in Silver. Early morning topwater can be fun as well.
-
I'm sure the guides will have advice for you, but a 1/2 oz to full oz silver or gold jigging spoon, or something like a Johnson silver minnow can work wonders from shore. I like those jigging spoons because you can really cast them a mile.

Fished the Kimberling City area Saturday and Sunday. The bite was great on Saturday, and not as good on Sunday as far as numbers, but the size was better. Saturday, fished from Little Cow up to Mill Creek. Tried to find the flattest main lake stuff we could. Had the boat in about 25-35. Best bait was the tube, watermelon red. Mainly just dragged it but caught a few hopping it. Also caught a few swimming a keitech on both an under spin and just on a ball head. Fished mainly the middle to bottom of the water column. Caught nearly all smallmouth with a couple spots mixed in. Also caught some fish pitching to trees. Not brush, but shady tree trunks. Bigger fish all came on a Tackle HD Craw pitched to the trees. I survived on the main lake stuff from 6:30am until about 2pm, and it wasn't because of the fish, just got too hard to control the boat. Just a warning... they were really choking the tube down, that sucker was way down nearly all of their gullets. One was gut hooked pretty bad, swam off fine though. Sunday tried the same stuff, but wasn't having near the number of bites as the day before. However the bites I did get were better. Big fish of the day came on a Tackle HD Craw. Again, pitching to flooded trees. Not the brush but regular old tree trunks. Shadow of the tree seemed key. Best one of the day was about 20" off a tree on a brown orange craw. Also stumbled upon a really good night bite near the place we were staying. Caught about 6 with 2 nice keepers in about an hour burning a War Eagle black and red single Colorado blade. Tried slow rolling it... nothing. Burned it near the shoreline, and it got hammered. Brothers caught a few dragging a tube and hd craw also.

With this high water, and reports of people fishing crankbaits, what size line is everyone using for spinning tackle. Just trying decide whether or not to change out the line on my spinning gear for an upcoming trip.

Any of you guys over around the Rock see Val Kilmer today??

If you are using spinning gear a white or gray or natural colored marabou jig can be pretty good. Just figure out the retrieve they want. Pop it off the bottom... twitch while reeling at different depths. You can try little grubs or trout worms as well.

Nice bags... Care to share any details on your bite. Main lake stuff? Secondary?
