  1. Is anyone using tied hair jigs at all on TR? I have a friend who swears by them on TVA reservoirs but have not heard anything here.
  2. That is a nice stringer. Thanks for the detailed report. I had an opportunity to fly over the lake in a small aircraft both Thursday afternoon and this morning. While the traffic was heavier today, the same traffic pattern was obvious both days. The "draggers" were clustered up in certain areas and then there were none for a great distance. It's like they attract each other. We covered from Holiday Island to K City bridge and up past Cape Fair, same thing all over the lake, groups of 4 to 10 boats zipping around in the same areas.
  3. It is great to hear your wife is recovering. This whole thing has got to be very stressful for your whole family. Glad to hear you got a break and caught some fish. Thanks for the report and some encouragement on the topwater bite.
  4. Fortunately, there are abundant non-profit veterans support charities these days. I am very glad that my son returned from the war and was treated with respect from most of the public he encountered. That is a welcome change from the way we were viewed and treated when returning home. The one thing that hasn't changed in all that time, unfortunately is the VA.
  5. I have now been enlightened that a cautionary tale about some dangerous situations is whining. That a 1st class guide who makes a living and shares his knowledge on this lake, should just fish some obscure stream or pond when TR gets busy and stupid. It is nostalgic to hear a young, in-the-know fella, who is certain to be 100% right, tell all us d-bags how to solve these issues. I used to be that smart when I was about 21. I will now run out and recommend "OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS" to all the d-bags friends I know.
  6. I surely understand everyone's frustration with the terminally stupid and dangerous behavior often seen this time of year. I also know a lot of the ideas expressed are just folks talking, but Bill certainly did the right thing by not "meeting fire with fire". If we agree that you can't fix stupid (I know that is true) then we won't change these folks by retaliating. Thanks for the post, Bill, and reminding us all to be extra careful.
  7. Can't fool you guys. It is indeed Table Rock Dam. We added the flag not long after the cowardly attacks of 9/11. We were renovating the steel tainter gates, trunnions and hoisting equipment. You can see a completed gate on the left and old ones on the right. The tarps are for preventing debris falling in the water. We were required to prepare a submittal requesting permission - but we had been told nobody at the corp would sign off on it. There was fear it would make the structure a terrorist target. Somehow I just couldn't get that submittal sent to the right address or department for many months.
  8. Thanks for posting that information with the link and diagrams. Very interesting stuff. Maybe one of these days our Lowrance & Hummingbird units will calculate the hydrology physics and show the currents in different colors.
  9. This is one of our project sites and I thought this photo was worth sharing. We managed to get the flag straight on our second try. Our fingers looked like pincushions after sewing it. Anyone recognize this place?
  10. Great job. Thanks for the report.
  11. I like the 1/2 oz myself
  12. As I understand it, Zman has a mechanical patent on a jig with the blade attached directly to the eye. This may, or may not, make a difference. I haven't fished one with the split ring. I'll have to try that. Thanks.
  13. Which Mill Creek are you fishing? There is Little Mill and Big Mill creeks up by Shell Knob and a Mill Creek near KC
  14. It sound like I might need to get a seatbelt for the butt seat and fish near the dragger boats. We hope to make it down tomorrow.
  15. That's because you have mad skills that most of don't have
  16. I hoped to do some night fishing last year But that never materialized. I did get a couple of Moonshine Brand lights that plug into a power outlet and have tested them at night. One on front and one on back and it really lit things up. Unfortunately, I haven't a clue what I'm doing in the dark.
  17. Some of you may know of the great Piranha Swim Jigs that D&M Custom Baits makes. They are sold at Tackle Warehouse and lots of other places and are famous as ledge fishing baits. Word is that Zman has sent their patent attorney after everyone who attaches a blade to the front of a jig. So D&M pulled them from their site. I certainly support the rights of someone to defend their patent, but I sure wish Zman would make a bait of the highest quality that is possible if they won't let anyone else make a good one. I have never made any of these type jigs but do know of a reputable fella who may have some from time to time. Otherwise grab up what is available cause they will all be gone very soon except for the cheap Zman Chatterbaits.
  18. I also like the Nanofil line but if you are in a breeze it requires a sidearm cast that keeps the line close to the water. The Nanofil is light as a feather and will blow a bow in your line before it settles to the water if you make a looping cast.
  19. We can only hope he got separated and is ok on shore somewhere. We will keep the diver, his family and friends in our prayers.
  20. No longer the "Ned Rig" now is the "Stub Grub"
  21. . Good question but we might just be getting "Trolled" Names get attached to baits & systems based, often, by the writers who popularize them
  22. Interesting to see how it acts when you get in and out. Will it flip if you step on the edge?

    Pbj&dill

I just talked to Sport Boats in Shell Knob to see if they needed some more baits. The PBJ&Dill Football Jig is the hottest seller along with the pre-rigged Neds. The FB jig is a 1/2 ounce with a 60 strand skirt. The "PB" is a larger strand flat rubber, The "J" is purple silicone and the "Dill" is green pumpkin. So if you have something in your box that looks like that it might be worth trying.
  24. Thanks for the report. It looks like a good dinner after a well deserved nap
