That is one sweet jerkbait! Love it when the hand painted stuff works well!
-
Agree with the stuff here. Light and moisture are troublesome. The braid is most likely fine, as is the FC. The mono is cheap enough that i just replace it frequently anyway. You could always do the old, pull off a section and break it test....just dont cut your fingers.

So, what, if any are the proposed advantages/disadvantages of adding 2 more members? whats the poimt of adding members?

I keep passing up the river cuz it looks too muddy when I drive over 141. Looks good in your pics though. I've had decent luck throwing a white bandit 200. Chrome on sunny days. Tons of shad around there. Could be a hybrid of some sort. Did it have a rough patch on the tongue? Looks like a spot to me but I could be wrong.

Sounds like a great time!! That's a great rig for stockton!

Best day in the world right there.

I get em from lurepartsonline.com

Jerkbaits more than any other lure imo need good hooks as so many of the bites come as the lure is sitting still and it doesn't have that yummy mouth feel and tasty scent that plastics have. I have had great luck with rc stx, and xraps. I only bought 1 mcstick and it didn't suspend well. So I didn't buy anymore.

What color senko should I get? What's a safe bet?

Never tried it but I always assumed a white one Texas rigged would be very similar to a fluke in the water. -
Putting that on the back of a jigging spoon will set you up with a little george type lure. I dont know that anyone nowadays uses them (I have a few very old ones), but ill tell ya that they are super effective on table rock white bass, and you can cast it further than just about any other spinner type lure. I like to have 1 of those handy just in case i see some schooling bass that i cant reach with a nungesser. That said...the beauty of the jigging spoon is that it can be fished as subtle or aggressive as you want and its more versatile without the spinner IMO. Some days spinners just dont work, but most days slab spoons do.

Well....bank fishing should immediately rule out high dollar jerk baits unless your fishing very open water, or your cool with losing 10 of em in a trip. Ned rigs....well once again, unless your fishing open water its gonna get hung up or youll need to swim it (which does work...i just dont use that half a zinker deal..a small swimbait is what i prefer). Fast or slow, if your bank fishing you will have your best luck swimming baits. If your dead set on fishing the bottom from the bank, a texas rig something is very effective. A weightless wacky worm is also very effective, but the technique is casting it out, letting it sink to the bottom, wait, shake, wait, reel in quickly and do it again. If you try to retrieve it like a texas rig worm youll get hung up.

Also....depending on how old those are you may have some unique baits. I have a few old spooks and they all have different line tie positions and general construction. Not they they are necessarily any better than new ones, they just walk different.

No modifications required...those will kill em. Get some gammy round bend or death traps. I typically will put 1 size larger treble hooks than what come on them, size 2 or 4 usually. If your feeling fancy you can dress the treble as I feel it gets more bites. It's amazing to me how many fish a plastic turd will catch.

Good write up...for folks who are not used to fishing table rock this is something to tuck away somewhere. Deep fish on the rock are super easy to catch IMO once you figure out how. Easier than shallow fish IMO...ive never had any luck in less than 15fow at table rock, but deep fish stack up in ridiculous numbers, and when you get em fired up, its too easy! Although..im sure that you could catch bigger fish up shallow most times, but those football spots really gang up like crazy. A topo map and a little homework the night before can help you tremendously IMO. Spots to look for....1.) old creek channel meets old main river channel....2.) 2 smaller creek channels meet each other....3.) any creek channel with a sudden drop/hump/depression/rock pile ect. 4.) creek/river channel with wood. 5.) creek/river channel where the bottom composition changes abruptly. 6.) shad. I find places that i think will have as many of these variables covered (fish like the structure within the structure). Mark a bunch on a map...hit them in the morning spending about 30 min working an area. I like jigging spoons cuz you can work them slowly while moving quickly if that makes sense. You can even pick a bank, and work your way down it, just pick an old creek bank thats flooded under 20 fow. Just gotta remember that the bank is down there, and the fish are usually on the bank, you just cant see it. I cant tell you how many times ive had folks pull in between me and the bank and start casting towards it while making their way down the bank....they are sitting on top of the fish most times as they pull up right on the first ledge and start flinging stuff in 2 fow. YOu can often come in right behind them...cast to where they were and sho nuff...bass.

Nice work! Great day!

I like the colors, but im sure ill paint some up...and yes, this year i started feathering my own trebles as the ones i want are either too small or junk hooks. Thats def the way to go, those VMC xrap hooks suck! Thanks for the tip. I really like those lures.

The air stream and medallion showed up yesterday. Air stream is a 7ft ultra light 2pc. It's funny how different companies have totally different ideas of rod power and action. Def feels more like a light power fast action maybe even a med light. Either way....it's about the best rod I've seen for 50 bucks. Very light. Good reel seat. Decent guides...well put together. Correct that it is a bit stiffer in the mid section than the river runner (I'd like a med light fast river runner) and well....it was 50 bucks. This will be a perfect rod to 32 and 16th oz jigs. 1/64th is always the ultimate test. So I'll test that out. I will be ordering 1 or 2 more of these rods asap. The medallion I ordered was 6 9in 1pc med light.....disappointed. the list price was 100 bucks on sale for 50. It's bulky heavy and awkward. It's very tip heavy. Even with a size 40 reel it lurches forward. I have 2 berkeley Cherrywood rods and a pflueger Trion rod/reel combo that I would compare it to for good reference. Odd that the list price is higher on the madalion but it's not nearly as well put together. Much rather have another air stream.

Better hold on to those....soon spro will fix that problem and those will be worth 100 bucks!!

Get ur top dollars before they are gone! tackle warehouse denied me on my fav color of top dollars, saying they arent carrying them.

For lure retrievers i use an old broken deep sea rod, cut off at the first eyelet, paired with an old casting reel. The button to open the spool is broke so i just have to let the drag all the way down then tighten it back up. I have 80# braid and a 4 oz bottom bouncer attached to a snap. It works awesome! I put some chains on the snap as well to tangle the hooks up...although im not certain you really need them, im gonna take them off and see if it works as well. No matter what route you go those lure retrievers will save some money!

I love flicker shads, they have replaced just about all of my other trolling baits. Nothing has consistently produced for me when trolling like a flicker shad. My favorite color is purple tiger and blue tiger, although purple is my fav. Also, uncle rico is awesome. Last year i had the most luck with one i painted myself. So i painted a whole bunch more just like it lol. The other benefit to painting them yourself is you can prime it with white, and its so heavy that you get another foot or two out of trolling and they slow rise. I have a leadcore set up and dont really like it so if i have to fish much deeper than 18 or 19 feet ill switch to deeper running baits.....thats pretty rare though as i think deeper fish will still come up and get a flicker shad.

Ya its mostly the regular xr50s i think. bought a bunch after my cousin embarrased me on his lake in indiana. IDK why i did, i knew it wasnt the lure that was the problem....i have yet to do well with lipless crankbaits. Why are the one knocker baits so valuable?
-
Darn! I have 10 xr50s and i repainted every single one! Wish i would have left them, guess they woulda been worth some money! Good thing i found out old warts were valuable before i ruined all those too lol.
