Al that is the reason I cannot do it. It puts me in a place mentally I do not like to be. it is stressful and I do not fish to have stress.

What OP was trying to say was there are some better fisherman than many of those on tour. Who cannot make it. Not because of the lack of skills but because they are not connected. Some of those people might very well be in the top if they were connected. I just do not approve of that kind of thing. So to me These guys are the top where they are. I have no idea who is out there right now that is as good or better. So it would be hard for me to agree these guys are the best when I know that being the best bass fisherman is not going to get you on tour by itself.

I been there and back wife bought a pair of real nice sneakers I bought a salt water type fishing hat. With a large bill and neck shade. Not cheap but very light weight and will help stop some of these skin cancers I have removed every year. Did not buy any rods or reels, but did buy some small stuff like tools and some made up flies that I bought to fish with wrench this spring. Has been years since I touched a fly rod. I am suppose to go up there to his place and have a refresher. I might surprise him. Best thing I found down there was they had Johnson spite spoons for I think it was $2.69 each. That is cheap. I is one of my favorite jigging spoons. Over all it is not a bad place.

I am heading down there tomorrow. i have never been there I am wondering about some if these post about the price being different at the check out counter. Is that something i will have to check closely about.

You know why you do not see some of them out there don't you Bill???? They cannot afford the cost of competing and do not have the connections to get on some of these tours. Others have given up the tournament game because of some of the things they have seen and they feel about it overall. I know a family that everyone from grandpa down to the grand kids or on tour. But its not fair to some of those who want to climb that later. Myself there is just something about on or near the water it is the whole experience out there for me.

Al I would think hiding a spot in a stream would be harder than in a lake because if the nature of moving water. Here on LOZ you can a real good spot.then for some reason like movement of forage or something the bass just move. Sometimes you can find them back there when the conditions are the same the next year, but often you will not. Finding real bass spots on lakes is more like hunting than fishing in a lot of ways.

In other words Phil he missed it. That happened twice to me this past year. Lost both my dog and cat. The dog was very old but the cat was not. In the dogs case I knew the symptoms and I read up on it on the internet. We took the dog to the vet. I told him the symptoms and said to him specifically that she has symptoms of kidney problems. He goes ahead and examines her checks her back and what have you and says she has a infection. Sold us some pills and we took her home. Next week she was worse. Went back to him and repeated the thing about kidneys. He said that could be. So he goes and takes a xray and comes back and says" hmmmmm i cant figure out what it could be her back and everything looks fine". I ask him where are her kidneys in the X-ray. He says on the other side, you cannot see them on this view. She died a few days later from renal failure. I am not going to discuss the cat that still hurts to do.

I do not know how the control tower plays into this. I know he must have been on VFW when he was coming in but still the control tower tracks his course and glide path on final.

Fins and feathers hit it on the head city people mentality. I have only had stuff stolen one time. But i do not care what it is that is left laying around if it is taken it is stealing and there is no way you can justify it as your fault.

I would not report him to anyone. If he aggregates me enough he would be very surprised at the wrath of a 74 yr old.

Well Mitch some tournament fishermen are very aloft and think your some kind of lower species and your suppose to make way for them. They see these people out fishing in smaller boats with no fancy tackel and such they tend to think they are a lower class of fisherman like the trailor trash of fishing. That attitude cuts both ways.

I snagged one by pure luck off my dock on a wiggle wart. It was not running straight and i was casting in out into the lake try to tune it. What must have happened is the spoon bill got the line over his bill and the wiggle wart slipped up the bill to the place where they have those three small soft spots between the bone and got stuck. He weighed 49lbs. As long as you got open water and do not try to horse him it is really not to hard if he is well hooked. Just let him have his head and after a fight of manybe 10 minutes or so you got him. I think I caught this one on either 10 or 12 lb test. To me it was a bit like fighting a big blue cat and maybe not that much.

When i was new to living out here someone on this forum told me " they are where you find them " I agree. And i do nit ask him today. The right spot, the right technique and the right time is something you spend time finding out. So I feel no compulsion to share it. Though I might share with him now and then. Even though he doe not need it. .

Its no big problem when your 74.

Top 5 Suggestions For Novice Fishermen (To Make Them Good Fishermen)
Old plug replied to *T*'s topic in Table Rock Lake
You got a point there Jerry.i would not lie either but I sure will be vague and not pin point. I might say something like " got some around the docks" but I will be darn if I will tell you what dock especially on here since it like publishing it in in the newspaper. It really surprises me the amount of detail Bill gives up in here. -
The LITEPRO not the LITE they are different. They are thinner and made different. And they are Light. They do not have ceramic guides. They only started started making them the past year or so and they are real hard to find. I do not know if they changed the name discontinued or what. They do not have the the clear tip either. I seen this one at pro bass and that was the last one. I seen another at wall mart was a 6 ft rod sometime later. I have been to the ugly stik home page and cannot find even listed there. Mosmallies that is what you bought is a catfish rod. Never seen a 7 ft ugly stic casting rod that was not. MItch---- i have seen that with ceramic guides.I have a rod i am going to re wrap this year and i am thinking about these chrome guides they have now suppose to be very hard. I beak mostof my guides by forgetting sbout my docks roof and slamming them into it when i set a hook while fishing off the dock.

There is a newer beater rod on the market if you can find one call ugly stik lite pro. Hard to find they are made a bit different than the regular ugly stik. I have a 7 ft casting rod that i use for pitching and flipping has 10 guides and a tiptop, Cork grip, and paid $39 bucks for it. Have no idea of the range of rods made in that model. I cannot find them anywhere. The one i have I got at pro bass and it was the last one on the rack. Ugly stiks are as tuff as anything made out there.

Is that rust on those bolts are some fype of crap they are using to secure them against vibration. After looking at the second picture i can see the gunk on the threads. It looks to me like there was a lot of it used no matter what it is. I bet The american manufactures did not want that stuff applied to their motors is the difference. -

Lets just say we got a lot of things running around in this state and the waters of this state that are not doing it any good. Unfortunately a lot of them run on two legs.

This high ind along with the wave action is causes is making a lot of ice collection on the frames and flotation of docks around here. Its not a good situation. Thankfully we did not have a heavy snow to o with it. If we had there would be a bunch of docks sunk and flipped.

I have only used one a Indian Guide in canada and picked up something fundamental i use to this day. I have taken friends ,neighbors and family out acting as a guide but I would never want to be a guide for anyone else. I like to fish alone. if someone is in the boat it breaks my concentration and I do not fish as well. I worry and wonder so much about the person in the back of the boat it makes me very uncomfortable.
