Ahhhhhh man. The guys up at Outback cannot put the pontoons back together fast enough. I got a guy lives up the cove has a pontoon with wiggly pontoons. He is not much worried about it.
-
I do not worry about color. I gat a slab spoon that was white by put most of the paint is chipped off it. I have a chrome one as well. At over20 ft in LOZ it does not matter it is the bumping off the bottom. J DOC catch a few of those small shad and put one on the spoon. Really nothing like a fresh shad on a spoon. around here it will get me pretty steady action
-
I like Bomber Slab Spoons here on LOZ though I do use others. I like them because they go down fast and are good bottom thumpers. Thatis the thing I do most. But that is LOZ. Each lakes structure is different and requires a different approach to accomplish your goal I am sure. Like any lure your going to have to do a lot of messing with them to truly understand what they can do.

Bite and Bill------- You may not feel it is a issue but it is a national issue There are very few spots in the nation that have truly clean water. I been pretty keen on what has been going on up here. I KNOW sewers are the only answer. Enclosed systems for the building to the treatment plant. And the treatment plant better be something well constructed. The one here in Morgan county is tested almost constantly by a monitor. The return water is passed thru and long tray of floridation liights. The water is devoid of anything when it is returned Any subdivision or system, pools etc that relies on the sun and evaporation is not as good as claimed. Basic thing is anything that goes in the ground stays in the ground and travels through the quafers in the rock like a highway both up and down hills forced by pressure. I was at Taneycomo earlier this year and looked at a lot of the walls in the cuts down there as we passed .Table Rock I area is just loaded with quafers. Time will tell about Table Rock. It is still young but it's time is coming I am sure.

BCM I got a 12x12 plastic box full of spoons. But I mostly deep jig them. I had a short period of a few months some years ago when I tried fishing spoons a lot for black bass around docks. On a scale of one to ten I would rate it about a 3. You might want to buy a lot of spoons and remove the treble and put a single hook in its place. Your going to need them. There is just so much stuff around our docks I found spoons impractical. I can do a lot better with my heavy drop shot or a wacky or trick worm with a 1/8 to 1/4 oz jig head Hooked thru the middle of it fished straight down the same way. I can see though where some spoons that are slow sinkers might do well around docks. The one that comes to mind Is the old RED EYE spoon. Hard to discribe that but the spoon has two red beds in it that makes it unique. That one goes down pretty slow and can be worked with a retrieve and pause flutter action.

I have seen one or two of those things also Wrench ---- Do do you remember that Basin Bandits night tournament when that guy in the club and his wife hit that island and the mouth of North Buck Creek. He was going al out full tilt. The boat flew thru the air turn upside down throwing both of them out and crashed. They were super lucky they survived much less not hurt.

I got the same problem. I really think OAF should not have hooked up with Facebook. they have all sorts of problems being hacked. I just hope nothing gets to us through the OAF site -
all this spider stuff. Wrench. You want me to come up there and spay those things. I have a partial can of bug pray left and I do not like to keep them over the winter. what do you think it would take to do the job 2 gals or 5.

I place a order in the fall and my wife keeps it till Xmas and gives it to me s a chictmas gift. Boy not sure about this yer however since i just layed out $2400 for a welding job on my boat.

They can sense everything in their environment that relates to sound to us. I imagine someone will in time record all the different vibrations various things make. Then you would have a hoard of lures coming on the market imitating those vibrations. While being Heralded as miracles by the TV guys. Way back in yesteryear I knew many top notch anglers that would not buy certain reels because they made to much noise( early Garcia was one of them) reeling. They believed, and I do also that what goes on on the rod is telegraphed right down the line. I will go so far as to say when you move your line while working your lure they know it is there because that line will causes movement. In the water. I would say fish a jigs the way you have confidence in them and forget all this other crap. Next to confidence everything else pales.
-
Merc I have never been much of a supporter of anything that rattled. Just for the reason you stated. I have to question if that additional noise is of any additional help. Maybe they get curious sometime and then maybe the next time it feels like something they do not want to be near. Fish are deaf. I am sure hey are ware of things around them both day and nite. Maybe in muddy water it is harder to pick up things. I sure do not know? But I have been in a boat with other a few times with someone using a rattle jig and I was using a plain jig ( I took he rattles off because I did not like their bulk on the hook) and we both caught fish. I can cause a lot of vibrations jut shaking the jig and trailor. That seems to suit me.

Well it is a good example to learn from . Always remember when tooling along with your honey at high speed to keep both hands and all fingers on the the steering wheel.

SOME wrench SOME. you know about that half butt in the cigarette boat that was diddling around up at the 7 mile marker near CoCo's ??? Rammed made a tight turn evidently to fast thru himself off the controls and intoxicated passenger and the boat went on to destroy a dock. I read he was injured seriously.
-
I do not live far from Coco Beach I see that stuff every weekend.

If my daughter or son made such a remark they would not be welcome here as warmly. They. may just be ashamed of me. I do not blame them. I butt in to conversations talk loud and generally am a embarrassment in social situations. But they better never ever be ashamed of their mother.

I am fit to be tied waiting for my boat to get done. But there is no way I am going to pester those guys at Outback. They are just amazing with the things they weld and fabricate. Look them up on the Internet and you will see what I mean. They are hoping to have mine done in a couple weeks. Bar a lot of insurance covered damage over these next two weekends that take priority.

I like the one where he runs the canoe over another one. I did something like that but not a canoe. I had a 18 ft square back canoe with a 5hp motor on the back. I was running up a river with my 10 yr old daughter in the front of the boat. I was paying more attention to her than the river. I hit a great big limb sticking out of the water and much to my surprise the canoe climed over the limb. Just like he did the canoe.

You can expect more of the same next weekend for 4 days.

I do not agree with you on this champ. The fuzzier would have to pretty pronounced to see them. Are the line would be dry. Wet you cannot see them. if I could see anything it would be way past the time I would have broke off and retried mono. I will stick to my fingers.
-
The thing I do not like about braid is when fishing anything that the line gets drug over is that if it weakens you cannot tell it. With mono you run your fingers down the line and you can feel any nicks and abrasions they might have. I use 10lb braid to crappie though. Never use a leader. have never noticed and difference in the catch rate either.

That is true. But no matter what you do you got to do it has to be because you want to. We seem to have a lot of cracks and crumbling in our national attitude that does not promote that.
-
Most fish we have catch this falls small and large seem to have full bellies. It makes me think they are selective feeding and stuffing themselves with on shad. I believe in periods when that happens you will see poor artificial fishing for some species like bass.
-
Wrench and Mitch. My post was of worry of a personal nature. But I do worry about young people and kids.
-
If they were set shallow My bet is some fisherman got snagged on one. Seems to me there is a awful lot of people running around down there on TR with a less than decent attitude judging by the post I see on here.
