  1. Well you will out of grow your worry. The older you get the less there is of the future to worry about. So you just sort of give up on it. Really what everyone should be worried about is the present. This world seems bent on taking itself to self distraction.
  2. I think the bass are changing seasonal gears . we got 4 jkeepers the other evening in a hour or so from 15 to close to 17 inches. I tend to switch gears this time of year to jigging a spoon with or without attached shad chunks. Spend most of my time in the white bass gathering places but am not targeting White bass as much as whatever I find down there. Have caught a lot of big catfish hanging below whites this time of year. If I run into a hybrid that's fine too, but I do not intentionally chase them down. Just out there haveing fun and winding down the season.
  3. I never heard of that before. you sure it's not chain pickrel???
  4. The rule on LOZ is you only control the area your dock sets. That is somewhat broad. Some people thing it includes the cables and the water under it. I do not think it does. Like most other dock owners I never bother anyone. I have only been hollered at one time for going into a empty stall. The reason I went in there was to get a snagged jig. I told the guy what I was doing and he kept hollering. I told him to call the boat patrol. And went ahead and got my jig off the brush.
  5. Best thing I ever did as far as my dock goes is when I first came out here I and bought a MIG welder nd learned to use it. Thing cost me $450 but has save 10 times that much. Your right Mo Guy I miss interpreted it. Right to fish a dock is a touchy point with me makes me jump. We have more than our share of people around here think they have the right to stop people from fishing their near docks. If they try it with me I will tell them they have no right and then sit keep fishing and enjoy watching them raise cain with a me. I have lettering on the side of my boat 6" high saying deaf.
  6. Browning Collector. What were your intentions of telling these people fishing 18-20 ft from your dock. ???? If you were going to tell them not to fish that close to your dock. they probably would have would not paid any attention to you. You see you do not own the lake just like up here at LOZ. You cannot prevent anyone from being that close to your dock. It does not bother me a bit if people fish my dock all they want. 99% of them do not fish it right or too fast. My dock has a local reputation as a crappie hole. They surely will not catch many crappie being there at the wrong time. sitting on top of the areas they should be casting too. So I really see no reason for bothering anyone even if I could. As far as docks being damaged You need to come up to LOZ and see what we do up here. I have a 30x30 dock that is close to 50 years old. It is as solid as a rock. It is all in the bracing it up. I live on a point in the Gravois between two very popular watering holes. Just brace the dock upper and lower and hang on.
  7. I have lost a few crank baits to gar. I tend to put 6 inches of wire leader between my line and the Rope Lure.
  8. 5 bites. I am not saying it was all sewage but the development W/O sewers miles away can come back into Table Rock. The older the systems the more afflaunts get thru them. Big springs in Mo Has affluents coming in from a town miles away. They traced it back. Ground water all over the nation is suffering from this.
  9. Nice Gar but come up here to LOZ and you might catch some larger than that. I caught a couple last year 48 and several 42 to 46. Have not fished for them this year. Boat is in the shop with a cracked keel or i might have been out there. With all the shad we have I imagine there has been some growth. I tried to catch one several times up in soap creek last year that must have been 10 inches across the back. He just would not take that rope lure. They live a long time so I bet he is there. Next time I find him I will be throwing him a big chunk of shade impaled in that rope.
  10. I have my doubts that all the nutrients come in from the flood inflow of flood water. I really believe its coming to the lake from sewage problems. When i was down there about 2 months ago I seen many many quavers in the cuts for roads etc. I am sure they go farer down into Table Rock. Septic water will travel thru those things for many miles. The answer to that is to have sewers over the whole area. Table rock it a lot younger than LOZ as you age this will not get any better. There is a big push on LOZ for sewers. If the state had their way everything for a mile back from there lake would have sewers. But to me that is still not far enough. With the modern way of doing it is a lot more feasable to install sewers The people that installed our last Phase came from down in the Table rock area.
  11. I think this is this new strain that is coming out of pocket between Southeastern Kansas and Northeastern Oklahoma. Heard bout this last fall. It is a killer breed. Ticks are getting to be bigger health problems all the time.
  12. Sunrise beach covers a awful lot of water what MM are you going to be on
  13. Amery---- I hope for your sake it will not happen it depend on many things as they grow older. The instance I know was many years ago and her son was about 7 yrs old. He found something heavy in the house and used it on her while she was sleeping. Almost killed her. He did not understand what he did. Today there are a lot of different drugs I assume. Mayve they got a lot better hold on it than they did in my time.
  14. That iswhat this will look like when its done
  15. J-DOC The new boats are FAR worse than the old jon were. I have a 19 ft Targa in the shop right now with a failed keel. It is Nothing u unusual for a Targa to crack its keel. Some withing a few years. Anybody who disagrees with that go on the internet and research it.They give you the impression it is big water boat but certainly is not. When I took mine in. The repair place told me the keel was not even welded on that well. Further the bulkheads they use in a Targa will break loose and hammer the bottom in any kind of chop. What they are going to do is take oit the floor. Weld the repair the break and what else from the inside put a new keel on the boat welded the full length of the boat. The new keel will not be a flimsy thing either like is on there now. Going to cost a easy $1000 + at least. Just think what Bass Pro will turn the boats of these companies tthey just took over into.
  16. I commend you for you determination. But has anyone consulled you about several years down the line.???? There may cery well come a time when they will have to be institutionalized. I knew someone who had to do that solely for safety sake. As they become older amd stronger a attack could result in a critical injury. That might sound terrible but it is a reality.
  17. WELLLLLLLLL. She is not a fishing dog. she does not even like to go outside. But she is a great comfort to a old fisherman when he comes home tired.
  18. WRENCH ----- your lieing that is not your dog. Looks too small and weak. Besides the ice box in the photo is still in one piece. All kidding aside that dog is as strong as a young horse.
  19. 5bites----- It is rigged just like you might expect a drop shot to be rigged . But up in a much larger version. I also put a swivel a short ways above the hook. I had never seen anyone use something like that here on LOZ. Kinda thought I had found something. Then come to find out Dion Hibdon has been using it. There was a peice on here earlier in the year that Lilly published about him using it. In spite of this I do not think people are. I catch most my fish between 10 - 25 ft on it up here. It is mostly a one man fishing deal. Some steelith is also appropriate. You can also flip it some.
  20. I seen in the paper where three guys got thrown out of a fishing boat amd it capsized just inside the gravois last weekend. They were coming up the lake and some big boat past them pitched them right out.
  21. I love to do it on LOZ. But I do it with 1/2 oz bell sinker tied on the end. A 0/4 hooks and Larger plastics like the magnum trick worm. Most of the time I just come up to to the edge of a dock and drop it straight down to the bottom. Then jiggle it a bit. If nothing happens. I retrieve it then try it again somewhere else on the dock. It is amazing how many times they will hit it as soon as it hits bottom. Only thing I have against it is sometimes that 1/2 bell sinker and hook can turn the rig into a awful tangled nightmare during the fight.
  22. Nice to see she lookswell and happy Mitch
  23. We have had 4 close by in the 25 yrs I been here. The worst one was that thing that took everything Wrench had and scatered it all over morgan county. . And I mean it cleaned him out. Nothing knocked down eveything just gone. He was very very lucky to survive that.
  24. THEY SHOULD. They ahould also make mandantory state building codes for those things. Camden county ls supppose to have some . Morgan county has none.
  25. Truth is it goes farther. They shut down a condo developement down at Hurricane Deck because it was falling apart.Stuff like decks etc were falling away from the building. Safety rules mean bothing if the construction is dangerous. Around this lake that is what it is.
