  1. here is more than Fire traps. They shut down a whole condo at Gurricane deck vecause it was coming apart. Deck and such were seperating from the building.
  2. I think your all seing things. How could it be possible you would have a problem on Gods lake.
  3. Sinky suff is stinky stuff Mitch. But that puppy of Wrenches could kick my butt and he would just be playing.
  4. I caught two at 17 " on two cast on a point at the mouth Cedar Point cove on a Rogue. They had the picture up at Ozark Outfitters for awhile. The water there was about 50 ft deep. It was a warm still spring afternoon. They must have not been more than 5 ft down. I was fishing for bass at the time. In the past I have caught crappie crappie 14-15 " long on Rogues under those conditions but it certainly is not a regular thing. Catching one was something but two stunned me. I Just sort of regard it as pure luck. Every spring now though when I am using that Rogue I am always hoping. I carry the Rogue in the boat when crappie fishing all the time. I believe those big ones love a big bait.
  5. These condos are not good things as far as safety goes. I cannot ever remember seing one with a fire escape. They are all fire Vinal siding( fire retardent or not) put on over foam sheathing set on multiplestories of wood framing. Put there by poor engineering and shoddy construction is asking for it. I remember the fire in Lick Branch Cove some years ago. Anyone should have ben able to see to that those places were not set far enough apart and a good fire would leap from one to the other. And that is what happened. With no fire escape it is very easy for people to get trapped in the upper floors. Nearly all these things have central exits. If a fire starts down on first floor it will speard around the vinal and foam walls pretty fast thereby cutting off the only support route. In the pictures I have seen of this fire tht is exactly what happened.
  6. Wrench that photo remends me of the that thing they called a burst went through here a couple years back. thats my guess because there are not boats flipped in the photo.
  7. That is a cute picture Wrench. Bet bow he could fit that reel and handle into his mouth and just may very well do so. He is close to 80lbs now isnt he. ????
  8. That is it exactly. Yeah and nobidy believes this country can fail. China is waging a econmic war with us now. Kicking our butts real good at it also. I myself am not in love with this forum or any social media for that matter. I never catch fish,So I do not post Pics and give out advice about spots. Should it happen I send. a pic it is usually of a fish laying on a yard stick in my boat. There is no doubt of its size that way. I do know a limited bit about tackle and lures and tecnique. I have been told on here I do not know anything about that either. So I do not try.
  9. Must have been a wolf spider. They are monsters. You might be able to keep them out of the shop by collecting some Osage Oranges and putting them around in the shop under boat covers etc. There are several trees around that screen printing place in Versailles on 52. I used to collect about 1/2 bushel for a few friends in St Louis who wanted to get rid of bugs and spiders in there basement. They all swore by them. Time is about close to start collecting them. i have used them in my own crawl sprace. They will last several months When I use them I only need about two to keep my crawl space clear.
  10. I have not noticed anything out of normal with the spiders down here wrench. Some of the other insects have been much worse. Mostly those little red ticks. I worry more about them than spiders. They are the ones get most the blame for Lime Disease.
  11. Its also the time of the year Ibused to start my deep jigging either with or without fresh shad on the spoon. those days or over.
  12. WHARFRAT ----- When is the last time you had a good heart examination. The humidity will sap you have a heart are brocial problems. I got haert things and my fishing buddy has COPD so we barely stick our nose out the door in this kind of weather. If he tried to walk, a couple miles in this heat and humidity there is a chance he would not survive. I would have myself checked out if I were you just to be on the safe side.
  13. The water rediculous all the way up to COCO Nuts Wrench. And there is no hiding back in the coves anymore eother. Mill creek has become where they all go to Water Ski and Gladstone has not been much better only wider. I think going to take advantage of the weather right now and go to the lower Gravois. My daughter and her husband got 17 crappie last night around midnight under the light. Nothing great just keeper crappie.
  14. I have afriebd on the 1 mile marker. They really do well.down there. Myboat would be full of watwr before iI got. there with its cracked keel. Going to put it in wednesday.
  15. It would be awful heavy and it just might startle you with what it will cost you ultimately.
  16. Gavin------I have been thinking about weed guards on mine. I have a couple blanks Mitch made. I think I could tie that tiny cable wire stuff Mitch used right onto the jig hair then just bend it up.
  17. I Like the rabbit fur. It was entirely a new material to me when I began tying my own jigs again this last spring. I experimented with ttying just tying 1 or 2 pieces to a blank crappie jig. It works as well as marabou and is a lot tougher. I do not use it on bass jigs above 1/4 oz.
  18. I remember every pieces of equipment and the boat and motor. That was the days when fishing was peaceful. They will never return I am afraid.
  19. How about good long jaired buck tails??? Really only interested in Olive, black brown or ginger.
  20. Thats right Gavin I have two that were there. Another who spent 4 yrs in the south pacific. Yes they are alive and kicking. You know this is a retirement area here. Were rich in vets here though of all ages. I want to add Gavin I spent over 40 yrs in DOD and DA. Much of that time was spent in support of WW2, Korean and other veterans all the way up thru Vietnam. I had excess to all types of documents from. morning reports to awards and decorations. I took that very serious. At one time I had. 14-5 drawer file cabinets filled with POW diaries. Even though I was Navy in my own service I have very strong feelings for people who were in direct ground combat. Chosen Resivior had to be among the worst of the worst. All because of a 5 star show boat.
  21. Mitch------I agree with you. I think My daughter at least regard her Do-It-Yourself projects like creative art or something. sje has some pretty good tools to use for these projects. Of course when That happens I do not get very much done. Only two things she has never borrowed from me is my little cement mixer and my MIG welder. SO FAR.
  22. Your mistaken. He made the statement about country boys as a slight. They are my people not prefect but still my people. Do not be making them up like cowards.
  23. Smalloebigs----- I rolled thru St louis and E St louis and hung out in some of the worst places in both towns before you were born. I would take a country boy at my side over a yuppie any day of the week. A whole lot of the country boys I know been in combat. In places like Chosen Reservoir, the Islands of the South Pacific, I know two that are former SEALs so you just keep you really need to keep your mouth shut about country boys. They served and fought. They did not hide are look down on those who did Amazing you do bot know such things as rape and beating people with hammers is allready banned.
  24. Be real careful in that Yak. Some of these fools on the weekend would eat you and the yak alive. They have very limited forward visability in those big boats for anything close fairly clos to them.
  25. I got one keeper last evening and. that was it I think my season is mostly over. Spend 1/2 my time wondering about how much water is coming in the boat. I am going to have a new keel welded to it over at Out Back in Sunrise Beach. But he is so loaded dwon with work it might be early winter before he can get to it.
