Dang! You guys racked up quite a pile!

The scud is just hairs ear dub a tungsten bead and red thread . brush out really picky throw some hard as nails on the back and whack the trout over the head with it. Something about the red gets them juiced up. I didn't have olive thread or scud dubb that day but i do now . I have tried the same fly in olive and tan and still never work as good as that little guy with the red and no wire wraps. I think naming the flies is a lot of pressure ... So many creative ones out there that its hard to pick something. Gallup says people have made it where he wants to name his flies bill or Steve... Oh well

My favorite scud was developed by not having the right materials for the recipe and just winging it. Best scud pattern ever

I tied some wooly sculpin as well wrench . They seem more in line with my style of fishing and basically match what you are saying. Sort of like an oversized bow river bugger

Rick i had a similar occurrence two years ago . I was out there all night and no one then about 7 am people started showing up. Its a weird feeling

I have no boat experience but you can fish from the bank around outlet one and two pretty easily. Try scuds under an indicator also. Lots of boat guys post float and fly as a successful choice. I usually like to wade but scuds are never a bad choice on taney especially the upper end and trophy area.

I have fished crane a lot and have only seen one cottonmouth . this was in July . plenty of watersnakes though. Also. Summer fishing crane can be fun after a big rain or during. But the best time are october through May and the bite is surprisingly good in the afternoon in the cooler months. Big bugs work great
