Bryan is a full time Guide in Kansas, probably the only full time guide in KS, but I believe he is a Garmin ambassador he targets Walleye, Wipers, White's, Crappie and Bass. He has some good electronic videos, he also offers electronic usage guide trips. https://www.youtube.com/c/KansasAnglingExperience

Found the results, young man won with a 5 pounder. Here's a link about the tournament, and it has weigh-in's for Taney. https://thebbz.com/2021/11/1/evan-cox-from-colorado-wins-the-2021-bass-cat-boats-big-bass-zone-junior-championship

Woke up Saturday a.m to a fleet of bass boats ripping down to fish lower taney. Googled what was going on, and it was B.A.S.S Youth Worlds big bass tournament. Some young guy/gal won a tricked out BassCat and swag. Saw them fishing docks in the afternoon throwing big stuff umbrella rigs etc.. Really curios at what was weighed in. Anyone know?

It's not an app but here's an SMS text app that you can get generation info from. Sometimes helpful if you don't have cell service and you don't have to install an app. This is an app I wrote as a utility for anglers, so there's no monkey business going on, your number won't start gettin spammed. You can get Core of Engineer and USGS current and scheduled (core only) generation/cfs Here's the number 913.270.0360 here are a few the text commands for Scheduled Generation, all core tailwaters are supported.... s table Will get scheduled generation for Table Rock s bull Bullshoals s littlered Little Red For a specific day... s table thu Thursday's schedule s Just text s and you will get a list of all the sites,, all the core and many other USGS are available Current Generation commands. g table Current TableRock (i.e. taney). g bennetsprings g nianguamackscreek Just text "g" no quotes will give you a link to a list of many river gauges in MO, AR , KS, and CO.

Won't look as good as glue on eyes, but maybe you could draw some shad spots and maybe some eye markings using a Sharpie?
-
Nice I bet some whites or wipers will pound that if its not to big.

Opinions Wanted - Handling & Releasing Trout
dpitt replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
Nice looking page, easy to read. You've talked about removing hooks in the past, this could be helpful.. i.e. gut hooked, indicate there may be times to leave it in? Thanks, David -
Love to see it? No worries if it's a trade secret

That is awesome!

Cliche Alert: So your tying them for fish, not the fisherman
-
Thanks, I'm just cutting strips of craft foam and just ty them in by layering them forward and around, then trim to make it look gnarly/knuckley.

I've been having luck catching wipers and whites by throwing this at schools of busting bait fish. It's inspired by Brian Wises Knuckle Head articulated pattern.

Need help finding an old post

I created a fly tying video website with a repository of videos. They are organized by fly boxes (species, location ,etc.) There's also a "How To" fly box with videos you might be able to use to teach from. Here's a link https://flytyerworld.com . There's also a mobile app. Hope it helps. -
Great video, thanks for sharing!

Back Stabbers, black or purple, John Montana's hybrid, carp craw, Egans's head stand patterns with a chenille worm sticking out. Mitch also ties a lot of variants to these patterns, add squiggly legs and some orange to get there attention. I believe it takes a lot of skill to catch carp of the fly without chumming for them. I know of some bragging rights tournaments. There's a really popular Pro Am tournament in Colorado. No money but prizes. https://carpslam.org/

I do a little guiding for KCFlatsCO https://www.kcflatsco.com/. Mitch Meyer is one of the owners. He's a young man that got turned on to fly fishing playing in the minor leagues in Montana and Wisconsin. He was a full time guide for Minturn Anglers in Colorado, then life called and he came back to KC to raise a family. He guides for CARP at Hillsdale and Clinton KS polling a skiff.(Hog Island with a polling tower) . So, it's sight fishing, a blast to do, and very good experience for bone fishing, and other saltwater species. You gain experience seeing fish, then casting to them. Carp make multiple runs and fight, it's fun.

Taneycomo Fishing Report for June 14th. 2021
dpitt replied to Bill Babler's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Great report thanks! Are you thinking the boat traffic turns them off a bit, but they make a reaction bite to the jigs? -
Lilley's Lake Taneycomo Fishing Report, May 20

Banging bell makes sense, another theory could be the float is producing a better, "more realistic" drift? -
My SMS text app not only scraps Core Generation, Flow data, but it also has a bunch of USGS sites in Ar, MO, CO, and WY. To get a list text. "g" to this number. 913.270.0360 you'll get a link to a list of available sites. then just text "g smsID" SmsID is listed in the site list.

Fly fishing Books Barry Ord Clarke recommendation
dpitt replied to cohafly's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
Just finished "Lords of the Fly". by Monte Burke, Great read about the obsession of Anglers and Guides starting back in the 70's and 80's until now pursing IGFA records for Tarpon primarily in Homosossa FL. Great read and lots of info about the original Pioneers of Saltwater fly fishing (i.e. Lefty Kreh, Flip Pallet, Steve Huff etc.) -
This last Sunday Evening heading back, police officers and firefighters flagged me down from shore below cooper creek boat ramp 6 teenagers in kayaks and Walmart raft had tipped over. 9,000 + CFS we had to pluck one young man out and take him to EMS waiting for him down stream, don't think he would have made it much longer in that water. Everyone one ended up ok, but the whole lot of water rescue folks, firefighters, and police officers where mobilized.

Yes you are correct he was just thinking using a smaller hellgrammite pattern as a being a representative pattern to tie
-
My son his getting his PHD in entomology at Colorado State Univ. He said hellgrammitte nymph/larvae patterns are similar to fish(dobson) flies. But he said tie them a bit smaller. Here's a cool hellgrammite pattern. Here's info about the fish fly from MDC. https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/fishfly-larvae

I fished with a Crappie fishing Guide who used those type of hooks, worked well when vertical jigging, hooks right at the top of the mouth.
