Very thought provoking, thank you for sharing.
  2. I'm pretty old 61, but fishing keeps me young at heart
  3. That's pretty cool. I have fond memories of 70's Saturday morning fishing shows, especially Virgil Ward "From the lakes of Northern Canada, to the Gulf of Mexico, wherever fish are biting, thats where were gonna go" I think he lived in KC. My dad did not fish, so only access to fishing info was buddies, BassMaster magazine and these TV shows.
  4. Yea I added that for flash, and I thinks it better to merge or incorporate it in with the Nylon fibers. Worth noting that the nylon fibers undwind more and get finer when fished. I also added a little more material and probably should have made it a bit longer. I was thinking about snipping off the hook bend, but decided not to. I gave it a try and did not get a sniff from a Gar but the Walleye and Wiper liked the pattern. It looks pretty alive in the water.
  5. Love PO-BOY sandwiches, thanks!
  6. Thanks for the intel, might have to check it out, will post results if I do.
  7. So was at the Spillway at Clinton Lake (KS) and saw some GAR, went home and tied up this pattern went back to give it a try. No Gar, but caught a wiper and some Walleye with it.

    Choclates

Christopher Elbow is a famous Chocolatier up here in KC, I've heard he is also an avid Fly Fisherman. I'm guessing so, these are called his fly fishing collection chocolates. Got these for Fathers day, to pretty to eat, but I had his chocolates before, they are beautiful and tasty. Tom Rosenbauer from Orvis is amateur chocolatier and heard he came out last year or the year before and fished Crane Creek on a visit to Christopher Elbow.
  9. Looks like dubbed body, Nice thank you!
  10. I'd love to see a Sulphur Crackleback pattern if you don't mind?
  11. Porch view over the water looked awesome!
  12. Wow that is crazy, thanks for sharing, looks like they have been doing this style for a long time. The video points out that these Maldeves fisherman still don't use electronics, but still rely upon site and this techniques eliminates by catch kudos to them. Cool video.
  13. They where really fishing for them and looks like they almost took a swim a few times. So I'm guessing they have partially straightened barbless hooks on the pole lines? They seemed to fling off easy .Interesting for big Tuna looks like two lines with one hook,
  14. So stumbled upon this OLD Movie "Tiger Shark" made in 1932, go to minute 51 and you will see a wild tuna catching frenzy.
  15. Very nice boat build. I've been fishing Taney a bunch with the 15,000+ cfs. Scuds size 14 and 16 gray and tan are the ticket, I fish a long leader with fixed indicator, but required drifting over areas. I know an 16 to 18 ft leader rig will contact the bottom. I have a big indicator big split shot. The slip indicator is the way to go you can drift a couple scuds from the cable to short creek and catch fish. Also, a lead egg pattern above the scud will catch fish and act as an attractor. You can get a midge fix by hitting the eddy's I'll spot lock/anchor in them and drift a big and small midge they will come up and eat em, you don't need to be at the bottom. they usually will be chilling around the fast/slow water edge, although, not always, just sneak up on em and see if you see any.
  16. Very nice job on those, like the sparkle backs what size Hooks? #4?

"Wind out of the East they bite the least" old adage
  18. Kudo's for hooping it up in your 60's. Funny story, my son's basketball team had a father son night, this was a while ago, most of the Dad's were in there 50's, we started off warming up with the boys, dads were dropping like flies, Achilles popped, turned ankle, overheating, most of us had not run a court on a long time, did not really have enough left to play a game. I bet bball keeps you in excellent shape.
  19. Are the caddis coming off in the morning?
  20. Had a trip yesterday saw that boat it was huge, they where considerate with their wake with me, but other v bottom boats weren't . I still throw fixed indicators with longgg leaders in this flow, so my guys needed to be up on the deck to cast. Some of the v bottoms don't mind their wake, can be sketchy with 16,000cfs flowing. Fishing was good, even with the whole Armada pounding the same lanes with most probably scuds Also, seems like most guides are considerate. I feel bad for the River Run drift boats when it's busy, they can get knocked off anchor, so I try to throw as little wake when passing them. You can tell those Bow's are chonkers!
  21. Recon trip to Clinton(KS )lake. Lot's of white and wiper action, stacked up in about 10ft of water by a main lake point water temp 63. Wind out of the NW had a positive effect I think.
  22. What a very cool thing you and Pat are doing.
