  1. Where exactly do you live Cindyjo?
  2. I am in Quillback. My partner also. He is a member of OA but i do not know his user name on here.
  3. Dutch: I will have to go back and read the manual for the Garmin Etrex 20, a hand held unit i bought several years ago for my Canada fishing trip. I thought it said 3 ft margin of error but not sure. Its a 1 hr boat ride from the ramp to the island where we stay. There are a couple of bad spots along the way. I watched a buddy of mine from Wisconsin that i was following hit a rock and sheer off his lower unit. Needless to say, I am "puckered up" pretty good on that deal!!!
  4. I was idling out of Birch Creek one time last year and hit a stump right smack dab in the middle of the creek. I was sitting there thinking i was ok to go ahead and gas it and wham!! GPS units usually have a 3 ft margin of error on both sides of your trail right? Thats 6 ft!! Gotta sit down and relax. Take your time. Enjoy the beautiful scenery. Just my two cents boys.
  5. It wasnt Champ secretly throwing the A Rig was it? Good to hear that maybe some fish are starting to bite. I got the bug to get down there soon. But it looks like another cold front coming in and lasting awhile. Not the bitter cold front but looks like 30's for awhile. Thanks for the report Quillback. Thanks for the legwork on the OA tournament and thanks to Mike for getting the permits.
  6. Very carefully!!!!!
  7. Got a group of guys that just had our 40th annual tournament. Out of Trout Hollow. This year we had 34 guys. My two buddies and I fished wed afternoon, thursday, friday and the tournament sat and sun morning. We only caught about 10 trout apiece each day. They were running water very slowly sometimes in the morning and the rest of the time it was dead calm. The weather was absolutely beautiful. So good to be out after the two deadly cold spells we went through. Like i said it was pretty slow for us. Sunny, calm, no wind, no current. We fished jigs under a float most of the time. A 1lb 14 oz rainbow won 1st place and a 1 lb 8 oz took 2nd place. I think both of these trout were caught trolling crankbaits. Ugh!!!! Good times!!!
  8. Thanks for sharing the video Basfis. Interesting and very informative. If i heard her right if you catch and release right away there is no need to fizz. Correct? I dont fish any tournaments so I shouldnt have to worry about this. Unless I catch a 6 lb smallie during our OA tournament!!!! If we have one angler in a tournament down at Table Rock that catches a nice smallie during a tournament and notices this bass struggling in his/her livewell and can do this to save this fish then we are better off!! The local tournaments are NOT going away boys. Education is the key!!!!!
  9. Bring your auger and some ice jigs!!!
  10. Ok. Thanks. I think i will order some off of Tackle Warehouse. It looks like you guys recommend the Grass Jig for general use right? Any recommendations for size? Looks like a 5/16 oz is the smallest. I think??
  11. I was a teacher/coach for 20 years. I always told my students, "there is no such thing as a stupid question!" That was right before i would tell a kid "that was a stupid question!!" Anyway, my question: Is this pig sticker jig the same as the nutech jig? Thanks.
  12. I always heard there was a guy fishing for bluegills up by the dam when he caught the state record. On a cricket!! I will agree with you boys on the number of "meat fishermen" on Stockton.
  13. How is the best way to obtain these jigs?
  14. Phil: Thanks for the report. We are coming down in 2 weeks. Glad to hear people are catching fish.
  15. Merry Christmas to all you boys! I had never caught a fish on a jerkbait until last year. I really wanted to devote some time to it. I posted last year that i was in the market for a jerkbait rod. I really wanted to come down and buy that Falcon Cara from Bill Babler. I just didnt have the time. Champ had claimed, "it will be the best rod you own." Anyway i ended up buying the Lew's jerkbait rod. And i like it a lot. Handle not too long, soft tip, short enough to jerk and not bang into the side of my boat. I have Abu Garcia Revo STX on most of my rods. I have used mono for jerkbaits but i am thinking about going to floro. Most of the elites use floro according to an article in BassBlaster the other day. Anyway, i had enough success on the jerkbait last year that i have gained a new confidence in throwing it. Caught several nice bass on it. I like the Megabass but actually caught quite a few on a Rapala Deep Jerk. Lots of good info on here boys. Have a Happy New Year!!
  16. Glad to hear you are catching crappies on Pomme. I have a place on Pomme but very seldom fish for crappies there. I go over to Truman or Loz to fish for crappies. I have never heard of a winter spawn for crappies. I am not the resident know it all on fish spawn but i dont think this happens.
  17. That is one beautiful fish!! and i miss Mr Frazee writing for the KC Star!!
  18. Some guy caught an 11 lb walleye on Truman yesterday while crappie fishing. The report said that the baitfish are loading up on the face of bluffs and the crappie are just gorging themselves. I dont know if that happens or not at Stockton? Report said jigs and minnows but you being the "spoon man" Dan that may be the ticket!!
  19. Great question Browning Collector. I was sitting here thinking the same thing. My son caught a 29.75 inch walleye a couple of years ago up in Canada while we were fishing for lake trout in 50 feet of water. Beautiful fish!! She swam off ok but i kinda wondered if that fish would be ok. Give us the lowdown please Bo.
  20. Thanks boys. And I couldnt agree with you more Vernon about the Star.
  21. Happy Thanksgiving! I look forward to checking out the fishing report every thursday in the KC Star. For about the last month there has been no report for Table Rock. Anybody know why this is?
  22. Good job Quillback!! Those brown fish and 14 inch spots are fun to catch!! With all the talk of lake turnover on here did you see any sign of that?
  23. We were up the White River. Water temps were 70 degrees. Pete Wenners claims the water temps are about 8 to 10 degrees higher than they should be this time of year. We were fishing in t shirts and shorts. A beautiful fall day but we need cooler weather!! And i hear its coming!!
  24. Fished friday and sat with Kbillb. We fished pretty hard both days. Caught 12 friday with 3 keepers. Caught 19 today with only 1 keeper. Various baits. Good to be on the water. Beautiful weather. Saw deer, turkeys, coyote, wood ducks. Tough fishing but great being out on this beautiful lake.
  25. Anybody on this forum willing to help a guy find some crappies? I am bringing a buddy of mine and his wife down to fish for some crappies friday. Probably launch at Fairfield or Osage Bluff. Fish up the Big Pomme or up around KK island. Water depths? Jigs? Minnows? Flats? Creek ledges? Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
