What are you listening to?

When I saw Aerosmith in the 80's a couple was arrested for having sex and Steven Tyler wanted to know what song got them motivated. The warmups were Rose Tattoo and Pat Travers (Boom Boom out go the lights!) I also saw the Kinks in the 80's and Billy Joel when he released the Nylon Curtain album. FYI there never were any steel mills in Allentown. They were all located in Bethlehem and Hellertown PA. -
Thought that this was Hilarious. I must be a sick man๐!

Females do not have that spot. Based upon it's size that is not likely to be a juvenile and more likely to be a female. I have gone more with distribution on identification between the two species. -

Did you notice the "fluorescent" patch on their heads? Most of the topminnows, e.g., studfish, blackspotted, blackstriped, plains, starhead, etc., in MO have a similar patch but in different shapes and sizes. A size 18 or 20 fly would catch many of those smaller species. I've caught bleeding shiners and southern redbelly dace on elkhair caddis and hare's ear nymphs. -

If you get over to SWMO and fish the Spring river, Elk river, Indian Creek, Neosho, etc. you can catch the redspot chub which looks just like these guys. From Indian Creek. However any river or creek that ends up in the white River system like Roaring river still have the hornyhead chub like this male from RR. -
I was on a kind of anti Tom Hanks phase at that time and didn't bother to see that one. Though I did see Saving Mr. Banks with the family.

Ok what concerts have you been to that a noteworthy at least to you. First concert was 38 Special and Kansas. We had 12th row seats. Best concert for me was the Eagles - three hours of just them and they let Joe Walsh be Joe Walsh Saw Joe Walsh in Rockefeller center and we got our section screaming for him to play ILBTs but he wouldn't do it. Look it up or PM me if you want the real song title. That was my anthem back in high school. Even had a personalized license plate with it as well. Oh and Stevie Nicks was there but we left during her show. Saw Ray Charles in Ft Lauderdale Most underdressed was when we went to a Jean Pierre Rampal concert in Boston. Saw the Turtles at a music festival in Bethlehem PA, also the Mommas and Pappas. Got alcohol service as a minor at a David Gilmour concert in the Hartford symphony hall. Most relaxing concert was James Taylor at an open air amphitheater. We sat and laid on blankets on a grassy hill. Vendors came around with mixed drinks in pressurized backpacks. Biggest disappointment was having stayed out to get 3rd and 5th row tickets for a Blue Oyster Cult show that they postponed and made all tickets general admission. So pissed I didn't go to the show. Just got my money back. My son loves to point that out anytime Godzilla or Don't fear the Reaper comes on the radio Took the kids to see the Blue man group. That was a lot of fun. Not a concert but enjoyed the two Harlem Globetrotter games that we went to with the kids as well . -
I always hated the beaver that would let you get within 10 to 15 feet away then slap its tail. Seemed like they loved doing that on foggy nights๐

Jennette's Pier Nags Head NC

I lived in Wilmington in rhe summer during college, but I haven't spent much time in the OBX until recently. Really only starting to get familiar with that area. Marlin is on my bucket list for sure. -
It is amazing how many wolf spiders I see with my head lamp light reflecting off those eight eyes. Never hooked a bat but had one hit a jig and drop it.

Nice trip Dave! Did you sight fish them or just had them hit blind casting? These guys can be a gateway fish to the dark side of microfishing๐! Opens up a whole world of multispecies opportunities. -
It was very tasty! Definitely a keeper recipe!

We took a trip to visit a friend in Myrtle Beach SC. We had a offshore charter scheduled. I have wanted to try for spadefish in the Carolinas. I had seen lots of videos of folks fishing Jennette's pier for spadefish, sheepshead, and Spanish mackerel. Nags Head can be on the way to Myrtle beach. We decided to stop on the way. Only had a few hours to fish the pier. Hopefully it would be enough to catch some new fish for myself or Livie or Sue. It was a beautiful day. The water was very calm but also quite dirty. We were going to fish high low rigs. We started with bloodworm scented fish bites on one hook and a small piece of shrimp on the other to see what the fish preferred. We fished just outside of the breakwater to see if there are kingfish, silver perch or maybe even pompano closer to the beach. It was not fast and furious, but Livie caught a pigfish on the shrimp to get us started. I caught a spot on the fishbites and Sue got on the board with a silver perch again on the shrimp. Livie caught another couple of silver perch on the shrimp and we switched to shrimp for all of the rigs. We headed to some deeper water and the catching got much better. We caught southern kingfish, silver perch, and pinfish. I used one of the spot as cutbait trying to catch something a bit larger. We let that bait sit while we fished the shrimp. We got one solid hit on the spot head. The fish ran under the pier, but the line got hung on the railing and we got cut off while I got the line off of the railing. Livie also lost a decent fish that hit her shrimp. That sucked. With the dirty water I did not use any spoons or Gotcha plugs to try for Spanish. I was able to hook and land a small Spanish mackerel on the shrimp. It was my lifer for the day. Never did get a spadefish or any sheepshead. We caught quite a few fish, had chances at bigger fish, and had a great time. It was onto SC hopefully for more fish and possible lifers.

My Betterhalf made an Asian braised pork shoulder. Braising liquid was soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced ginger, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic and cornstarch. Served over black bean noodles.

Sorry to hear that guys. It's a tough decision. We did that for both of my wife's parents. We just could not take care of them ourselves. You feel impotent about that situation.

This from a guy that eats white bass one of the "you have to cook it right to make it palatable fishes" True! I haven't even looked for turkeys on the tiny public lands near us yet to even think about trying for one. Sure like to eat them though. Especially young fall turkeys!

Trying not to steal your thunder buddy.

I've single hooked myself a couple of times. Closest that I came to a bad hook up was fishing with my son when he was about five. He was getting ready to cast with the hook over his shoulder. The hook was just below my eyebrow giving me a quizzical look. I got him to not move at all until I got hold of the hook. Glad that he didn't quickly follow through with his cast๐.

You sound surprised buddy.

They still do buy the tails.. I've sold a few to them in the past. Haven't done that in years.. just haven't shot as many squirrels There is an OAF member that has sold a bunch to them here recently.

Nice fish buddy! Congrats! Hope that you catch a few more with that good weather.

Looks like New York picked up $5 billion for covid patients. Wonder how much they earned just from the Nursing home cases.
