South Carolina Reports, Ongoing
Johnsfolly replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in U.S.A. - South & West Regions
Congrats, that is a nice flounder! Hard to tell from the photo if it's a summer or southern flounder. Need to see the spot patterns on its back. Both species are aggressive predators. -
Cedar Strip Canoe in process.

Looks great Daryk! You did an awesome job! -

Hope that you do make it happen. We saw James T many many years ago at an amphitheater in West Palm Beach FL that has seating up close to the stage and a grassy hill. We hung out on the grass on a blanket on a beautiful FL spring night while listening to James T perform. It was kind of surreal but a great time. They had vendors that sold frozen margaritas from a pressurized canister they wore on their backs like a Scuba tank. I would certainly see him perform again. -

I'm a big Joe Walsh fan. He came out with his "You bought it - you name it" album when I was in high school. One of my favorite songs was - ILBTS that stood for "I like big.Ts.(slang term for a part of a woman's body). My friends gave me a vanity plate with those initials for my car. My senior year he was the warm up for Stevie Nicks at Rockefeller center in NY city. At the end of his show we started chanting, "We wants Ts, We want Ts!" Pretty soon we had our whole section chanting. He got a big smile, laughed and said with a sheepish grin "I can't sing that here 😂!" He was a much better show than Stevie who came out 15 to 20 mins late and stoned out of her head. Her singing sucked. We really came to see Joe and left after two songs. -

My family got me Eagles tickets for a bday back before Glenn Frey's death. It was the best concert that I had seen and worth every penny. As an FYI, I also won a contest for two tickets to that same concert which we gave to a couple from my work. That was the only time that I won one of those radio contests 😁. -
I recall a conversation that he and I had many years ago that he was getting a lot of negative feedback from his reports. I believe that that feedback targeted him attempting to profit from increased fishing traffic to Roaring river and other trout streams in that area. Also that his reports gave away too much information that would be detrimental to the fishery by increased pressure. However, as stated that was many years ago and I could be mistaken or mispeaking on his part.

I should have bought a lifetime permit before moving out to Maryland, would have saved me a lot of out of state license costs so far. The original goal was to head back to MO.

I do miss Tim's reports on OAF.

Though carp have been established in Missouri for generations before anyone on this forum, there shouldn't be anything stopping some one from catching some redhorse or white suckers as a substitute for the carp. Maybe folks can try and catch all three species of rock Bass aka goggle eye that live in the state. Maybe bantam sunfish or warmouth instead of bluegill and green sunfish. To me the point is to go out and try and catch something besides largemouth or spotted bass.

Study: Hunters Die After Consuming CWD-Infected Venison

This seems to be a follow-up article https://www.fieldandstream.com/conservation/study-cwd-fatal-human-disease-link/?amp -
Probably not a biologist 🤣

Don't forget those radishes 😉
-
An added criterion to make this a harder challenge is to catch them with only using a single 12 oz bottle of hand soap 🤣
-
Yes to cauliflower as well as brussel spouts and cabbage. They are all related to each other.

Awesome trip and report @Quillback and @Dutch!
-
@Quillback with me only part time on OAF, I tend to miss a few of your reports. Congrats on some nice fish!

The headline was that only 2% of MO Anglers could catch the all in a year. Sounds like my kind of challenge but living in Maryland doesn't help me. So I thought I would drop the gauntlet for those intrepid multispecies anglers to take up the challenge 😁. (sorry I had to take a photo of my screen since the MDC file was over 22 MB in size). Good luck to those that may give this a try in 2024. FYI I have only caught 2 from this list so far in Maryland.

Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine fishing
Johnsfolly replied to Mark's topic in U.S.A. - North & East Regions
We have only fished the saltwater the last time we were up that way. If you want to do some deep water fishing, I would recommend Eastman's fleet out of Seabrook. They offer 1/2 and full day fishing trips. We had a blast catching mackerel, haddock, pollack, cod, cusk.... I can recommend some other spots if you wanted to bank fish the briny waters on the way to Maine. -
Not sure when I will be in that area again but would love to fish those trout with you.
-
Those are some pretty healthy fish! Must have been a fun trip.
-
@Wander you're welcome. There are lots of ways to catch those trout, e.g., in-line spinners like roostertails, Mepps, small spoons, all kinds of flies, then a whole bunch of natural and artificail baits, but the techniques that I mentioned work really well. I hope that you catch a bunch. Looking forward to a fishing report with photos 😉

I would also recommend Bennett's. I would also recommend that along with the Marabou jigs that you.pick up a couple of tricolored weighted eggs and green and yellow John Deere and/or white microjigs from Weavers as well. Fish those under a weighted float casting upstream of the whistle bridge, the bridge downstream of the hatchery. That is an easy way to get into some bites and should land a few fish. I like fishing two pound fluoroclear Pline but you'll still get bites with four pound line. If you can cast those small jigs you can also fish them without a float. Cast out and let it sink then give a slight rise if fishing the egg or a couple of quick jerks if using the John Deere (or one of the white microjigs from Weavers) then let it fall then repeat. The white is much easier to see in the water. Watch the fish react to the bait. If you get one following the bait as it drops, set the hook if you see it's gills flare. Those trout see every kind of bait. So they will often quickly suck in the bait and just as quickly expel the bait. Don't be afraid when using the Marabou or the microjigs to change up the type and speed of the retrieve. Most of the water will be clear enough to see lots of fish responding to your baits. I also like fishing up near the handicap spot near the spring both above and below the waterfall. I fish the same baits and techniques as down off the bridge. Have decent polarized glasses. A long handled net helps landing those fish off the bridge. Doesn't hurt to watch and talk with others that are having success. Many are willing to help others catch some fish. Good luck😉

I love spots like that one. Great job Pete and love the photos🤣!
-
Great finds! 😁 Jealous but happy for you guys. Morel less in Maryland😉

I've seen guys catch them using a stiff rod tip and a short piece of heavy line. They stick the rod tip and the baits into cracks in jetty rocks. The short line keeps the fish from getting too far into the rocks.
