  1. Good luck on any legal critter that passes in front of that box blind.
  2. Sounds like a great time and great photos!
  3. Congrats on the deer! No such luck with my wife and I. Hopeful to get out again later this week.
  4. Next time I find a bunch like those, I will have to try broiling them. I've got some old bay in the cabinet.

    Just in time

    Congratulations on a great buck!
  6. Tell you son congratulations on his buck. I took my son out Sunday morning and we didn't see any deer. Too busy on the computer to go out again that afternoon.
  7. Marty how did that one taste? I found that as they become yellow they can get really bitter.
  8. Marty - great deer! I haven't been back out with my bow. Too much work. Did take my son out in the fog during the youth season. We found a great scrape line, but no deer were spotted. I couldn't get him off of the computer to go out that afternoon. I have moved towards using lighted nocks to be able to see if and where I hit the deer with my shot. Maybe its just bad eyesight, but I have trouble following the arrow in flight without the lighted nocks. They have helped me both during normal and low lighting situations. Also I like to post the lit arrow at the spot where I figured the animal was standing when I shot it. That was a tremendous help after dark finding our way out of the woods after we recovered a doe that I shot on a piece of public property that I had never been too prior to that evening.
  9. Slider congrats on another doe. I would love to have a couple of those myself. Have been working too much and missed some of the best times to go out this year. Good luck on a buck if you go out for gun season.
  10. Marty and Duane - Congrats on filling the freezer. Marty - I once saw a gray fox climb 10 feet up a hickory tree to check out a squirrel nest. I saw this same fox several times in late Oct/early Nov all around my tree stand. I never saw3 him around my tree stand after the fur bearer season opened or else he may be now living in my basement.
  11. Sometimes there isn't an option to do the right thing. I'm not saying that this is what happened to the fish in Taney nor am I trying to start a fly versus spin fishing discussion, but I have recovered dead sublegal length fish in the Current that had gill damage due to being hooked deeply possibly from small spinnerbaits, e.g., roostertails. Since you can't risk being cited for keeping a short fish, they get released and just don't recover. As Ham mentioned, these fish will be cleaned up over time.
  12. Congratulations on your keeper! Everything changes from this point forward. But those are some of the best changes in you life.
  13. I have fished and caught fish in wild trout streams here in MO, in PA, and Wyoming, but also in farm pond or drainage ditches. Some the best Oscar fishing that I have experienced was in a drainage ditch in Florida. I like to catch fish or attempt to catch fish wherever I am. I don't live in the Ozarks next to a trout or smallie stream. So I do enjoy going out and catching trout in the urban lakes. I'm looking forward to fishing several new urban lakes this winter just for the change of scenery. Also my daughter loves to fish for trout through the ice.
  14. Great find. I still haven't found a hen tree in any of my mushroom areas. So am a bit jealous.
  15. Congrats on a nice buck. I still go with any deer with a bow is a trophy and most are great eating.
  16. Good luck Marty. I did have a real good buck pass without giving me a shot last Sat on public land. Looked like your tall tined pictures, but with little more mass. My son hasn't committed to hunting this youth weekend. If we did, the wind would not be good to go after the buck I saw last week. Need a N or NW wind to get on him.
  17. Congrats on the freezer meat. Good luck on hunting the buck.
  18. I would love to participate, but would need to find a boat.
  19. Nice haul. It's been so dry in my area that I haven't even tried to gather fall mushrooms.
  20. Good luck Marty. I' going to try to get out this weekend and if I do will be hunting blind. I'm just going to a public land area that has always held animals. Not comfortable leaving cameras out there.
  21. I love big male browns in their breeding colors. Just great fish!
  22. Here the catfish that I would worry about (if I lived in India or Asia). The Goonch.
  23. It seems like every fall there is too much going on to get down to Taneycomo to try to catch some of these fish.
  24. Great photos.
  25. Awesome brown trout. Great catch.
